The qualification slot is allocated to the NPC, not to an individual athlete. In the case of a Bipartite Commission Invitation the slot is allocated to the individual athlete, not to the NPC. MAXIMUM QUOTA ALLOCATION PER NPC An NPC may be allocated a maximum of twenty (20) male qualification slots and fifteen (15) female qualification slots. Exceptions may be made via the Bipartite Commission Invitation allocation method. ATHLETE ELIGIBILITY To be eligible for selection by an NPC, athletes must: hold an active FIS athlete license for the 2025/2026 season be born in the year 2009 or earlier; and be internationally classified in an eligible Sport Class with a Sport Class Status of either (i) Confirmed or (ii) Review with a Fixed Review Date after the 2025/2026 season (e.g., R-2026, etc.). For Technical Events: be ranked and have achieved 240 FIS Points or less either on the FIS Slalom Ranking List or on the FIS Giant Slalom Ranking List as of 15 February 2026 (exceptions may be made via the Bipartite Commission Invitation allocation method). For Speed Events: be ranked and have achieved 180 FIS Points or less either on the FIS Downhill Ranking List or on the FIS Super-G Ranking List as of 15 February 2026 (exceptions may be made via the Bipartite Commission Invitation allocation method). MAXIMUM ENTRY PER NPC An NPC may enter a maximum of five (5) eligible athletes per medal event. QUALIFICATION SYSTEM Qualification slots will be allocated in the following order: Method Qualification Total 2024/2025 FIS World Ranking Factor Allocation Each male athlete with 230 FIS points or less from both Super-G and Giant Slalom Point Lists on 5 May 2025 obtains one (1) qualification slot for their NPC up to the maximum quota. Each female athlete with 230 FIS points or less from both Super-G and Giant Slalom Point Lists on 5 May 2025 obtains one (1) qualification slot for their NPC up to the maximum quota. In the case that the total number of male and/or female athletes with the required points score on 5 May 2025 exceeds the number of slots available per gender, a factor allocation will be established for each gender as follows: (A / B) x C = number of slots per NPC per gender A – NPC’s total number of male/female athletes that meet the Ranking Factor allocation points requirement B – Total number of male/female athletes from all NPCs that meet the Ranking Factor allocation points requirement C – Total number of available slots from Ranking Factor allocation per gender Each NPC’s allocation will be rounded down to the nearest whole number (up to the maximum quota) or rounded up to one (1) if the factor allocation result is lower than one (1). Any slots that cannot be allocated through this method may be allocated through the Compensation allocation method (see below). 105 male athletes 40 female athletes Compensation Allocation In case the total number of male and/or female athletes with the required points score on 5 May 2025 exceeded the number of slots available per gender, and a factor allocation was established, any NPC whose calculation result in the World Ranking Factor allocation above showed a decimal between .51 and .99 and whose allocation was rounded down receives one qualification slot of the respective gender. In case fewer slots per gender are available under this method than eligible NPCs, slots under this method may be allocated according to the following priorities: 1. Beginning with NPCs with the fewest athletes per gender after World Ranking Factor allocation and progressing towards NPCs with the most athletes after Ranking Factor Allocation. 2. For NPCs with the same number of slots per gender after World Ranking Factor allocation, the NPC(s) with the highest factor decimal first (.99 or closest to .99) and then in descending order. This Compensation allocation method will be applied until all available slots have been allocated or until all NPCs with a factor decimal of .51 or higher have received their respective slots. Any slots that cannot be allocated through this method may be allocated through the Representation allocation method (see below). 15 male athletes 10 female athletes Representation Allocation Should an NPC not have obtained a minimum of one (1) qualification slot in each gender via the aforementioned methods, it may earn up to one (1) male and one (1) female slot if the NPC has athlete(s) of that gender which have achieved a valid result in at least one FIS sanctioned race of the 2024/2025 season. The number of slots allocated via this method will be determined by the number of remaining slots available per gender following the conclusion of the Ranking Factor and Compensation allocation methods (above). Should the number of eligible NPCs per gender via this method exceed the number of available slots, the highest ranked athletes per gender from each of these eligible NPCs will obtain one slot for their NPC until all available slots under this method have been allocated. Any slots that cannot be allocated through this method may be allocated through the Bipartite Commission Invitation allocation method (see below). tbd Bipartite Commission Invitation Allocation Ten (10) male athletes and ten (10) female athletes will be considered by FIS and the IPC for Bipartite Commission Invitation slots. Bipartite Commission Invitation slots do not allow entry in all medal events; the invitation will specify which events the athlete is invited to enter. To be considered for a Bipartite Commission Invitation slot, athletes must have achieved 360 FIS Points or less as of 15 February 2026. To be considered for a Bipartite Commission Invitation, NPCs must submit an official application in writing to FIS by 13 February 2026. 