Happy New *Olympic* Year to all !!

Hello everyone and happy 2020
 
We are into the Olympic Year, Tokyo 2020 will be the third summer Olympic Games since Totallympics' birth (March 2011). The last summer Olympic year was unfortunate for the forum because in 2016 we lost everything and we started again from scratch (for users who joined the forum later: this is the reason why you will not find posts before March 2016).
 
With the new start, Totallympics changed its skin a little bit, in the old forum we were collecting results of a huge number of sports events. And this is something I would like to start again, of course with the users' help.
 
In the past few weeks, I have been thinking about and already found some ways to speed up and make it easier the process of copy-pasting results. I am in touch with @Johne, the guy who is working on the IAAF Road to Tokyo Ranking lists. The idea is to find a tool to quickly convert pdf result files into tables we can post here on the forum (or on our results portal). He is working with the R language and has opened a GitHub project about that, so if someone has some skills he/she will be able to help as well.
 
Of course, I can't realize all this alone, so to make it possible we would need users who are willing to contribute in their free time, without being paid but just for their passion for sports. The more we are, the most events we can provide results for, and the ideal thing would be each user to contribute in his/her favorite sport(s) so that most of the sports will be covered.
 
Basically the main idea would be to start from our Calendar, where we have all the international sports events listed, and provide links to results, which could be either to our results portal or, to speed up the process, to external results websites. The same could be applied for the schedule of each event before the event start.
 
I will use this thread to keep you updated about our progresses and of course if anyone has any idea feel free to share it here. This is a long term project and it goes beyond Tokyo 2020, but it would be nice to start working during the Olympic year.

I ran 30km to close out the year with my running club last sunday. Great end of year tradition!
 
I was surprised at how well it went after not training as much as I'm used to the past few months.

Here it is. It was quite a challenge but I managed to find some obscure and interesting titles, shaping up to be an unusual list. As it usually goes for me. Really glad about certain discoveries.

Well, just registered for my second half marathon: 4 April in my hometown of Nunspeet. Meaning the one in Amersfoort, which I'll once again run together with @brunamoura on 14 June, is going to be my third instead of second one.

I can understand your feeling, I know that´s your favorite team. In other side I am happy for my Czech brothers and also for the small Slovak participation in the final, since 3 our guys (Gernát, Dravecký and Marcinko) plays for Třinec + in the Canadian team Kris Versteeg plays in our extraliga for Nitra, so at least some small SVK connections in the final of this prestigious tournament
 
But I agree, this was not one of the best Spengler Cups of history. Ufa sending literally their B team, TPS Turku is in the bottom of the Liiga this season, kinda disappointing cast this year. And yes the Canadian team is by far the strongest team here.

Yep, RUS win in OT/PSO and CAN win in Regulation Time is now the only way you´ll have to play the relegation round. Hopefully it won´t happen, this czech team is showing some heart and deserve to play for medals.
 
I agree, I can not believe our luck actually this year, this joke team had but you know, the groups are depending on the previous year results and since many surprises happened last year with CAN and SWE losing their QF to SUI and FIN. so this totally unbalanced this years groups and thanks all heavens it somehow helped us the most

Tour de Ski was something great and fun to watch during the first editions, it was something new and fans loved it. I´ll never forget the Lukáš Bauer era, I was excited about this months before it started.
 
Now it´s just one crap. I definitely lost any interest 2 seasons back and this year with the newest idea of a mass start final climb I am not going to watch it as well (not interested anymore). Wish FIS will remove this farce from the calendar soon.
