Wow just saw the press conference with Evan Dunfee and he did not hold back on calling out the IOC on dropping the 50km walk, with the other two medalists clapping at the end lol "No one can tell me this is not exciting" For the IOC to come out and say they are looking for more youthful events its "bulls*it". Its absolute bollocks the excuse the IOC is giving in removing the event. They don't like it because its a free event and they can't make money off it.

Overall, great! Most of us predicted low to mid 20s in medals with 3-4 golds. So We've hit that target. There were some disappointments, but born again Penny Oleksiak and Andre de Grasse paved the way. Warner winning the decathlon was a statement. Charron winning gold was an understated statement. Our swim team and our athletic team came through again, which was missing for decades before 2016. So many high moments, but I'd say the biggest surprise was the W8 winning gold in rowing. I'm so sorry I missed it (I was climbing a mountain at the time), I knew they were up to something good. Having said that, gold in soccer was unforeseeable. Beating the USA, revenge for the stolen game in 2012 was probably enough. But was it? One of the greatest moments in Canadian history tonight.

Hungarian medals in 8 different sports now, which is just simply amazing, the opposite of Rio where I was disappointed by most of the Hungarian Olympic team because we only won medals in 4 sports and our performance was only strong thanks to a very few individuals (most notably Hosszú and Kozák).

Just noticed Canada's fifth gold medal in the decathlon means that is the second highest at one games ever (third if you include the boycotted 1984 games). For having the worst restrictions with Covid19 this an unexpected result.
