  1. IOC hasn’t approved any of those events yet.
  2. Yes, and no. It’s not a well watched/followed sport. But it has been incredibly incredibly popular at the World Games, World Beach Games, and Youth Olympics Games. I think all beach sports should remain in the World Beach Games (including Beach Volleyball), and we could have those every two years between the Olympics to wet the appetite of international sports fans.
  3. I should clarify that the federations are suggesting those sports, not the IOC. The IOC will vote on approval in December.
  4. Beach Handball, Coastal Rowing, and Parkour are among the events put forward for inclusion in 2024. Final decision on the Paris 2024 program will probably be made in December. This is all according to reporting from Inside the Games.
  5. Warren drops out Now, it’s down to two old white guys that no one really feels all that enthusiastic about. I believe they’re both older than Trump, and the front runner has voted against more “Democratic” proposals than the guy who isn’t. It’s so embarrassing. A party who praises itself for forward thinking, diversity, and progression comes up with two old white dudes, and no matter which one wins, a good portion of the party will feel alienated. If I’m on Trump’s Team, I’m really starting to like my odds in November. I think we’ll push Biden or Bernie across, but all the enthusiasm has evaporated from this race in the last week.
  6. Great, sounds like the government won’t test uninsured Americans (probably somewhere around 20-30% of Americans). Hello, epidemic
  7. Tomas Ajan has resigned as IWF President
  8. TWU #9: https://anchor.fm/twu/episodes/TWU-9-I-mean--how-much-could-we-possibly-talk-about-eb8rbr
  9. Since Paris 2024 is the 100 year anniversary of those games, I think it should last 3 months as well
  10. Which they’re within their power to do. They undertook similar actions in 2012 and 2016 to ensure the participation of women.
  11. I also think it’s a right for every nation to be able to send 1 man and 1 woman conversely.
  12. I do. Both 1900 and 1904 were held in conjunction with, and largely overshadowed by, the World’s Fair. Did you know the 1904 Summer Olympics technically lasted multiple months?
  13. I’m inclined to agree with most of sentiment here (I know, shocking). I especially like @hckosice @heywoodu positions on this. The 2020 Winter YOG was the best “yet”, and their were signs of real interest, and an event people can get behind. The lack of streaming is absolutely the biggest negative for the YOGs still. I am glad we’re moving towards more athletes, and no Mixed NOC events as well. I high hopes for the next few YOGs. Every nation should have at least 1 man, 1 woman. Period. There’s not excuse not too. This Parade of Nations business is getting silly. I think nations should make an effort to make sure men and women are equally represented, but forcing nations to artificially do it won’t change the attitudes towards women’s sport we’re looking to eliminate.
  14. Some highlights from the IOC EB meeting: - Lausanne 2020 was the most watched and followed Winter YOG to date. Severe rise in popularity. - IOC aim to have the Olympics be “carbon positive” by 2030 (meaning that they go further than being carbon neutral) - All NOCs must work towards having at least 1 man and 1 woman at the Summer Olympics starting with Tokyo 2020 - Parade of Nations guidelines will be change to recommend each NOC have a pair of the flagbearers (one male, one female)
  15. Somehow Bloomberg won that one
  16. Well, if either Biden or Sanders don’t end up with enough votes to win, Warren can make the “great unitor” play at the convention. I don’t think it would work, but her base is passionately anti-Biden as well.
  17. Did you know that Hot Air Ballooning was held as a sport at the 1900 Summer Olympics?
  18. Also, if you really want to see the “West v. South” or the “West Coast v. East Coast” liberals divide, look at the states Sanders has won. He’s won every single election on the West Coast, and still came close to Biden in Texas. California is still arguably one of the most progressive states in the Union (thankfully), but it’s sad to see the direction the rest of the country has gone in.
  19. Because Sanders victory is making me feel very patriotic (towards California), here’s our state anthem, which is actually not that well known, but much better than our national anthem:
  20. Me too #ShieldBros
  21. Sometimes you really have to love what football can do:
  22. To be fair, we’ve already implemented many of the progressive changes we went to see nationally in California. For instance, we already have a medicare-for-all program called “Covered California” the problem is that it’s not free.
  23. California has 400+ delegates. Only 144 are decided by the popular vote. The Democratic primary is anything but. Hence, why I no longer want to endorse them.
  24. FDR is the Democratic standard though, and Bernie is similar to him in many ways. But yes, Obama carried Biden to victory. Biden is voted against the democrats quite often, but sure Sanders is the odd man out. It’s whatever the party never changes. Today was the last ever election I vote as a Democrat. I will support individual candidates from different parties, but from here on out, I’m a officially a green voter. I actually want to investigate making a state senate run in 22 for them, if I’ll be eligible.