10 male athletes 10 female athletes Total 130 male athletes 60 female athletes TIMELINE 5 May 2025 Closing date of the 2024/2025 FIS World Ranking Lists for the World Ranking Factor allocation 2 June 2025 FIS confirms to NPCs in writing the number of qualification slots allocated 1 July 2025 NPCs confirm in writing to FIS the use of allocated qualification slots 24 October 2025 Deadline for Milano Cortina 2026 Organising Committee to receive accreditation forms submitted by NPCs (“Accreditation Long List”) 12 January 2026 Start of Bipartite Commission Invitation application process 13 February 2026 Deadline for NPCs to submit applications for Bipartite Commission Invitations 15 February 2026 Closing date of FIS Slalom, Giant Slalom, Downhill and Super-G Ranking Lists for eligibility purposes 16 February 2026 FIS confirms in writing to the NPCs the awarding of reallocation slots and Bipartite Commission Invitation slots 20 February 2026 Deadline for Milano Cortina 2026 Organising Committee to receive sport entry lists submitted by NPCs CONFIRMATION PROCESS OF ALLOCATED SLOTS By 1 July 2025 each NPC must confirm to FIS in writing via email the number of qualification slots they will use. Athletes from NOCs outside the defined continental area may not compete in the Continental Championships. The final standings of the recurve team match play competition in the respective CCs will be used to allocate the following recurve team quota places: - Europe: one recurve team place per gender. - Asia: one recurve team place per gender. - Americas: one recurve team place per gender. MEN /WOMEN 3 athletes (1 team) Final World Recurve Team Qualification Tournament (FTQT) A Final Qualification Tournament is a standalone event; it could be a separate world ranking event held before a World Cup Stage. NOCs of the highest-ranked (*) recurve team, per gender, at the FTQT will obtain three quota places. The FTQT will be open to all NOCs that did not qualify a recurve team through the World Archery Championships (WAC) and the CCs, and will be held at the end of the qualification period. (*) When ranking is used in the system, it is the one based on the final matchplay results. The top-ranked recurve team refers to the gold-winning team at the FTQT If the NOC that obtained three quota places through the FTQT had already obtained one quota place for the individual competition, this individual quota place will be added to the list of available quota places at the Final World Individual Qualifying Tournament (see below). Should the host country be the winner of the Pan-American Games Mixed Team competition, the next-highest placed (i.e. the silver medallist) will obtain one mixed team quota place. Should an NOC obtain an individual quota place via a Recurve Mixed Team event, and subsequently qualify a Recurve Team quota place (three athletes) of the same gender during the qualification process, the superseded individual quota place will be reallocated to the highest-ranked athlete, from an NOC not yet qualified in that gender, from the same continent, based on the World Ranking list updated after the Final Olympic Qualifier (FQT) event. If the mixed team event was not included on the programme of the Continental Games, the mixed team place would be allocated at the respective continental championships. In the case no continental championships are held during the qualification period, the two (2) places will be allocated at the Final Qualification Tournament. Games time. There will be no additional specific system for the mixed team recurve event. The top 16 mixed teams from the ranking round of the Olympic Games will compete in the Mixed Team recurve event. If an NOC obtained a recurve quota place at the WAC or CGs, no athlete of the same gender from this NOC may compete at the CQT. Athletes from NOCs outside the defined continental area may not compete in the CQT. By 31 December 2026, WA will identify one Continental Qualification Tournament (CQT) in each continent. The final standings of the individual match play competition in each CQT will be used to allocate the following individual quota places: - Europe: three quota places per gender. - Asia: two quota places per gender. - Americas: two quota places per gender. - Africa: two quota places per gender; and - Oceania: one quota place per gender. It is understood that (i) the various quota places will be allocated to the NOC of the highest ranked athletes per gender and (ii) an NOC may not obtain more than one quota place per gender at the CQT. 2 athletes Final World Individual Qualification Tournament (FIQT) A Final Qualification Tournament is a standalone event; it could be a separate world ranking event held prior to a World Cup Stage. NOCs of the two highest-ranked athletes per gender at the FIQT will obtain one quota place. The FIQT will be open to all NOCs that have not obtained a quota place per gender through the other previous qualification events, and will be held at the end of the qualification period. Each NOC can obtain up to one recurve quota place per gender at the FIQT. The tournament will be held in conjunction with an Archery World Cup event to avoid additional costs for NOCs/Member Associations. D.2. Host country places The host country will seek qualification places through the qualification system. The host country will automatically qualify for three quota places per gender in the recurve discipline and one quota place in the compound mixed team, provided the host country enters three athletes