So... NOC's can get individual quota through mixed tournament in the continental games HOWEVER that doesn't necessarily means that they will participate in the mixed tournament during the olympics?

@heywoodu PC Games? Remember all the mixed events added to Tokyo 2020. By now every Olympics is a PC Event (when do men start doing synchornized swimming btw??)

Well i did enjoy the Olympics, just like every time. I did have multiple issues 1) Scheduling sucked, i know the blame from you goes to NBC but i dont believe it, hours and hours between events it just bad scheduling 2) The winds were just horrible, the Ski Jupming normal hill final was just horrible, all the Alpine Skiing rescheduling which i think really hurt Shiffrin's chances in slalom. The best for USA: 1) Chris Mazdzer 2) Women's Hockey 3) Cross Country Team 4) Men's Curling 5) Shaun White, Chloe Kim, Red Gerrard 6) Shiffrin's 2 medals Dissapointments - I would put shiffrin here as well, the slalom 4th place is very disappointing, besides i was hopeful for a downhill apperance, however i really put it on the winds and all the rescheduling - All Skating: Speed Skating is again very bad, just one bronze medal. Short Track one lucky silver medal, figure skating 2 bronze, and no medals for Nathan Chen - Elena Myers Taylor won silver, but i really hoped for a gold there Overall i hoped for about 10 golds and 20 total, but in reality it's way less then the 28 total of sochi and 37 of vancouver (even though we had 9 golds every time)

We can summarize the Olympics by now 9 Gold. 23 Total (well unless Diggins does something) and while there were many amazing surprises like Cross Country, womens Hockey or curling Golds, also some dissapointments come to mind. Another Skating Failure. Shiffrin in Slalom is another. No Cross medals, no golds in ski slopestyle, no medals in moguls or aerials. Overall because of diggins, shuster or womens Hockey i cannot say im overall dissapointed. But i was hoping for a better medal count.

And another failed skating olympics for USA. Short track silver and long track Bronze

What was up with Team Europe and Team North America?? that was so stupid, i get the idea behind it, but at least bring more teams in!

I think many players would've agreed to it for this year, i remember Ovechkin saying he is planning to play anyway, it's about country pride, and i'm sorry, the 8 team World Cup of Hockey is not an alternative!

The problem is that for basketball in the summer is fun with nba players but you don't have to stop the league (Like you would have for baseball) and it is not the main attraction. And if that will stop, i dont believe the damage will be severe. Winter however was more dependant on NHL since its really the only main stream team sport. So the IOC had to pay up. However i dont know how from here we go back to NHL participating. My feeling is that Beijing will also not have NHL players. Maybe next North American winter games if calgary gets 2026 or USA 2030

possibly, but you never know what will happen in 4 years, and it's dissapointing looking at totals from 2014, and 2010 and seeing such a big discrepancy, even if it's halfway through, we will not be anywhere close to it

Until now i will classify this olympics as kind of dissapointing for us, 5 medals, 10 gold, shiffrin no slalom medal, no gold in ski slopestyle, no medal for nathan chan, and again speed skating no medal, off course things can change a little bit, i was thinking 10 gold 20 total, but dont think it will happen (even then it will be way less then the 28 total of sochi, and 37 of vancouver) i guess it's compensated with very good summer games again
