kungshamra71 got a reaction from Griff88 in Men's Football FIFA World Cup 2022
As Portuguese who is aware of the reason why there are so many black people in Brasil , I’m gonna slowly get out of the conversation

There was not a lot of directness in this specific case though
Coach was asked if he has a plan for player X, and he simply makes an observation about player X. Not 'he is not good', or 'he is bad', just an observation about someone's playing style.
It's nothing more than what goalkeeper Noppert said after the match against USA, when being asked about playing Messi next: "He's great, but for me he's still just a player who's shots I have to stop." There is hardly a world imaginable where that is provocative
Oh well, I guess tiptoeing around everything annoys people here, while getting to the point annoys people in other places, it is what it is and a bit of fuel to the fire of a rivalry (even if only one side sees it as fuel) is never bad in any sport. The end of this match would not have been so tense and full of passion if it was NED against, say, Sweden

You don’t know him, but the guy who interviews him is the most annoying Portuguese sport reporter ever, no one can stand him and no one understands how he has his profession for so many years (I don’t know, 20 years maybe?).
today before the match he just goes and say something like “let’s do like our first king did and kick out the moors” (Portugal, when it became independent from Spain, conquered our current territory from North African - moorish - people )
This is something I expect to hear in a football bar from some drunk/unhappy supporter, not from a reporter on national tv….

Good thing from this is that I’m pretty sure it will end Fernando Santos era in Portugal, which might come together with Ronaldo’s as well.
We have a new generation but always behind Ronaldo’s light, so it’s now time for these new guys to form a total new team.

Precisely this. Portugal never was the team to play good when they start loosing, specially if not playing with crowd support.
also this goal reminded me of the Greek goal in euro 2004 final

I heard some neighbors screaming in joy because Brasil just scored. We were going out to our town Christmas market so we screamed back “BRASIL!!!” to be nice.
We should have been quiet :-X

I see many saying that the referee complains are ridiculous but i have to agree with Messi when he says this referee was horrible

Well I don’t live in POR anymore but I follow the news and tweets and all, and I can summarize the past days prior to Morocco:
- Ronaldo
- Ronaldo did not celebrated with team mates! Shame!
- Ronaldo actually celebrated and it was a lie. Shame on those who insult Ronaldo!
- We must retire Ronaldo, he is horrible
- Don’t disrespect Ronaldo! I prefer Ronaldo to play than Portugal to win (yes someone actually said this on live tv)
- players being interviewed constantly asked about Ronaldo, answering “erg, please let’s stop talking about Ronaldo”
This is worse because media love this kind of soap opera, specially one tv channel that many years ago got their micro thrown into a lake by Ronaldo (this tv channel is the worse you can imagine, making up lies of everyone) and now that he is old and not good anymore they are using this as revenge and keep talking about him (in a negative way) every minute.
apart from that, I think the feeling is a nervous one , due to the motivation of Morocco and the due to the effects of all this stupid Ronaldo soap opera on the players.

If even Messi, who got helped by the referee all the time (including right in this picture), complains that the referee was awful...yeah, the referee was awful

He should sit definitely. And he will not take it in a good way, which is ok, because no one is happy to be in the bench, especially when you are the Maradona of your nation. People just need to get this.
He is still good in the locker room and maybe in the last 15 min to give that extra feeling in their teammates that “they can do it!”
