 qualified a men's 4x100 medley relayteam in today's prelims. Last time we entered this event at the Games was London 2012. Now finally we have a decent backstroke swimmer, Kai van Westering. Together with Caspar Corbeau/Arno Kamminga (breast), Nyls Korstanje (fly) and Stan Pijnenburg (free) a very nice team.

This is an interesting case to point out. What is the rule book, if Ireland doesn't manage to qualify their swimmers individually?

Decision of World Beaureu, it's a case of that un the rules. Ireland could receive additional places.

We have one man qualified under Swim Ireland’s conditions (Wiffen in distance swimming). Another has the standard but didn’t get it at the Swim Ireland designated events (Tom Fannon in 50m free) but they don’t compete in relays

 

For Tokyo swim Ireland had to adjust their own criteria to accept an invitation
