The fact Shiffrin and Holdener are scoring DH & SG podums speaks about the weak level of speed events in general. Vonn is pretty much the most athletic-looking speed speciallist but even she looked a size smaller than Brydon, Merighetti and Kamer.

Well, both Zuk & Davidova came straight from the Olympics so it's no wonder they were a class above the rest skiing-wise. Zuk will become a regular on the World Cup next season and well, she's viewed as the biggest talent in Polish biathlon EVER She became the first Polish WJC since 1973.

Somehow she didn't look tired when she won the GS? The lack of flow as you say suggests the snow is the main culprit IMO. Hirscher was 0,63 back when he went out too so there's more to the fact two biggest slalom favs struggled in their best event.

Could be the snow conditions? I mean Hirscher also hardly impressed in the slalom here.

Gasienica ("caterpillar" in English) is a very popular name in the Podhale region where almost all of our nordic/alpine skiers come from.
