  1. Nobody follows niche sports like rowing or canoeing here except the Olympics where we can suddenly win some medals. Someone like Karolina Naja has 4 Olympic medals and nobody would recognize her on the street in Poland
  2. It's kinda medium compared to some of the previous years. Nobody wants to really hype the volleyball chances since we got burned at the OG so many times lately media don't even try to spin "this time it will be different" shtick. Also our athletics has bounced off the Father Time wall. Except Kaczmarek most of our athletes are basically over the hill and even hammer doesn't look like getting us a gold medal. Overall we might fail to win double digit medals for the first time since 1956 and everyone kinda expects it.
  3. Barbora Krejcikova wins the women's final 6-2 2-6 6-4 over Jasmine Paolini. Still it's a huge upset given Krejcikova's poor season and the injury troubles she had. The draw collapsed in the early rounds alas she beat the big favorite Rybakina in SF so there is that. Paolini is set to become the next Jabeur at this rate.
  4. Joe Biden just introduced Zelensky as President Putin. It's over. The rumbling old man is literally digging his own grave. Just how more hits can the Democrats take?
  5. Barbora Krejcikova beat Elena Rybakina in three sets in the second SF. A complete random GS final line-up then. Most casual Wimbledon fans probably don't even know who the finalists are
  6. Jasmine Paolini beat Donna Vekic in three sets to advance to her second GS final in a row. Paolini was down 2-5 in the decider to Madison Keys the other day and only won this match when Keys got injured but well, she's truly making the most of her season run so far.
  7. Francois Letexier has been chosen as the referee of the final. Guess Turpin missing the red card in Germany vs Scotland (only saved by VAR) was his undoing.
  8. [hide] *"Double-the-points" distributed as follow: Each user will have 3 during the Knockout stage. Each user will have to mark their matches with "Double-the-points" with an "*". Knockout Stage July 04th - July 14th, 2024 Third-Place Match Date & Time (GMT -4) Nation 1 T1 T2 Nation 2 July 13th 2024, h. 20:00 Canada 0 2 Uruguay Final Date & Time (GMT -4) Nation 1 T1 T2 Nation 2 July 14th 2024, h. 20:00 Argentina 1 2 Colombia [/hide]
  9. Colombia also has this tifosa
  10. [hide] *"Double-the-points" distributed as follow: Each user will have 3 during the Knockout stage. Each user will have to mark their matches with "Double-the-points" with an "*". 11. Football gods want Yamal to make history in the final
  12. Yeah, good luck with those subs now. Waiting for extra time that won't come...
  13. George Clooney is the latest celebrity big shot to say in public that Joe Biden is too old to run for President. The hits just keep on coming https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cy68gxw32zno
  14. At least Canada can say they're better than USA in soccer lately
  15. This will be hilarious if Jagiellonia Białystok ends up having the shortest travel possible to Lithuania Media over here thought HJK would be favored to progress.
  16. Good result for football. Spain wins 2-1!
  17. Quick implosion from France. 2-1 Spain after 25 mins. Own goal still rules.
  18. All the booing when Cucurella has the ball. You can tell most of the fans in the stands are German
  19. France leads 1-0 after 9 mins. Navas broke the offside trap in amateur fashion.
  20. Meanwhile more Democrats are piling on Biden and call him to quit the election race. The senile old fool is holding on for now. Yeah, you can only sugar coat his state for that long but that mumbling show at the the debate has blown it wide open. He looks like he's on a highway to dementia and there's no way to hide it in the social media era. The last time a sitting President was forced to step aside from the elections by his own party was probably Lyndon Johnson at the height of the Vietnam fiasco.
  21. Looks like a German lobby for home tournament. This is politics pure and simple. Soares Dias did a much better job in this tournament and he's been send home after his last match. I guess Orsato will get the final now in his last career match since Germany are still fuming over Marciniak's UCL decision. The long shot is Oliver but that would obviously require England losing in SF.
  22. Her mother is Chinese. Her father is Croatian. She was born in Switzerland and represented that country until March 2024 before switching to New Zealand (probably to have a better chance of making the Olympics). One of the rare instances when a rich Western country actually loses an athlete (don't ask @hckošiceabout Hingisova and Bencicova here ).
  23. The moment Gauff doesn't face some ITF randomer or players ranked in Top 30 she loses. I don't consider this result a major shock. Emma Navarro is on the way up and she could be Top 10 sooner than anyone thinks. Hell, nobody expected her to break into Top 20. Either way the women's bottom half QF are set: Donna Vekic vs Lulu Sun Jasmine Paolini vs Emma Navarro.
  24. Lulu Sun dumps out Emma Raducanu in three sets in R4
  25. team has been announced. Bednorz didn't make it.
