  1. Switzerland selected Lukas and Simon Werro for C2 http://swissolympicteam.ch/olympische-spiele/sommerspiele/rio-2016/news/Drei-weitere-Triathleten-und-zwei-Kanuten-Rio-2016-selektioniert.html
  2. Japanese dressage selection trials will be held on June 1-2. Apparently they will ride Grand Prix tests on both days and the top four will be selected. Reasonable decision, considering that their chance of progressing from Grand Prix stage of competition is ZERO. Six riders will compete: Yuko Kitai (Don Lorean) Masanao Takahashi (Fabriano) Akane Kuroki (Toots) Shingo Hayashi (Ramses, Clearwater) Kazuki Sado (Ziroco) Kiichi Harada (Egistar)
  3. I agree, women's C1 is unwatchable... At least there should be more quotas for other events (K1 M, C1 M, K1 W) in 2020, what would be good news for lesser nations like Croatia. That's because all 24 athletes quotas from C2 won't go to women's C1 (they don't deserve anything more than 12 quotas IMO).
  4. That's great news. Dika Toua is perhaps the only lifter that competed at every Olympics since the introduction of women's weightlifting in 2000. She is also the first woman who lifted at the Olympics, as she opened the women's -48kg event in 2000.
  5. Also, unofficially Kosovo and Equatorial Guinea received wild cards for men's events. If that really happens that would be really bad, a waste of quotas actually. Their athletes are much weaker than Oceania's... These are unofficial wild cards so far (according to Indian NOC, apparently). Men - + 3 remaining Women - + 2 remaining Even if all remaining go to Oceania, some good nations will still miss out. Plus, this list is also missing America.
  6. Yeah, I guess this wasn't a goal of this rule. Bahamas and Angola for example profited from this rule, that's ok. Denmark getting additional boat is not so good (especially if the one who is losing it has much fewer boats qualified). But I don't think any special provisions will be made.
  7. You better inform him that Belgium is not a Tripartite nation.
  8. Badminton wild cards are confirmed. http://bwfbadminton.com/2016/05/25/trio-get-rio-2016-tripartite-places/ Congrats . No wild cards in women's singles have been awarded.
  9. Quota allocation. Men's XC 3 - 2 - 1 - Change of continental quotas. to , to . gets Oceania quota (the other Oceania is going to Russia through rankings, because there is no other Oceanian nation) Women's XC 2 - 1 - Change of continental quota. to .
  10. Pejčić wins Munchen World Cup with 6 points margin.
  11. We really need those Martians to take care of such things.
  12. At least Romania's women's eights crew didn't have the same fate of their gymnastics team... They never failed to qualify in this event and they have won a medal in women's eight at eight consecutive Olympics (1980-2008).
  13. Honduras' selection for a wild card athlete in wrestling is very questionable. They chose a girl who only competed at the American QT, and there she got crushed in her first match. Meanwhile, Kevin Mejia, who won Honduras' only medal at 2015 Pan Ams, and who reached the qurterfinals at the final OQT doesn't get selected... This could easily be a case of corruption in Honduras Wrestling Federation.
  14. It should be published tomorrow (25th May), according to qualification system.
  15. It is official now. Hiroshi Hoketsu will not become the oldest Olympian ever in Rio. http://www.eurodressage.com/equestrian/2016/05/24/hiroshi-hoketsu-and-dr-jorge-da-rocha-out-2016-rio-olympic-contention
  16. Well, it would be fine if he gets that wild card. I just hope that he doesn't replace that cross-country specialist who has been chasing Olympic points for the last two years. That would seem unfair.
  17. Four wild cards in wrestling have been announced. The remaining four will be decided at a later date. https://unitedworldwrestling.org/article/four-universality-places-for-wrestling-awarded-by-ioc Congrats
  18. First five nations get 3 quotas in men's. 6th-13th get 2 quotas.
  19. There is also max 2 athletes rule for continental qualifiers. Meaning that nation can't qualify anything besides C2 boat. But looks like there is an exception here because Eichfeld is competing in two events.
  20. I always knew that Niger was a volleyball nation, even though they have never even competed at the African Championships (according to Wiki). More to the point, this is about team sports. And it seems quite wrong. Israel has ice hockey?? Handball in Algeria.... I'd say those are just completely wrong. Sweden should rather have ice hockey.
  21. Looks like that's because Eichfeld is competing in both C1 and C2.
