  1. Aaaand Ireland drops to 11th. But I suspect they will get into that team final. As for Olympic qualification, they will really need three clear rounds tomorrow, unless the course turns out to be extremely challenging.
  2. That's why you follow it here. https://www.longinestiming.com/equestrian/2022/ecco-fei-world-championships-herning/resultlist_JT.html https://www.longinestiming.com/equestrian/2022/ecco-fei-world-championships-herning/resultlist_JI.html
  3. I remember seeing Fredricson & All In for the first time in Falsterbo just a couple of weeks ahead of Rio and thinking: "These two could pull a surprise in Rio." Talk about an understatement.
  4. Wow, the Canadians are performing out of their skin here.
  5. I firmly believe Europe does not need any multi-sports games. European Championships across many sports are far too competitive and can stand on their own two feet, and incorporating them into a bigger event does more damage than good, especially when participation restrictions come in. Sure, Pan American Games function well with 8 slalom canoeists, 8 wrestlers or 6 sail boats per event, but that just can't fly in Europe without turning the event into some YOG-like joke.
  6. Yeah, that statement about English speaking judges really bugged me so I had to check. When Isabell Werth took the Special World title in 2018, with the astronomic score of 86.246% (nobody has scored as highly since), it was the British judge who awarded it by far the highest mark (over 89%). So yeah, maybe that someone is not being very objective about judging patterns.
  7. It's a sensitive subject and please leave Werth out of this. She was never in that bracket. Also - the English speaking judges are no different than other ones. That seems like a large misconception. With few exceptions here and there, rollkur is almost exclusively associated with the Netherlands. But that is somewhat understandable, given that Anky van Grunsven was the highest profile rider criticized for it, and yet she was showered with medals back in the day. And by understandable, I mean it's only natural that people are trying to follow the champion's ways, especially when that champion was also their countrywoman. Things have changed and there are no longer tense, over-bent horses winning medals.
  8. Medalists repeat their medals from the special. Top 2 got really inflated, considering neither has a true piaffe. Vamos Amigos' piaffe can be classified as passage on spot (which is the main reason why Bohemian was more ready for these championships), but then again, Glamourdale trails his legs. I remember these kinds of piaffes getting 7.5 at most as recently as in Tokyo, but there you go, today Glamourdale got 7.7-8.3. At least Dinja van Liere got away with bronze today with a much cleaner test. Pitty for Werndl & Famoso who really impressed here. Famoso is a definition of a "happy athlete" (the term FEI really likes). Adrienne Lyle & Salvino were the most fun to watch this evening for me personally. I have really enjoyed Werndl's African-themed program too.
  9. Briliant ride for Adrienne Lyle. Most of all it's her freestyle program that's good (Bruce Springsteen and Working Girl). Kind of astonishing how the Americans always outclass the snoozefest Europeans in terms of programs they present.
  10. Great performance from Therese Nilshagen. What a beautiful new test!
  11. Afaik, the Olympic truce lasts beyond the Olympics up until the end of Paralympics. They have broken it.
  12. Probably in about 90 minutes. The draw will start at 17:30 local time.
  13. Luckily, all these teams had 5th rider on site, so nobody will be cut short.
  14. Looking down the results sheet, Alejandro Sanchez del Barco delivered another great test with which he has qualified for the freestyle in 15th. Well done! Joao Oliva proved Tokyo was no fluke. In fact, today he placed 21st. Less than a percentage point away from the freestyle qualification. Way to go. Solid, but not spectacular 24th place for Wagner Ehlinger.
  15. Baš loše... Na Europskom prvenstvu bez ijednog trkača (u stadionskim dionicama). Vjerojatno se nije dogodilo ranije.
  16. One could say that Dufour lost this title on the one tempis, but more likely it was due to her decision to ride Vamos Amigos instead of the much more experienced, and more refined Bohemian. Sure, Vamos posted some nice scores in Aachen, slightly higher than Bohemian, but that was an outlier. Anyways, the new champion got slightly overscored, as it is very often the case with British riders, but hey, at least she doesn't have a fake, rehearsed persona like her more popular namesake. Fry seems to be quite shy in fact. Sort of like Rybakina of dressage. Dinja van Liere got the bronze with a hilariously inflated score. Sure, Hermes has very nice and elegant piaffe and passage, but they are still largely unpolished (doesn't matter, the judges are turning the blind eye). In transitions his legs go every-which way, more like a deer rather than a horse. And finally Isabell Werth got robbed. She should have won the bronze medal. She got demoted to 4th, basically, single-handedly by the British judge whose scores have been eye raising more often than not, to put it lightly. Hopefully he will not be returning for any major championships any time soon.
  17. Apparently it's allowed because of the rules in Denmark... So, yeah, he competed sick on Saturday (without disclosing it to public), and then he will also compete today. Mind you, he was being interviewed after his ride on Saturday. As if nothing is going on. Incredible.
  18. Gareth Hughues is positive for COVID. Team GB announced it at the press conference... after the medal ceremony. You know, after all the kissing, hugging and other pleasantries.
  19. It does. Few more nations will contest it, but with Brazil raising their level, it will be hard to create an upset even for Mexico.
  20. Nadeem has improved his NR/PB, from last year, by 4 meters today.
  21. Vanuatu did it! Great comeback after opening up the match with 0:7 run.
  22. 235.451% 234.223% 230.791% 227.142% 225.621% 220.000% 215.808% 215.326% 212.344% 210.979% Very respectable placing for Australia to earn their continental qualification. New Zealand, quite sadly, got eliminated on the post-ride inspection. Pretty good result overall for Japan, as they defeat three European teams. Much better performance than last year on the home soil in Tokyo. Looking at the results, the United States did drop the ball quite a bit, but others did too. Spain was too inconsistent after a great start from Sanchez. Max-Theurer's ride was very tense for Austria. And finally, Finland was less than 10% behind the US. Had Ruoste not withdrawn, then there would have been legitimate chance for Finland to steal that final quota.
  23. Denmark are the team champions. For the first time in history.
