  1. https://nypost.com/2026/01/31/sports/team-canada-skeleton-coach-joe-cecchini-speaks-out-after-american-katie-uhlaender-manipulation-claim/ Oh the drama.... Cecchini: “I don’t really wanna speak negatively about Katie, but Katie was not on the World Cup team. She wasn’t a top-tier athlete in that program anymore. She was at the end of her career. I would personally would rather race against Katie. She’s not as competitive as the other athletes,” he said. “It’s probably really unfair to say and not really where I want to go with this but that’s where we are with that.” Uhlaender: “If I were Canada, I would be concerned in how this coach is representing the Olympic values for his country,” Uhlaender told Fox News Digital. “He hurt a whole field of athletes, all with dreams, and this sends the message that they don’t matter unless they are number one. All athletes matter, and we all deserve to compete fairly, with integrity, and respect. He did not respect anyone in that field. “This is not about my resume or how good the athletes were in the race. This is about the fact that he intentionally manipulated the competition to hurt myself and 13 other countries because he felt it necessary to eliminate all possibility. That is against the spirit of sport and not what the Olympic movement represents.” Isn't it great when other people's dirty laundry is aired? /sarcasm (I was a little surprised to see NPR pick this up, but per this article, Uhlaender preemptively recorded the phone call after receiving a text from Cecchini that said he had 'bad news' for her.)
  2. Idea (that I don't want to mess with right now, but someone else can steal the idea): Could feed the docs from LA28 + Paris 2024 through AI and see what it says. (Would just take downloading them, perhaps merging them for ease of upload, and passing it through.)
  3. From ATP's Facebook: Federer, Nadal and Alcaraz all won their first Australian Open at: 22 years old In their fifth appearance In their first final All on the date February 1st https://www.atptour.com/en/news/alcaraz-federer-nadal-australian-open-crazy-fact
  4. So sorry to hear about Lindsey Vonn's crash... I hope she is okay #1, and #2 I just hate it for her, if it dampens her chances at succeeding in Milan. She had such an amazing WC season leading up to this. For her sake, I hope she can find a way to pull through. Regardless, I hope she is proud of what she has already accomplished this year (not to mention everything else in her past).
  5. Week 4 - 26 Jan-01 Feb Tennis - Some good success here at the Australian Open! Men's Singles - Learner Tien and Ben Shelton made it to the QF. Women's Singles - Iva Jovic, Coco Gauff, and Amanda Anasimova made it to the QF. Jessica Pegula made it to the SF. Men's Doubles - Christian Harrison and Neal Skupski won! Women's Doubles - Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova made it to the QF. Mixed Doubles - Christian Harrison/Irina Khromacheva and JJ Tracy/Anna Danilina made it to QF, while Taylor Townsend/Nicola Mektic made it to SF. Squash - Olivia Weaver fought hard, but ended up in 2nd. Soccer - We beat Chile 5-0. Road Cycling - Luke Lamperti ended up in 12th (in the lead pack) in the Great Ocean Road Race. Equestrian - A USA sweep of the podium, with Kyle King taking top prize. (Holy cow the sum of the prize amounts are massive...$340,000 for this event.) Table Tennis - Hasn't quite wrapped up with, but given the rankings, Kanak Jha should end up in second (unless he can pull an upset over Hugo Calderano), and Lily Zhang should also end up in second (unless she beats Bruna Takahashi). Edit: Amy Wang took out Bruna! So, USA ends up 1-2. And second edit: Amy Wang wins over Lily Zhang, despite being a lower ranking (61 vs 37). Played great! Rugby Sevens - US Women came up in 4th in Singapore. Cricket - The men won a practice round against Oman, and we're doing two more warm-ups this week in preparation for the WC. The Women, unfortunately, ended up in 5th place, being the first out in the Qualifier for the WC. But hopefully they earned some good experience for the future! Coming up in Week 5 - A ton! Nevermind that the Olympics also start... Cricket - The men have two warm-up matches this week before starting the World Cup later. Table Tennis - North American Championships Tennis - Women have a tourney in Abu Dhabi. Our Men will face in the Davis Cup. Road Cycling - Perhaps Chloe Dygert or another American woman will also be in ? Flag Football - Our men play vs. on Thursday...watch on the NFL Youtube. (This is an exhibition match, but it's unofficially to see who 'won' the gold from the recent championship game that got called off.) Squash - Another Platinum tourney in Chicago. Fencing - Foil and Épée will be contested. Wrestling - Zagreb Open time! Rhythmic Gymnastics - We have a US Event. Rugby Sevens - Our women will have a Try (pun, sorry!) down in . Equestrian - World Cup Jumping in . Boxing - US International Open Judo - Paris Grand Slam I also added the Indoor Archery and Track/Field events to the calendar, but I didn't post any results, simply because the events are different. But Brady Ellison has still achieved some success in Archery (as has Nicholas D'Amour, who shows USA, but competes for in the Olympics), and the two indoor athletics meets thus far have featured primarily American athletes, but the upcoming ones in the next couple of weeks are in Europe...probably will feature European athletes.

