I know it's not everyone's favourite discipline, but I do like the concept of the combined, finding the best all-round skier. The current format works better than it used to when they used to reverse the top 30 for the slalom run, gives the speed racers a bit more of a chance.

It's just a shame to see so few athletes racing it - the start list for the women's race was ridiculously short, not helped by 1/3 of the racers DNSing the second run. Good to see the men's start list is a bit longer. Nonetheless, the cream normally seems to rise to the top; in the last decade or so, we've had the likes of Hirscher, Ligety, Pinturault for the men and Shiffrin, Brignone, Holdener for the women winning major championships. So at least it isn't giving out farcical medals to athletes who just luck in, like in another event... (parallel).

Hoping the men's race should be good tomorrow. There's a lot of contenders - Pinturault, Strolz, Schwarz, Meillard, McGrath, Kilde, Murisier. Odermatt is on the start list but assuming he'll use it just as a training run and not start the slalom?

Odermatt & Paris skipped a gate on purpose in SG. Kilde, Kriechmayr & Crawford DNS in slalom...

Pinturault vs Schwarz for the gold with only 0,06 between them. Battle for bronze pretty open with McGrath within striking distance to upset some odds.

Strolz completely nowhere as he lost 2,48 in Super G and even finished behind one of the Szolloses
