  1. Thanks for all the info! That would be so cool to see Ireland with a weightlifter at the Olympics and if it doesn’t happen I am already pleasantly surprised we had someone in the picture at least. My bad for not giving him the respect he deserves. Good luck to him
  2. Maybe @MHSN has mixed our flag with
  3. Are you sure FINA is not behind this magic? This would be just beyond crazy, Jamaican bobsleigh team has nothing on this . One question... how??? How is this possible? Surely there must be 100 nations ahead of us!?
  4. Sive Brassil made the final at the World Championships, so to make the Olympic team she needs to either earn a direct quota by finishing among the 3 highest athletes not yet qualified or to finish as high as possible in order to overtake those above her in the rankings. There are quite a few non-qualified athletes in the final so finishing in the top 3 will be a stiff challenge. But the dream is alive and she is very capable of a big result, here's hoping
  5. That's very unfortunate for Arthur, he's been a great servant to Irish modern pentathlon in recent years and always passionately driven to be the best he can. Hope to see him back fit again for Paris 2024!

  7. QUALIFICATION UPDATE Updated with the qualification of Megan Fletcher in Judo. By reaching the bronze medal match in the Women's -70kg at the World Championships today, she has secured her ticket to the Olympics by virtue of World Rankings and is simply awaiting her invitation now to make it official. Ireland Tokyo 2020 Olympic Team IRELAND 81 athletes 32 men athletes 40 women athletes 48 events 15 sports NEW QUALIFIER: 1 JUDO NAME QUALIFICATION Women's -70 kg FLETCHER Megan IJF Olympic Qualification Ranking - Currently Ranked 24th and Occupying Quota Position in IJF Olympic Ranking but will be guaranteed quota position in the next ranking update after reaching the Bronze Medal Match in the World Championships on 10th June. The full qualification tracker can be found here:
  8. Megan Fletcher just missed out on bronze and what would have been a historic first medal for Ireland at the judo world championships. But she has secured her Olympic ticket now, so not a bad consolation prize!
  9. Can’t wait for FINA to award Ireland an invite in this discipline too and then rescind it. Unlike diving and swimming, we have no participants, but it’s FINA and anything is possible
  10. Only if the quota hasn’t been reached in the event already. If the quota is filled by athletes with the automatic qualification standard then the rankings will not be used... they are only used to fill the quota in events where there are places available.
  11. Wow that’s fantastic news! Did she beat the number 2 seed then or did she meet someone else?
  12. I noticed in the Olympic schedule there is a preliminary round before Round 1 in men’s 100m but not the women’s 100m. I wonder is that because they anticipate they will overshoot the quota in the men’s 100m since that is where the majority of universality quotas are usually requested?

  14. Just a couple of quick updates made on the quota tracker: Phil Healy (400m) and Sarah Healy (1500m) move into provisional ranking quotas in athletics, while Andrew Coscoran (1500m) and Sarah Lavin (100m Hurdles) drop out of the quota positions.
  15. Men's 100m Barakat Al Harthi (Universality quota)
  16. Athletics: Men's 100m Barakat Al Harthi (Universality quota)
  17. Yes, looks like she is in Going to wait for some official release from either Gymnastics Ireland or the Olympic Federation of Ireland or FIG before adding her.
  18. I think someone must have updated it already with Megan taking the place of the North Korean athlete.
  19. I thought Megan Ryan would be allocated the women's gymnastics quota? She finished ahead of
  20. I thought so as well but here is what the official document says: Mixed 4 x 400m: NOCs may enter one (1) team for this relay event. A total of four (4) athletes, two (2) men and two (2) women, may be entered for the relay team. In addition, NOCs can nominate a maximum of two (2) P alternate athletes for each team, one (1) man and one (1) woman. According to others in the athletics thread, those P alternate athletes are not accredited and not officially part of the team unless called up. I wasn't sure so that is why I asked on that thread.
  21. No worries, it's a confusing world these quotas but lots of fun to track. I will keep it 7th then, even though he was 6th among NOCs. But the relevant thing is that he made it!
  22. You can only send 2 relay-only swimmers with 1 relay team so that's why we can only add 2 extra quotas for the relay.
  23. I guess you mean because 2 Koreans were in that list and only one per NOC can go to the Olympics?
  24. Apparently not according to the responses I received in the athletics thread.
  25. Are you sure Woolley was 6th in the rankings? Here it says 7th at time of Olympic quotas were awarded? http://m.worldtaekwondo.org/ranking/ranking.html