  7. Pro of being in America and having Sunday be the first day of the week...Olympics are this week!
  8. Lindsey Vonn airlifted to hospital after crashing into nets in Crans-Montana downhill - FIS Alpine Ski World Cup 2025-2026 https://share.google/AYOsVTw0i94RlCseT :(. Hope she recovers well!
  9. Olivia Weaver was up 9-4 in the 5th game. Hania El Hammamy then scored 5 straight points to tie it up. Then, took the lead with a sixth straight point, then won with a 7th straight point, taking the Sprott Tournament of Champions in New York. Still, congrats to Weaver for bringing home second place! (And congrats to El Hammamy...what a streak at the end!)
  10. One thing working in our favor with Luge is that Women's Doubles is just one sled per NOC, so I like our chances there. We'll be 3rd or 4th in the Relay (one of my favorite events)...if everyone slides cleanly, we'll probably be 4th, behind , , and ...but anything can happen in the relay. (I think in my official predictions I had us 3rd. Wishful thinking, I suppose.)
  11. @phelps Personally, I enjoy looking (afterwards) to see what other people think. This being a game with no value other than fun, if anyone wants to 'cheat', that's on them. (Also, congrats on 20,000 posts! Wow!)
  12. Unless doing so can get you into the Olympics without kicking out Ro, perhaps.
  13. Dispute over the Olympic medal stripped from US gymnast Jordan Chiles goes back to Swiss court | AP News https://share.google/s0zQiSPKNTExyWxbG This is back in the news now...
  14. I was just doing my prediction on the other thread, and then I calculated... I had 21 Gold, 8 Silver, 15 Bronze. Probably a little too hopeful. Oops! (And I didn't even think I was being too optimistic as I was filling it out...guess so...)
  15. Here's the report, for anyone interested. (It's not as damning towards the Canadians as the headlines would lead you to believe...not shocked.). In here, it does seem as if Uhlaender was hoping to get picked over Ro...yet I thought I read elsewhere (sorry, can't find the source right now) that she ultimately didn't want to take Ro's place... (which wouldn't make sense if it wasn't going to increase our quota). She's probably upset at a number of things...not being picked to WC team first, not having a place for the Olympics, and then this with Canada. It is interesting that the USOPC is backing this, though...one would hope that it wouldn't stoop to the level of personal grievances... final-order-uhlaender-1-1.pdf
  16. Haha...I just did my official predictions. I had 21 Gold, 8 Silver, 15 Bronze. Probably a little too hopeful. It's my optimism kicking in...

  19. Wright finally on the podium! (Sorry, I was late to the party.)
  20. I think there must have been something between them, too. Why would she have recorded a phone conversation? Any why would he have said that? Weird...
  21. I also didn't like the title of this article (but the article itself was the best choice of the ones I found...the others being on sites with a million ads).
  22. By comparison...in 2022, had 16, had 12, and had 9.
  23. https://www.uipmworld.org/news/race-across-china-guiyang-host-uipm-2026-pentathlon-world-championships Changes to the sport: 100m swim instead of 200m 5th shooting at the start of the Laser Run Interesting!
  24. https://www.thetimes.com/sport/olympics/article/boost-usa-skeleton-star-winter-olympics-sabotage-case-q2z85qz5w Looks like she had a successful appeal...but no consequences as of now.
