I think it’s important to consider this as well. “They confirmed that Wieslander himself had never accepted the Olympic gold medal allocated to him, and had always been of the opinion that Jim Thorpe was the sole legitimate Olympic gold medallist. ” I’d have to defer to @Dragon, but I believe there’s also some uncertainty about other athlete’s amateur credentials as well. Unless I’m mixing this up with something else or hearsay. Its an incredibly unfortunate situation all the way around.

There’s a significant weather system moving through the area now. I was over at Fistball for the finals, and heard some thunder a few minutes before the bronze medal game was postponed.

These guys gave me a great laugh last night. They were let on to the field for the medal ceremony. Some great photos. Also, there was an American fan heckling Canada, so the German lacrosse team got behind them and started heckling the Americans. It was a rowdy and fun final.

Yep. She was originally the silver medalist before gold and bronze were DSQ. Bart Swings’ entourage wasn’t sure when I talked it over with him. There is normally a ranking generated on time, but it appears they decided to only give out the gold medal.

Yep. I quite liked his commentary on roller speed skating, but with the understanding he wasn’t too familiar with the sport. I believe he’s doing the commentary for around ten sports.

If you recognize the voice it’s because he was one of the badminton commentators in Tokyo.
