Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games 2018 News
phelps replied to vinipereira's topic in Winter Olympic Games Pyeongchang 2018
don't worry...South Koreans are only going to buy some tickets for those events where they are supposed to win medals... they won't spend a cent on events where's no strong participation of their athletes... and with the political situation going on up North of the border, I guess that very few "Western" people are going to fly to Pyeongchang... so, I guess that, if the Olympics will really go on stage in february in South Korea (and I'm not sure we can take it for granted right now), we will see many events contested in front of just the athletes' relatives (or maybe not even them)... -
the -90kg place was awarded tu Mashu Baker, but he had problems with one of his shoulders and couldn't fly to Budapest, so the Japanese federation chose to save Kenta Nagasawa only for the Team Event on Sunday (where they will have a completely different roster from the individual competitions)... in the women's -63kg it was their first decision after their National selections...they only selected 1 girl for the Team Event (Aimi Nouchi) and nobody for the Individual competition, which is quite strange for them (but probably no girls matched their very strict criteria to make the main team)...
-
naaaa...you're not biased... it's Tishchenko that's overprotected and he's robbing titles here and there in the last 3/4 years... I've never seen such a modest fighter being carried on by the corrupted AIBA official for so long (generally they gift those kind of people 1, max 2 medals in major events, but he's going on since 2013 World Champs...this is not normal even for AIBA)...
-
Italian press has given it for official... p.s. if we wait for confirmation by the Russians about things like this, we can get very, very old (and still waiting)...

in general, I have to agree...but, to be honest, at least for Rink Hockey the FIRS website is giving the events a good coverage...we also have a live scoring (which is quite new for them)... here you can find all schedules and results: http://www.rollersports.org/discipline/rink-hockey/news/item/1251-rink-hockey-schedule-results-and-live-score-of-every-match by the way, the women's Rink Hockey World Championship has come through the quarterfinals (playing today): Argentina - USA 10-0 Chile - France 3-0 Germany - Italy 3-0 Spain - Portugal 4-1 Men's U-20 Rink Hockey also is at the quarterfinal stage (also today): Spain - England 9-0 Italy - Colombia 5-0 Argentina - Chile 4-1 France - Portugal 4-7 they also say that the women's medal games and all the senior men's games will have a live streaming coverage... here some news and results also about Inline Hockey: http://www.rollersports.org/discipline/inline-hockey/news/item/1257-wrg2017-inline-hockey-goals-emotions-and-surprising-results

Summer Olympic Games 2020 Qualification Systems
phelps replied to Mkbw50's topic in Summer Olympic Games Tokyo 2020
the number of boats in each class have been reported by the Italian most reliable and accurate sport website... https://www.oasport.it/2017/08/vela-definite-le-quote-di-partecipazione-per-tokyo2020/ other infos have been reported on ISAF press release after last year's annual meeting (now I can't find the right one, but the final sentence in my previous post was just a copy & paste from there) in shooting, Tokyo 2020 program (with all the new competition and their format) has been approved last June... qualifying criteria have not been released yet... that's the most updated news I could find: http://www.issf-sports.org/news.ashx?newsid=2848 http://www.issf-sports.org/news.ashx?newsid=2861 -
I wrote..."so far", since I'm not following this evening's session...
-
I know...it's a cruel, cruel world... however, so far all Kazakhas, all Uzbeks but 1 and all the US fighters (the real news of the year...USA are back on top of AIBA politics after many years of disgrace) today won their bouts...what a surprise! p.s. Tischchenko did it again...this time the victim is David Niyka from NZL...
-
Lipnitskaya apparently has serious problems with anorexia... so, the situation is a lot more scaring than just having stopped her skating career... I hope she can recover and get well again, sooner or later (possibly as soon as possible)...

please, let's get rid of this farce!!! I saw almost any sort of crazy judgments in boxing, but I never saw anything like today... Mangiacapre (ITA) won his fight against Zhussupov (KAZ) literally destroying him (the fight was stopped by the event doctor because the Kazakh was bleeding so heavily that almost collapsed on the ring...so, technically it was a pure and simple TKO)... but then Kazakhstan made an appeal and the technical commission overturned the final result, stating that the score was to be determined by the reading of the judges' cards at the moment of the stop (like the stop came because of an accidental injury of one of the contenders)...and guess what? for the judges the Zhussupov was 2 points ahead and so he was declared as the winner... so, the new rule is that you can't win against protected boxers even if you knock them out... if somehow there's some justice in the world, I hope that Zhussupov at least won't be able to get his feet on the ring for the next round... p.s. of course that was the highlight of the tournament so far, but surely not the only episode of corrupted judging and shameful scores... nothing has changed in the last months, despite all the "beautiful words" by AIBA officials... and I think that nothing's gonna change in the future... so...once again...let's get rid of this farce!!!
-
very awful refereeing so far... distribution of shido very "political"... Milani (ITA) robbed big time by the ref in the regulation time (she scored at least twice on counters) and definitively killed in GS with an unexisting shido against Galbadrakh (Mongolian bought by Kazakhstan)... and Manzi's bout against the Hungarian Szabo was just surreal...the Hungarian just ran away for the whole bout and he only got the 3rd shido more than 4 minutes into the GS (and it was given by the table jury, the ref tried not to sanction him also that time)...
-
undeserved Olympic Champion Adelina Sotnikova (RUS) out for the season, she won't defend her title in Pyeongchang (she wouldn't have any chance in any case )... http://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/2017/08/28/olympic-skate-champ-sotnikova-out-injured

in the men's -66kg, provided no surprise happens earlier (= Basile losing to Yacoub, PLE in his first match), we have the Olympic Final revenge (Basile vs An Baul, KOR) already in the round of 32... and also our other Olympic medallist, Odette Giuffrida (who won silver in Rio in the women's -52kg), will have to face (always unless something unpredictable happens earlier) Kelmendi, KOS in another Olympic Final revenge match already in the round of 16... let's say that Italy didn't have the luckiest of the draws...
