  1. Well, I'm not sure. But seems a bit like wild card to me since the nations can choose event they want. And since it is not based on championships results or rankings.
  2. According to this Togo received wild cards for men's 200m and women's 100m in athletics.
  3. Great, now we finally know how reallocation works!
  4. Yes, it should be. New list has been published, and NZL has declined quotas in both women's Laser Radial and women's RS:X http://www.sailing.org/tools/documents/2016QualifiedNationsMNAconfirmationfromallevents31.05.16-[20791].pdf Women's Laser Radial quota should go to Spain. Women's RS:X quota should go to Sweden (will likely refuse), after that we have Germany (will also likely refuse), and after that we have Latvia!
  5. Nice for Chile. But also sad for Bolivia... They were right behind Chile. If their rider didn't have a DNF maybe they would get this quota.
  6. It would be great if Indonesia sneaked it, but I'm not sure how the reallocation of host quotas works! The question is whether the nations that didn't qualify through nations rankings (but qualified individually) are counted as unqualified and therefore eligible to get host quotas. I have a feeling that Indonesia might be unlucky.
  7. Thailand is above Argentina in the individual rankings.
  8. There are also few reallocations in women's time trial. Russia and Belarus lose one of their time trial quotas because they qualified only one rider. Czech Republic loses its quota after failing to qualify in road race. Ukraine, Sweden and Japan receive those reallocations. Next in line for possible reallocations are Poland, Luxembourg, France and Switzerland.

  10. Who knows, maybe Samoa will get their first Olympic medal... 4th place in Beijing in women's +75kg
  11. Nobody knows. It's a similar situation with Lebanon who allegedly got wild card in C1, what should be impossible since Lebanon didn't compete at the World Championships last year (and only nations that competed are allowed to compete in Rio, according to qualification system).
  12. I don't think they have to choose... Qualification says nothing about that, nor is that a case in any other wild card situation. Also, qualification document technically doesn't say how many wild cards can nation get. It just seems like tripartite nations are being completely prioritized for this Olympic cycle. Remember, we had a similar situation in sailing where the tripartite quotas went to already qualified nations (instead of going to unqualified non-tripartite nations like in 2012...) And nobody assumed that Angola/Bermuda have to return something...
  13. First athlete for Suriname, men's 100m http://road-to-rio.com/
  14. A whole bunch of nations had more MQS qualifiers than Bolivia. Armenia has more MQS than both Malta and Bolivia and yet they got nothing.
  15. Looks like Nepal and Montenegro are the only tripartite nations that didn't apply. I'm surprised that Barbados bothered to apply. Remember, in 2012 they were the only nation without a female athlete. No woman from Barbados qualified and they didn't want to send any wild card athlete.
  16. Bolivia, Pakistan, Oman and Malta got 2 wild cards?? I don't care if they are tripartite nations, getting two wild cards is like cheating!
  17. As per their Olympic rules, South Africa won't be accepting continental quotas (especially not reallocated continental quotas), That means the next best non-Egyptian athlete from Africa is athlete from Mauritius.
  18. So, if Egypt chooses El Geziry brothers, then the African quota will go to the next best nation from Africa?
  19. Also available on http://www.redbull.tv/
  20. Well, I guess this represents the return of demonstration sports to the Olympics. Well, at least that's the best way of looking at it.
  21. Motorbikes and cars continue to play pinball with cyclists...
