MHSN reacted to PHI2019 in Asian Games 2026
This came out on the official website yesterday. Updated list of events and competition schedules in Japanese.
Padel and Teqball are on the schedules. Looks like two events for Padel and five for Teqball.

On the sports programme PDF, Padel is #25 and Teqball is #38.

MHSN got a reaction from Quasit in Wrestling UWW European Championships 2026
in the first night of freestyle finals, Russia won 4 out of 5 golds. they have 2 in the final tomorrow, I think they can reach their pre-tournament goal of winning 6 golds.
but interestingly all 20 medalists of tonight were either from Ex-Soviet countries or Russian mercenaries representing somewhere else
I think it's fair to say men's freestyle wrestling is dead and buried in Europe unfortunately. (I mean the old Europe excluding Ex-Soviets) hopefully the new UWW policy pushes some of these countries to restart their own program instead of just buying mercenaries but that will take time.

Russia was never a super power in women's wrestling, they are just another decent team.
why ? that's simple. most of top Russian freestyle wrestlers are from Dagestan. probably 7-8 from the current team in Albania. and I assume in that region women are not encouraged to take this sport. if you remove Dagestan from Russia, their men's freestyle team will do more or less the same.
I'm not familiar with the Russian culture in general but I assume even nation-wide (and not only Dagestan) this is considered the men's sport.
of course in the World Championship those 3 teams you mentioned can go toe to toe with Russia or even do better. from this Russian team I only see Sadulaev to win the gold at worlds. (+ Sidakov if he returns and maybe Uguev depending on Japan's squad )
still the depth of Russian freestyle is unmatched. they can send their #5 guy and be still competitive for a top 6 finish, can't say the same about any other team.

interesting to know he is still alive, when was the last time he didn't bomb out?
his ego is much heavier than those weights which makes him very unlikeable. result-wise he is a legend though

Iran's economy before the revolution was OK but not good.
M.R. Pahlavi wasn't the worst dictator in the world but still a dictator and in my book there is no good dictator, they are all bad. and yeah that 1953 coup or what we call 28th Mordad Coup played big role in the current mess. (ironically those responsible for that coup now consider themselves defending democracy) 50 years before that Iran had a revolution called "Constitutional Revolution" to limit the king's (Shah) power massively and creating the parliament, that coup was essentially the end of that era, completely destroying the parliament and giving 100% power to the king.
if you rule a big country like Iran for something like 40 years, you start to believe you are the God himself, that was the problem with A. Khameneyi too.
btw at the time of revolution nobody knew he was dealing with cancer, that was revealed later.

of course the regime is stronger than it was 2 months ago, probably with more supporters, it's easy to gather people (some people at least) around the flag when the enemy bombards schools killing hundreds of schoolkids. they are rallying and celebrating on the streets every nights which is really annoying.
the 8 years war with Iraq solidified the regime at the time and I assume this one did the same.
I wasn't alive in 1970s, but I can tell there was Khomeini who was charismatic (I don't know why, he never even tried to look like a nice person, I still can't understand what people saw in him) he managed to gather all groups from left to right under his umbrella. there is no such a thing right now and beside that, this is not a simple dictatorship regime with one head. this regime is almost impossible to fall with force. the only way to beat it is through civil activities and we are far from that right now.

that little fella in CC skiing trying to beat those two ladies on the finish line sprint.
thinking about it, having a Dog sprint event makes more sense than some events there.

MHSN got a reaction from Roamingrover86 in Summer Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028 Qualification Systems
UWW announced they are going to review the ranking points allocation. we will see if they come up with something good. the current system is terrible terrible and unfair. they also made few other little changes to make the ranking more relevant
I gave it a little thought, something like 50-55 NOCs will qualify at least one wrestlers before the last chance qualifier. they won't be allowed to participate in this event. we usually have something like 60-70 countries in a World Championships, around 80-90 the year before the Olympics.
NOCs without quota can send max 2 wrestlers to the last tournament. by my count something like 30-40 NOCs with active wrestling program will be left without a quota. if all of them send 2 wrestlers we will have 70-80 wrestlers across 18 events. that's average of 3 or 4 wrestlers per event. we may end up with only 1 wrestler in some events.
I don't know maybe this isn't that bad. this will encourage some weaker non-active countries to take the last chance qualifier seriously. everybody has a chance there. it will be a super weak event. unless countries start buying Russian mercenaries
also there is a loophole here. if you are a NOC with 2 good/solid wrestlers, it's better if both of them fail to qualify, therefore you can have two near 100% chances in the last event. but if one of them qualifies earlier the other one is out of the Olympics already.

full list of 2026 Asian Games events in a PDF format
OCA did last minute changes before so this is not 100% final, let's say 99% final

diving within aquatics is a normal thing. much more than that
they already attached soft-tennis (completely different sport) to tennis
now they made it worse. Cricket wasn't in the original program (Japan wasn't interested) but they somehow made Japan interested. all of a sudden they also decided to add MMA. to make room for two new sports without breaking their rules. they created a new "Combat sports" including Kurash, Jujitsu and now MMA which also opens a spot for the new sport of Cricket.
they did that before in 2022 by adding 5-6 sports under the name of "Mind sports" or something like Mechanical sports in 2018.
the OCA regulation says they should have all sports from the previous (and not the next) Olympic + 1 sport from each region (5 in total) + 2 picked by the host country + 2 picked up by the OCA. that's 41 this time, we had 32 in Paris.
that was the original list before reshaping the list and adding Cricket and MMA
5 regional sports: Wushu (east), Kabaddi (south), Sepaktakraw (Southeast), Jujitsu (west) and Kurash (central)
2 Japan sports: Karate and Baseball/softball
2 OCA sports: Esports and Squash

I didn't want to write anything in this forum anymore but OK f..k it.
I managed to get the full list of events. not a PDF file to send but I can tell you anything you want to know about any sport.
it will be 460 events 217 for men, 204 for women plus 39 mixed/open events in 41 sports and 68 disciplines
keep in mind OCA has a weird way of counting the sports. they have a rule about not having more than 41 sports in the games, so they sometimes put some completely different sports in one category to circle around their own rules !!!

I didn't read the whole forum but I'm kind of sure one certain user wrote something like this yesterday or today or will write tomorrow when couple of Italians fail somewhere
