Jeez, Schooling, Irie within a day or so, I suppose they didn't make qualifying times to announce retirement this short before the Olympics? :p

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

:POL Angelika Cichocka (athletics, 800/1500m) announced her retirement today at age of 36. I'm sad that she never made a final race at Olympics and not win medal at Outdoor World Championships, she was one of best runners ever who never succeed to have a medal at the biggest events, mainly because often injuries.

And it's just beginning of the wave when our best athletes will announce retirement before/after Olympics this year :(

Also :POL Zofia Noceti-Klepacka (windsurfing), silver medalist of London Olympics and multiple medalists of World Championships and European Championships announced the same decision like Angelika two days ago, though she will yet compete in few more events this year.

And not just in Poland.  :GBR Gymnastics legend Max Whitlock will retire after Paris.  Cannot tell you how unlikely a British Olympic Gold Medallist in Gymnastics seemed back in the 70s and 80s, but he got there.

:CAN Glenn Howard, one of the greatest curler in history (though some users on this forum might know him better as the brother of 2006 Olympic gold medalist :NBR Russ Howard) has announced his retirement.

Glenn is a seventeen time Ontario champion, a four time Canadian champion, a four time World champion and was the runner-up at the 2009 Olympic trials.
