  2. wonderful act of fair play by Asahina earlier today in the gold medal match against her teammate Tomita... since Tomita was injured at the end of the fight and couldn't even walk anymore, Asahina carried her on her shoulders and tokke her to the locker room...she did even make the salute to the judges and the tatami with her (not so light) teammate on her shoulders... chapeau! we saw some very entertaining judo this week, but for me this is the picture of the championships...

  7. huge surprise for me. I thought we are very weak in men's Kata hopefully it won't be another disappointing 4th finish. last night refs were too kind toward European athletes. the good thing is there is no European this time

  10. After a 14 year wait, Ruth Castillo will make the debut of her country in Rhythmic Gumnastics. I’m sorry for Barbara Domingos, but I’m glad the oldest rhythmic gymnast still around will go to Tokyo

  11. Sometimes a coach should know better and not give in to player wishes. Horrible penalty, clearly unfocused! They were crying and stressed two hours ago, it's not so easy to get back into competition mode just like that.

  21. Good luck to her. In our case, its just another, typical at those qualifications, lose of quota in last possible moment... Thanks God qualifications are approaching to end, I cant handle with that anymore.

  22. My prediction is 100% correct. 64kg Deng Wei is not selected because of her injury and absence of the public trial ACh. It’s unlucky but unsurprised.

  23. Wait, what? Mexico only 0.150 ahead of Brazil? Everything smells fishy to me. Sky high scores for a Mexican girl in the individual competition and an astonishingly low score for the Mexican group. Hmmm... I wonder what happened behind closed doors at PAGU before this event took place, seriously.

  25. Another story from my days in . Every year there was a national sports meet, of which the highlight was the Slow Bicycle Race, sort of like a track stand. For many years consecutively it was won by the father of the Monarch, the elderly Seri Begawan Sultan, who somehow always managed to beat the cream of the nation’s young, fit, jungle combat-trained Army Officers. People in Brunei are very polite, everyone clapped.

  27. I'm not Vektor, but I don't think it really is. Though it makes no difference. Only the medallists qualify directly, so only Clouvel and Gulyas. Langrehr will however qualify through the world ranking, so they are all qualified in the end.

  42. The guy had a very serious injury, didn't have any time to recover and they made him go to the Olympics anyway. I guess he's only performing on the pommel horse and rings. Maybe parallel bars, but it would still be too risky. This is absolutely mad. Poor Dalaloyan. I hope his coaches don't push him too hard to the point this could end his career.

  43. I think that's unlikely. there are 2 guys above him and removing only Colombia won't be enough. I think Albania will take that Asian unused quota. and Poland will go if they really ban Colombia. Canada will be next if someone gets injured or banned. which is always possible in this sport. I don't think Canada can receive the host unused quota. (even if one is available in this weight) that's for countries "not represented yet" this is interesting, when I was reviewing things, there were no chance for ZWARYCZ but now it seems he has a pretty good chance. I'm quite sure he wouldn't even think about going to Tokyo in his wildest dreams this qualification system does wonders. Poland may have 3 male weightlifters in Tokyo after all.

  45. If both Romania/Colombia are banned + CHina does not compete in 64 kg women and 96 kg men, then stands a good chance of winning two medals and possibly even 2 golds, which would be incredible for this sport.
