  1. Looks like Nesta Carter was the doped Jamaican. Bolt might lose his relay medal.
  2. Košice looks like some uthopia city in this video! P.S. Did you try that tobogganing thing?

  4. She even had an exactly the same time as in Rabat! 1:56.64
  5. And the Japanese trials are over. Yuko Kitai (Don Lorean) 69.234% Masanao Takahashi (Fabriano) 66.334% Kiichi Harada (Egistar) 65.783% Akane Kuroki (Toots) 65.183% Reserve: Shingo Hayashi (Ramses) 63.950% Everyone is going to their first Olympics, except Yuko Kitai (competed in 2008)... And also horse Fabriano, who was ridden by Renate Voglsang (AUT) in London. Actually, Egistar is the only horse that Japanese didn't buy during the last year. All other horses are pretty much the experienced "schoolmasters" they bought for mostly inexperienced riders, just for this occasion (and for the future experience I guess). EDIT: Japanese jumping team was also named today http://www.worldofshowjumping.com/en/News/Japanese-team-for-Olympic-Games-in-Rio-announced.html
  6. Looks like Lebanon really did get that wild card in men's C1. First ever quota for Lebanon in canoeing. http://sports-961.com/richard-merjan-2016-rio-olympic-games/ Their athlete is also very sure about that on his Facebook page.
  7. Palau will have 5-6 athletes, so it will be much easier to follow every one of them closely. Zimbabwe will have 30+, I'm still going to follow them, but not as closely I guess.
  8. I'd like to switch my first and second choice if possible. Palau > Zimbabwe
  9. UCI is reallocating the host quota at the end of the process and it is going to the best nation in nations ranking not already qualified. Indonesia is the highest ranked unqualified nation in the nations ranking (in 19th place). They used the same formula for reallocation of host quotas in both road cycling and mountain bike,
  10. Ok, so I removed the shooting reallocations, but athletics and swimming wild cards will be here. Also added the wonderful canoeing wild card for Palau.
  11. And probably the worst part is that she can't receive wild card in 3000m steeplechase (thanks to stupid IAAF rules). If she doesn't make it she will probably compete in 1500m like in 2012, what is annoying because 3000m steeplechase is obviously her best event.
  12. Nice for Palau! I would assume the quota went to Marina Toribiong, pretty much their only athlete (in women's K1). But it also looks like Cook Islands didn't win a quota in C1 200.

  14. I believe this was the order of things. Brazil qualified one individual, meaning that they only used one of two host quotas. The other host quota was given to the highest ranked nation not already qualified (Colombia). To keep the number of athletes on 67, France had to give away one quota. #UCI_logic
  15. That also explains the mystery about Puerto Rico's qualification in the men's road race! Puerto Rico was the highest ranked unqualified nation in the American tour (though only in 12th position). This should mean that UCI is applying the reallocation of the host quotas at the end of the process, meaning that Indonesia qualified in men's BMX instead of Chile.
  16. Makes no sense whatsoever. Who knows, maybe that's how Puerto Rico got its quota in men's road race, by mistake!
  17. Final rankings are out. It's the same as mrv wrote, except that UKR finished ahead of BLR (although that doesn't change anything). Denmark, Costa Rica and Hong Kong just missed out on qualification.
  18. The opening ceremony is in two days, believe it or not. I'm sure that Slovakian organizers are making the final touches for the big show!
  19. Here comes few suggestions... Archery No less than 7 tie-break situations will occur in the men's singles competition Athletics A jump of less than 8 meters will be enough to make men's long jump final At least 125 athletes will finish the women's marathon At least 3 Olympic records will be broken At least 1 athlete will fall during the finals of women's 100m hurdles or men's 110m hurdles Canoeing At least 2 nations will make finals in all four canoe slalom events Mountain bike Nino Schurter (SUI) will win an Olympic gold medal after getting a silver and a bronze at the previous two Games At least 5 athletes in men's cross-country race will be lapped Equestrian At least 15 athletes will be eliminated or will retire during the cross-country stage of eventing competition A score of 70.000% will not be enough to qualify for Grand Prix Special, the second stage of individual dressage competition Modern Pentathlon At least one athlete (male or female) will score less than 10 victories in the fencing stage Sailing There will be at least one day of no racing because of unfavorable weather conditions Synchronized Swimming At least 4 nations will win medals in synchronized swimming events Triathlon The eventual winners of both men's and women's races will not be in the top five places after swimming and cycling stages Volleyball None of the matches in the semifinal stage will end with 3-0 score Weightlifting At least 1 athlete from group B will win a medal At least 1 leader after the snatch phase will bomb-out in the clear&jerk phase Wrestling At least 3 nations will win gold medals in both men's freestyle and men's greco-roman wrestling At least 1 match in the gold medal finals will end with FALL
  20. Looks like South Africa made an exception to their own rules, as they accepted diving quota in women's springboard. In some other sports (like gymnastics and canoeing) they didn't accept continental quotas as we expected... http://www.sascoc.co.za/2016/05/25/initial-names-announced-for-team-sa-at-the-2016-rio-olympics/ This probably means no reallocaion and the first diving participation for Croatia.
