can someone explain to me how the playoff works? i know the first places are automatically qualified however teams can still be qualified through the regular euro 2020 qualification process. So israel finished second , can we still get into the playoffs?

IOC will probably try to award Milan like tomorrow, so they cant change their mind. If both Stockholm and Milan fall IOC is staring at the abyss, running to Salt Lake for 2026 is great for us americans, however it's horrible for IOC, just think about the publicity of "the olympics that no one wanted" and i honestly dont see it changing any time soon, some major MAJOR changes needs to be made or the olympics will really become a thing of the past. In 3 months they might stay only with Milan, i wonder if they will try to quickly award it at that point before they drop out as well. Robert Livingstone from Gamesbid assumes that once all 3 drop out the IOC will go to Salt Lake City and beg them to hold it there, and along the way give another good deal to L.A (because they have exclusive sponsorship until 2028) If that happens USA puts monopoly on big events with Winter Olympics, World cup and Summer olympics in 2 years span I love to be an American

It's so painful to watch this whole process now, with all the referendums, all the cancelled bids, hell all 3 of the 2026 bids might get dropped! even the 2028 LA Olympics now facing growing opposition within the city, it just makes me worried to see where we are going

NFL Coming back with 2 great teams (Chargers season ticket holder right here), new Soccer stadium, Lakers on the rise again, World Cup, OLYMPICS (with plenty of events coming up as tests) , I LOVE L.A But i do agree that things have to be done together, not just one city, kinda like what stockholm 2026 doing with sigulda, to not build a sledding track, it will be harder on fans, but easier on economy

I'm sorry but no, more billions of dollars in spending, more white elephant stadiums, more controversy, would they put the money in? Sure, but why? you don't have enough unused stadiums from South Africa? you will have plenty from russia, qatar. World Cup (and olympics) should be in places with proven sports culture, so yes, smaller countries will be blacklisted but it will curb spending that can shut that smaller country down. FIFA (and IOC) should have a list of approved locations where their travelling carnival can go to (you wont get white elephants in England, Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Brazil) This insane spending on events need to stop just to show who's bigger I see you are from L.A like me (where from btw?) We are very fortunate to live in a place with amazing sports infrastructure that no other place really have, let's enjoy what we have and bask in the glory of the upcoming sport goodness coming to USA
