  1. Very interesting article about some new techniques we have seen pretty often in Rio: http://summergames.ap.org/article/brutal-techniques-gentle-judo-rise-olympics
  2. Great match, both teams were fighting for their lifes and i asbolutely love penalties (as long as Germany isnt involved). Its great for the tournament that Brazil is still in but i also wouldnt have minded Australia making the semifinal, because it wouldve meant a pretty safe gold for Canada. Canada might struggle against Brazil in the final (of course assuming that Brazil now makes the final) ...
  3. I think Australia has also been favorite for gold at the past two olympics and they never won, they are absolutely beatable for your team. At least your team didnt throw away a medal by underestimating their opponent, like the german women did against Spain.
  4. Referees from Macedonia are clearly betraying us here. I guess thats what you get when you allow referees from a third-world country. Edit: Now i get it, referees are shit on both sides and maybe they just cant do any better. Whenever an attacking player touches a defender, its immediately a foul.
  5. I agree, so far all of our track and field athletes except for Schäfer, Öser, C. Harting and Klosterhalfen have been disappointing. I am probably a bad fan for saying it, but Klosterhalfen reaching the final would make me happier than any medal Schwanitz ever couldve won and a gold for Krause or Roleder would be more exciting for me than all medals the german throwers could ever win.
  6. The hammer probably heavily touched the cage and barely left it ... the other possibility might be that she slipped and "lost" the hammer, but that seems pretty unlikely.
  7. I absolutely agree, this is ridiculous. I still remember womens 200 breast podium last year. For me medals become less special if half of the athletes in the final get one. Its also completely random to only look at the hundreds of a second, why not also look at the thousands of a second or only at the tenths of a second? If there is a possibility to get a more precise measurement, then it should be used. Why doesnt athlete X, who is one thousandth of a second faster than athlete Y, deserve a "better" medal? In the end this athlete has been faster and showed a better performance ...
  8. Yeah, i know and on the day of the race she was still 42, but she looks like 60 and performs like a 20 year old, so we shouldnt focus on the age that she has in her passport ... Who knows? Maybe Bob Beamon will announce his comeback tomorrow and then will go on to win gold at the next olympics? I honestly wouldnt be surprised to see that happening, there doesnt even seem to be an age limit for american athletes nowadays ...
  9. Its too funny to see all those american athletes coming out of nowhere to win gold medals, now even some grandpa won a medal in swimming, a couple of days ago a 50 year old won the gold in womens time trial ... If you dont have a problem with someone like Gatlin representing your country, then you probably dont bother about all those crazy improvements by your own athletes. I know that Canadian/Brazilian/American athletes have a huge advantage, because they dont have to adapt to a completely different time zone, but many performances are still impossible to believe.
  10. What? No one expected Schwanitz to beat Adams. With the disgusting performances of many american athletes in Rio, nothing seems to be predictable anymore. I feel so sorry for russian athletes, it must really hurt to sit at home watching american athletes winning medals, although they are at least as dirty. By the way: What was the first gold medal that we lost? Malachowski didnt show anything special in qualification, Christoph should win at least silver and gold isnt out of his reach.
  11. I dont agree about the result ... in my opinion the chinese girl deserved the gold, but it was the correct decision to not give a medal to the girl from Belarus. Could someone please tell me why there were only 16 competitors? I thought that there would be much more participants and its really unfair that some sports only have so few spots at the olympics ... I am very surprised to see that the german girl finished 10th, missing the final by only 0.4 points, but i dont know how big the difference between her and the medallists really is quality-wise ... ? I guess she profited a lot from other participants underperforming, but i am glad that she was able to perform at her best at the most important competition of her life, especially considering the very difficult conditions for german athletes in trampoline. She even had to pay a psychologist with her on money, because the budget for german trampoline athletes was clearly reduced when the german men failed to qualify for the olympics ...
  12. Thats also pretty much how i view it and i am actually a bit shocked to see how desperate she is to win another gold, although the american girls already won the last 3 olympics and the last world cup. You would expect someone with so many titles to be more relaxed about losing and you would hope that they at least are able to respect their opponents.
  13. Two medals should be safe for Germany. Of course i hope that Werth wins an individual gold, but normally Dujardin will win the gold, especially because she gets overscored very often, probably because she is the current olympic champion. Werth would have to perform clearly better then Dujardin if she wants the gold and thats very unlikely, unless Dujardin has a second off-day in a row. I would say that Sprehe has a better chance for bronze than Schneider though ...
  14. Wow amazing results for France. A gold in judo and two silver medals in fencing and archery out of nowhere.
  15. Haha ... i was just dreaming, although we could have a great team in the future with: Weinstein (1994): 2nd at 2016 world championships in the individual pursuit, has a PB of 4:17.775 Kämna (1996): 2014 junior world champion and 3rd at 2015 u23 world championships (less than 2 weeks after his 19th birthday) Appelt (1997): 2015 junior world champion in mens individual time trial and junior world champion in mens individual pursuit (3000 m) with a time 3:15.432 (6 seconds faster than the second place finisher) Your team is far more realistic to fight for gold in the future and i just hope that someone will end the british dominance, it would be even better if a country like Denmark or Italy would be able to do it, so i wish your team a lot of luck and hopefully they will stay injury-free for the next couple of years.
  16. Amazing games for Argentina so far, they are doing much better than anyone ever could have dreamt of. Now Del Potro has to win it all. Nadal and Murray already have the title, so they shouldnt be too sad if Del Potro wins the gold.
  17. I know that the media and most german people dont really care about it, but we got a 5th place in mens team pursuit and a new german record, for me this is much more important than winning a gold in equestrian dressage. If we build a team around Weinstein, Kämna and Appelt, then we cant lose the gold in 2020. So the second gold for GB and the second time with a lot of german help, congrats to Heiko Salzwedel. We really shouldnt give away our know-how so easily. Either british cycling just pays much better or german officials didnt agree with his training methods ...
  18. Great to see that there is at least someone else who sees the truth, you seem to be a very smart guy!
  19. Amazing bronze for Bird-Smith! Very sad for the guy from Brazil ... Linke was really close to a medal, great performance.
  20. Wow, Italy fighting back! I wouldve preferred Zublasing winning gold yesterday, but this is also good. Its sad that Hill didnt win a medal here, but her time will come.
  21. Me too. I cheered for him, because it wouldve been good for my prediction. Very sad for Sun Yang. All those people accusing him of doping obviously really get to him and he wasnt able to prepare in the best possible way.
  22. Like i said many times before: I am convinced that its impossible to win medals in swimming without doping, so i am glad that we dont win anything. Have fun with all those medals and enjoy them as long as you can!
  23. I am glad that there is no german stream for mens race walking, the live results are reading completely ridiculous, this is probably the dirtiest event in the history of sport. I dont even want to imagine GB or Kenya winning gold, i guess athletics is in an even worse state than i thought.
  24. I am so sad for Robert, he deserved this gold. Sadly he got a lumbago (sorry, dont know if its the right word. just used the translator) yesterday when switching out the light ... Hopefully he will continue his career, this is not how he should end his career. He couldve become a legend by defending his gold here, now Christoph has to win the safe gold medal.
  25. Finally a good result, but in the end fencing still lacks diversity.
