  1. It could be 15 if IJF didn't count AIN in its nation count
  2. Mixed team quotas and tripartite quotas are not split between genders so there was always a chance that more athletes from one gender will compete.
  3. So according to the event page. It looks like the tripartite quotas have been awarded, but I am unable to find the list...
  4. Weird, maybe it's my browser...
  5. Does the men's/women's doubles entry appear for anyone else?
  6. I really wished was in a different group they could have had a chance, but I feel Spain is a bit too powerful.
  7. Yeah, I can understand why nations like New Zealand or South Africa decline continental quotas due to lack of competition, but any European that qualifies has earned the spot IMO.
  8. I think the best athlete should be selected in swimming. The Olympics aren't the only event, we have the World Championships, continental championships and games
  9. Looking "before CR7" Portugal had quarterfinal or better appearances in Euros 1996 and 2000, they also made the 2002 World Cup. Quite the stretch, missing only the 1998 World Cup over the past 28 years. It's more amazing when you consider before then they only qualified in three major tournaments.
  10. Won't the other golfers also get to be registered?
  11. That's correct, it was always 45 athletes through standard/world ranking and 3 for universality.
  12. I agree. Most events wouldn't even need to remove quota places to accommodate them. The field and long distance events are fine, just tack on the extra athletes. The issue would be the 200m and 400m where lanes become a problem. The solution would be to follow the 800m and have a max of 3 universality athletes per event compete.
  13. As mentioned, you don't need to be a competitor to be the flag bearer. In 2008, boxer Manny Pacquiao was selected as flag bearer for the Philippines despite never competing at the games.
  14. Looks like got a tripartite quota in taekwondo, women's -49kg
  15. Literally the last qualifier. NOCs across all sports have until July 8th to accept or decline their quotas so that reallocations can occur.
  16. I haven't heard anything from or yet, but I imagine the IOC will make sure they will attend.
  17. One of these things is not like the other
  18. It's being played on TSN in Canada
  19. The conspiracy theory essentially writes itself.
  20. It wouldn't be the first time an athlete with no ranking is given a tripartite quota
  21. The qualification document now has Argentina crossed out The quotas were reallocated to and I can't remember if it was mentioned yet, but lost their quota in dressage and now has the spot Also the reallocated jumping quota to has been declined and now goes to
  22. Every now and then, but what does that have to do with anything? Their record speaks for themselves.
  23. Yeah, I didn't think he would go for the men's doubles and just focus on singles and mixed.
  24. A medal was unlikely for the men's team. We need a very favourable path. While we had a good performance at the nation's league that was due to our schedule. We didn't have to face or and actually only have a 2-3 record against the top 8. Among the nations which qualified to the Olympics we only have a 4-4 record. Decent, but not medal worthy.
