Comparing what Ghana hosted at the African Games and what was on the program at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, we are missing cycling (mountain and track), diving, gymnastics (artistic and rhythmic), lawn bowls, netball, powerlifting and squash. We may be able to fit gymnastics, netball, powerlifting and squash in venues which had events not part of the Commonwealth Games. It looks like Ghana has a pre-existing mountain bike course and possibly a place to host lawn bowls. I'm unable to tell if the swimming venue also has diving boards so that and track cycling may have to dropped from the program or given to a different host.

So sad to see what was once one of our top sports being reduced to just a few boats.

Qualification round is currently going After 24 arrows the top 3 for men are D'Amour, Arcila and Enriquez while for women it is Esebua, Pagan and Chenier The finalists qualify to the Olympics. Also the team quota will be decided during the actual Pan American Championships held later this week where the winner will qualify (except Mexico in the women who are already qualified, then the quota will go to the runner-up).

Quite a few upsets in the women's sabre as both the top 2 ranked athletes have lost. The semifinals are: v v Argentina is the favourite now.

Cuba was the big winner from this championships. Not totally unexpected, they only had one quota going into the event and typically they are one of the strongest nations in shooting after the United States

Women's epee, pool round is completed. Joining already advanced are Chile with a good performance to grab the third seed. Looks like her Pan American Games performance was not a fluke. On the other side, Paraguay despite having a chance to win the quota, just barely made it to the elimination round.

No stopping the train today. Only Georgia has qualified so far and that's because they weren't on their half of the bracket.

For him, it would be judo. All he needs to do is literally show up to one event which awards points and he will qualify to the Olympics. This is assuming no more Pacific nations decide they too would like a free quota.

Men's sabre semifinals v v

In the men's sabre, got a bye into the elimination round. Joining him are

Nations advancing to the women's foil elimination round Top ranked Brazil lost three times in the pool. Despite going into the competition as the big favourites, they are now seeded 8th.

Men's epee pool round is complete. Received a bye to the elimination stage Advanced to the elimination stage (in order) The big winner is the athlete from Jamaica who finished undefeated in his pool. Of course the top seed will be a lot harder.

Officially, the IOC/FIE doesn't count the fourth "alternate" athlete as part of their official quota.

Through the tripartite quota, but I would prefer if other people get it. He's also eligible to get a taekwondo tripartite quota.

Oddly, New Zealand doesn't have a nomination criteria for taekwondo. Historically, they have been selected. In general, New Zealand wants a top 16 finish with the potential of finishing in the top 8 which taekwondo fulfills

I thought the United States would take 3-4 quotas, but at best than can only win one. There's still the world qualifiers starting next week, but if they repeat their performance they may leave empty handed. It's not like another nation is having a great performance, the six quotas awarded have been awarded to different nations.

The IOC will find someone to run the 100m if it comes down to it. They are pretty big on ensuring participation for all nations. The other option is for the tripartite committee to give one of the taekwondo quotas (women's -49kg or -57kg) to Somalia. With that said, taekwondo quotas are quite competitive, but their hand might be forced (kind of like with Liechtenstein).

I mean it was quite clear that Kharun wanted to swim for the United States, but the whole citizenship issue forced his hand. Three years is a long time waiting for a change though so he might reconsider.

Kim Minseop might be the logical choice out of the options listed

She might not win gold, but a medal is quite possible. She's currently 3rd in the rankings