per gender in recurve and one athlete in the compound mixed team at the World Archery Championships. Should the host country enter only one or two athletes per gender at the World Archery Championships, it will automatically qualify one athlete in the respective gender for the Individual Competitions if it did not obtain any places through the regular qualification system. For a compound mixed team that did not enter both genders, their place will be added to the final qualifying tournament. D.3. Universality places Four Universality places for recurve, two per gender, are available to eligible NOCs at the Olympic Games. On 1 October 2027, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will invite all eligible NOCs to submit their requests for Universality places. The deadline for NOCs to submit their requests is 15 January 2028. The Tripartite Commission will confirm, in writing, the allocation of Universality Places to the relevant NOCs before the final qualification tournament. Detailed information on Universality places is contained in the “Games of the XXXIV Olympiad, LA 2028 - Olympic Games Universality Places - Allocation Procedure and Regulations” document. E. CONFIRMATION Confirmation of quota places E.1. The list of initially qualified athletes/pairs for each event (including Continental Representation Places, host country places and universality places) will be published as part of the LA28 Olympic Ranking of 2 May 2028 at ( www.bwfbadminton.com). The BWF will inform the respective NOCs/National Federations of their allocated quota places by no later than 10 May 2028. NOCs will then have two weeks, until 24 May 2028, to confirm that they will use the quota places, as detailed in section G. Qualification Timeline. Confirmation of host country places E.2. The host country must confirm in writing to the BWF by 8 May 2028 the use of its host country places. F. REALLOCATION Reallocation of unused quota places F.1. If an allocated quota place (except for those pertaining to Continental Representation Places) is not confirmed by the NOC by the confirmation of quota place deadline (24 May 2028) or is declined by the NOC, the quota place will be reallocated to the next highest ranked eligible athlete/pair, based on the LA28 Olympic Ranking of 2 May 2028, who has not yet qualified for the Olympic Games. This process will be repeated in different phases until the quota places have been filled for each event and gender, and the confirmation deadlines for the reallocation phases will be decided by the BWF at its sole discretion. If an NOC declines an athlete/pair’s quota place in the first allocation phase, and then accepts a quota place for a lower ranked eligible athlete/pair in the reallocation phase, it will not be possible to enter the first athlete/pair at the time of final entries should the lower ranked athlete/pair become unavailable. Reallocation of quota places due to an athlete being qualified in more than one event will be offered on a conditional basis, should the athlete qualified in more than one event no longer be available. If an allocated quota place pertaining to Continental Representation Places is not confirmed by the NOC by the confirmation of quota place deadline (24 May 2028) or is declined by the NOC, the quota place will be reallocated to the next highest ranked eligible athlete/pair based on the LA28 Olympic Ranking of 2 May 2028, who has not yet qualified for the Olympic Games, from that same Continental Confederation. This process will be repeated until the quota places have been filled for each respective Continental Confederation in the respective event/gender. If no athlete/pair is eligible for a Continental Confederation Places, the quota place will then be allocated to the next highest ranked eligible athlete/pair based on the LA28 Olympic Ranking of 2 May 2028. Reallocation of unused host country places F.2. If the host NOC does not confirm the host country place(s) by the deadline of 8 May 2028, such unused host country place(s) will then be reallocated to the next highest ranked eligible athlete based on the LA28 Olympic Ranking of 2 May 2028, who has not yet qualified for the Olympic Games. The process will be repeated until the quota has been filled for each gender. Reallocation of unused universality place F.3. Any unused universality place will be reallocated to the next highest-ranked eligible athlete of the same gender based on the LA28 Olympic Ranking of 2 May 2028. G. 21. An interesting point has been made by @hondrakis in a different thread here The LA28 Qualification Tracker is still open to changes and suggestions so we can include this in the discussion.
  22. Yeah, that makes sense. But I think keeping track of both athletes quotas and event's quotas would be a bit redundant. And the event's quotas might even be harder to track in those sports where athletes might decide last minute to take part in some additional events (like Shooting, Athletics, Swimming, Track Cycling etc. I guess the main difference here is for events where 2 or 3 athletes qualified for the same event, right? So it count as one event but as 2/3 event's quotas because there are 2/3 athletes who could potentially win a medal. It is already possible to "compare" the qualified athletes in the tracker. If you go in the Paris 2024 qualification by nation, you can click on the "Sort NOCs" button and order them alphabetically (default view) or by qualified athletes. Maybe the best way to implement your idea would be to add one more field here and add the "total event quotas" here. Would you like to contribute with that?
