Unfortunately, Pilato is not as talented as Meliutyte to fight for gold in Paris. Pilato once seemed like a great talent when she broke the 50-meter world record. Then she was the 100 world champion in 2022 but with a rather poor time and a weak team. Actually, I wonder why there was such strong swimming in Ukraine - the times of Klochkowa, Lisogor etc, when there were very few such indoor 50-meter swimming pools. Once, when I was visiting a friend in Lutsk - sometime in 2017, I wanted to go to the swimming pool in the summer and it was only small recreational pool with many people. And Lutsk is a center of oblast city, so it's not that small.

Lutsk was a wonderful place to have a rest ) I spent some time there one summer and liked it very much.

Hard question to answer. I would say that the problem is complex - money + facilities + coaches must meet each other at the same place.

Earlier it was enough. But now the big problem of our sport is recovery and proper farmacy. We really lack of these.

I would say that swimming is not a mass sport in Ukraine. Different oblasts are focused on different sports. Only the capital and the largest cities are really multy-sport.

Based on what @Adriano and @phelps have said, here are 2 other perspectives of how the Russian quotas could be reallocated:

If the quotas are reallocated via direct rankings:

Women's -48kg: :AIN Sabina Giliazova reallocated to :ISR Tamar Malca

Women's -52kg: :AIN DNQ

Women's -57kg: :AIN Daria Kurbonmamadova reallocated to :UZB Shukurjon Aminova

Women's -63kg: :AIN Dali Liluashvili reallocated to :UKR Krystyna Homan (Continental Quota - Women's +78kg)

Women's -70kg: :AIN Madina Taimazova reallocated to :POR Tais Pina

Women's -78kg: :AIN DNQ

Women's +78kg: :AIN Elis Startseva reallocated to :DOM Moira Morillo

Men's -60kg: :AIN Ramazan Abdulaev reallocated to :ITA Andrea Carlino

Men's -66kg: :AIN Murad Chopanov reallocated to :TUR Muhammed Demiral

Men's -73kg: :AIN Makhmadbek Makhmadbekov reallocated to :CUB Magdiel Estrada

Men's -81kg: :AIN Timur Arbuzov reallocated to :MAR Achraf Moutti

Men's -90kg: :AIN Mikhail Igolnikov reallocated to :GER Eduard Trippel

Men's -100kg: :AIN Matvey Kanikovsky reallocated to :HUN Zsombor Veg

Men's +100kg: :AIN Inal Tasoev reallocated to :SLO Enej Marinic

If the quotas are reallocated the same way the returned quotas are then the following 12 athletes would replace the 12 :AIN

:MAR Achraf Moutti (Men's -81kg)

:SWE Ida Eriksson (Women's -70kg)

:GER Eduard Trippel (Men's -90kg)

:HUN Zsombor Veg (Men's -100kg)

:ISR Tamar Malca (Women's -48kg)

:CRO Ana Viktorija Puljiz (Women's -52kg)

:POL Aleksandra Kaleta (Women's -52kg)

:UZB Shukurjon Aminova (Women's -57kg)

:POR Telma Monteiro (Women's -57kg)

:BEL Mina Lebber (Women's -57kg)

:POR Tais Pina (Women's -70kg)

:UKR Anton Savytskiy (Men's -100kg)

If reallocations are based off the first scenario then the following athletes lose their quotas:

:SLO Enej Marinic (Men's +100kg)

:UKR Krystyna Homan (Women's +78kg)

:DOM Moira Morillo (Women's +78kg)

:CUB Magdiel Estrada (Men's -71kg)

The second scenario states unchanged.

In terms of the potential Universality/Continental returned quotas, the second scenario once again staying the same with the only change on the first scenario being :CUB Magdiel Estrada slotting in behind :MAR Achraf Moutti.

both players rejected + invited players not showing up = a few changes in the projected seeds, too

especially, Teddy Riner would benefit from Russia's absence in terms of seeding but also in terms of degree of difficulty of the entire tournament (the men's 100kg and 73kg also lose guys who could have seriously fought for gold)

good for Lombardo, as Lavrentiev would have been one of the strongest opponents for him (and he wouldn't be seeded, so, even more dangerous for all the medal candidates) :coffee:
