[OFF TOPIC] Sports-related dreams

I once dreamed being a part of German football team (but did not make it to the field, just in the changing room), that is nicest one I can remember.

A few times I dreamed about being stuck in a stampede when watching various sport events...

I hadn't even associated 'corona' with beer at all until some jokes started popping up, so it worked for at least one person :p

Same here. In my whole life I only know 3 beer brands: Bintang, Heineken, and Guinness.

This is the national conference of PAN, they are having a session to elect a new chairman.

They have been the opposition since the last two elections, but the current chairman Hasan is trying abandon their stance and started to support the current government hoping for some positions. Hasan's supporter and the other candidate's supporter clashed because Hasan's supporter insisted that no voting is needed and Hasan should win by acclamation. In the end they voted and Hasan still won. The BGM is the party anthem :p

Some people created a kingdom inside Indonesia called 'Keraton Agung Sejagat' (The Great Universe Palace) and claimed to be the successor state of Majapahit. Their aim is to claim the whole planet (with 450 followers)

After the Sejagat 'king' and 'queen' imprisoned, another guy proclaimed Sunda Empire and said that UN HQ is actually leased from his kingdom (they tried to vandalize Wikipedia pages about UN).

After the second 'country' dissolved and the guy arrested, yesterday we have another one called 'Negara Rakyat Nusantara' (People's State of Nusantara) which tried to dissolve Indonesia and already have a flag:

He got arrested in less than 24 hours.

Like seriously, people are trying everything to get famous

Neither is this, in all reality. But sure, media needs their clicks :p

Yeah because fearmongering using a country with a 1.5 billion population plus the notorious tourist reputation is more logical than "some random African states" :p

With the potential consequences of climate change, it seems rather dumb to put your capital next to a river. Besides that glaring issue, it does look a lot like the layout of DC. I do love some of the things they want to do architecturally though.

Well the idea of creating the new capital near a biological reserve is already questioned by Greenpeace and co.

The winner of new Indonesian capital design to be built in Northeastern Borneo... "Futuristic and Sustainable" are the design theme. Some supporters of this design already dubbed it as the "D.C. of Borneo"

I hate that I’m absolutely in love with this party propaganda song from :VIE. I’m going say it’s okay for me to like the music, but I still don’t like that I like it. It’s name literally translates to “People and Fighters Unite”

I really wonder how can a simple melody harm someone

Why do people always quote entire posts with several photos and/or videos meaning said photos and videos are posted 2-3-4 times and you have to scroll your wrist to hell just to go down the page?

Because removing those parts of the quoted post in mobile is such a pain. Sorry about that

i've a strange nostalgia to this moment of sochi 2014 WOG closing ceremony , i watched this video maybe 100 times last week or something :d and also the one from 1980 SOG , one of the most emotional closing ceremonies in history of OG

Definitely. The song "Do svidanya, Moskva" is planted deep inside my heart and will always be the best Olympic song.

@Griff88 forgot about this thread . Probably should talk about your English knowledge/ability here.

Haha alright.

Firstly, thanks.

None of my parents are high school graduates but they attended basic English courses by Indian immigrants in their hometown, so they are keen to have their children to excel in other languages. Since I was young, I've been exposed to English from 'Magic English' (a series of VCD with Disney movies excerpts intended for toddlers). When I was 4, I got extra English lessons from two Indian teachers who opened a learning center just in front of my school. Later my aunt's boss introduced a private teacher and I spend about 5 years learning with her.

And perhaps the system in my high school also helps. We had British and Australian native speakers in class once a week, "Speak English Day", and a reading program where every week we read along a chapter of famous books (Tuesdays with Morrie and The Alchemist for example) and have big discussions. Pretty much like that. I still do not consider my English is up there though, my speaking is not so good :p

I legit stared the screen for a minute thinking why differentiating Indonesia and Morocco is such a big deal

I'm guessing this now also means the family of everyone who was (on purpose, specifically) killed by someone running over them in a car can now sue the car manufacturer? And the family of people who have been stabbed to death can now sue whichever company made the knife that's used?

Lol basically it enables more incidents like the Indonesian parent who sued a school which her child attend to pay her for damage caused (?) and also to close the school because her child failed the exam thus unable to continue for the next grade

I don’t think they’re in charge of that. I think they’re in free association with New Zealand or Australia (and I could be wrong), but what that means is that either of those countries would be responsible for they’re foreign policy.

Nope. Schengen Area countries are those who are allowed to visit Tuvalu without visa, even Australia or NZ citizens need visa to go there

More and more reports show that a ton of these children are heavily brainwashed by the ideologies in those camps, up to the point where 7-year olds are talking about how they'll slaughter the non-believers. Anyone with a normal mind can understand it's not the fault of those children, but it's also really hard to just bring them back and think a bit of psychological help (for which there already aren't a lot of resources here) will make them all fine...especially considering in the end, they'd normally end up staying with relatives who wouldn't exactly hammer out those rather dangerous thought processes.

Pretty much the same with what happened with Indonesian ex-ISIL fighters and their families. Some has returned with their own effort are accepted but excluded by the society, end up in certain regions known to be conservative and started "a new life" there. No matter what they do to be back in society, whether it is trimming beard for men or stop wearing niqab for women, no one wants to be near them. Even the children are worse, sometimes they got bullied (which I think might be setting of a new bomb).

And recently it is reported around 700 Indonesians who joined ISIL is still in Syria, hoping the government will help and fund their way back home

To be fair, decent printer ink is freaking expensive.

The problem is, it is five times from last year

Everything is five to ten times more from last year. The most expensive eraser you can buy costs just a little over USD 1, and assuming every single civil servant (total 65k) got ten eraser each, it doesn't even reach 1 million USD

Do you guys have public access to state/provincial budget?

In Jakarta's recent scandal those who peeked at the proposed provincial budget for 2020 found out super ridiculous expense that include 5 million USD for glue, 14 million USD for paper, 2.2 million USD for eraser and 28 million USD for printer ink.

:hairpull:

And now the governor is dumbfounded...
