  1. Correct, especially for out of competition testing. Like there may only be a 1-3% chance they visit you on a particular day (though I imagine the chances increase as you get flagged for missed tests). Though that may be a reason why people don't update their whereabouts, since the chances are so unlikely.
  2. Not speaking about this specific case, but a lot of times athletes forget to update there whereabout rather than trying to hide something. With that said, it's pretty dumb of you to not keep it update, especially if you are an Olympic-level athlete.
  3. So among missing Olympic events: No open water swimming Boxing is missing men's -65kg, women's -57kg, and women's -70kg Canoeing swapped the men's K1 1000m and C1 1000m with 500m events Golf is missing the mixed team event, but has separate men's and women's teams Artistic Gymnastics is missing the mixed team event Rowing is missing costal rowing and the men's 4-, men's 8+, women's 4x and women's 8+ Sailing is missing the men's and women's formula kite and the mixed Nacra 17. Sport climbing swapped speed with speed 4. Table tennis won't have mixed team, but will have men's and women's team Boxing missing events is a bit surprising, but that could be due to the unknown status of boxing so I wouldn't be surprised if they add the events back in. The other events I don't see being added either because of lack of venue or being replaced with an alternative. I'd like to see the missing sailing events added, but I wouldn't count on it. We've already talk about the bizarre youth sailing events and two equestrian jumping height events, but I'd also like to point out that for eSports they put Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, and The King of Fighters XV into one team event called "Competitive Martial Arts." Was there some kind of maximum events eSports could have?
  4. Correct. With that said, is putting in the resources to recruit players of Bahamian descent and making a push to qualify to the World Cup and Olympics. They were almost successful in making it to Paris.
  5. Hopefully we'll go full power (at least for Pan Am standards) next time
  6. also saw a big decrease in medals relative to 2021, but they were the host nation so they have a bit of an excuse. are probably disappointed with their performance. Costa Rica went from 10 medals to 1. The biggest winner is as they went from not caring to semi-caring, giving them an increase of 53 medals relative to 2021. also gained a healthy 28 medals and that's despite still not competing in athletics or swimming. gained 22 medals and sent a more competent team and won 15 medals after winning none in 2021.
  7. Looks like Cuba was able the sneak past Chile on the final day, while the two golds from Guatemala wasn't enough to break into the top 10 due to having fewer silvers.
  8. Looks like Canada was able to close the gap against Chile going into the final day.
  9. Most definitely. It also helps keep sport programs alive in smaller places.
  10. It's possible, but requires a lot of things to go our way. The statement was more that I find it very unlikely for Chile to move up on its current ranking, Mexico and Argentina are too far away in my opinion.
  11. Colombia vs. United States for 2nd will be interesting to watch. I think Chile has a better chance of falling to 7th than finishing 4th. Ecuador will probably move ahead of Guatemala to finish in the top 10. Still lots in play in the overall medal table.
  12. I'm assuming you have checked out the list of International Sport Federations As mentioned this might get a bit too big. We may have to restrict it to sports/events who regularly have at least 8-12 nations participating at the World Championships/equivalent.
  13. So now that the events are over. Which sports/events (if any) would you like to see added to the Olympics?
  14. That's pretty bad. I hope there's at least a rule preventing the same rider/horse combo from competing in both jumping events. Do you know if coastal rowing will be at the games?
  15. I heard there's 7 events in Equestrian. Does that mean they've added Endurance to the program? I'm really struggling to think of 68 disciplines. Maybe they have things like kata/kumite in karate and freestyle/greco-roman in wrestling?
  16. Unfortunately Canada doesn't care about these games. Our delegation size is about half the size it should be due to lack of funds and in many sports we are competing in we aren't sending our best. We also don't have the same kind of depth as the United States. Still, we are in a much better position than we were in 2021 and I would like to think we'll finish in the top 10. One day, I hope we can send a full delegation where we're only missing a few athletes due to commitments to the senior team.
  17. That's not surprising. It's definitely a Pan American sport
  18. It's not Bolivia's fault that they put all of their skills into racquetball.
  19. Here's some of their early history It's the classic, a bunch of friends decided to start playing, got international results which leads to more funding which leads to more success. There's definitely a movie that could be made. With this and their world junior women's gold medal.
  20. I'm of the opinion that all Olympic events should have at least 12 entrants (if you can't justify 12 entrants then you shouldn't be an Olympic event), but given we don't live in an ideal world and athlete quotas force some events to have less then the best thing they could do is remove the guaranteed continental participation requirement. Top 16 was an okay compromise, top 24 won't exclude anyone unless the continental championship was cancelled.
  21. 22 nations won at least one medal
  22. Nice to see the future of shotgun shooting is still strong for
  23. Competition started today with rowing and shooting ahead of the opening ceremony
  24. That's one way for Brazil to finish at the top of the medal table. We see it in the Commonwealth Games albeit with a very limited para program. Only way this works is if they expand the games to three weeks.
  25. Yeah, not sure if they are using AI to write stuff, but you should really review the work (regardless if it was AI or human generated).
