  1. Not only he's out of the Rio Games, but his entire career could suffer a lot after a similar injury...in fact, he has a 50% detachment of the deltoid ligament in his left ankle (the jumping one)...
  2. Men's Rink (Roller) Hockey European Championships 2016 Italy-Portugal is the Final of the European Championship in Oliveira de Azemeis The defending champion won 1-0 the semifinal against Spain while the host team defeated Switzerland 8-0. The Pavilhao Dr Salvador Machado was crowded for the last two semifinals of the day: an exciting and balanced match between Italy and Spain, won 1-0 by the defending European Champions and an easy but fought victory for Portugal against Switzerland. Italy - Spain 1-0 A quite balanced semifinal between Italy and Spain awarded the better Italian defense: Spain pushed more and more but it never was able to pass over an enormous Leonardo Barozzi. The match has been decided in the first time, when Ambrosio scored following a Spanish error: the Iberians left him on the parquet after the referee action; he stood up and received Verona's assist to beat Grau. At the end of the first time, Spain was close to the goal when Selva hit the goalpost. Back to the rink, it was very hard for Italy: Bancells hit the barrier at the first minute and a goalpost at the second; Rodriguez missed a penalty. Italy needed 5 minutes to recover and at 7' had the chance to double, but Ambrosio took the barrer on the direct free hit. At 9' penalty for Bargallo: Barozzi stopped it with his leg. The Italian goalie stopped many Spanish attacks during the last part of the second time. Tomorrow the defending champion will meet the host team. Switzerland - Portugal 0-8 Portugal confirmed the expectations and won without any problem the match against Switzerland. The last semifinal is a kind of POrtuguese soliloqui and team coached by Senica soon scored the first goal by captain Rodrigues. He doubled at 10' after the banishment of Kissling and Barreiros. Gonçalo Alves scored the third goal before the stop whistle of the first period. Back from the locker rooms, Portugal kept pn scoring, already tasting the victory: Ventura converted a penalty, Joao Rodrigues doubled again; it was then the turn of Barreiros and Alves. Switzerland tryed to contain the attacks and the last score is a copy of the qualification match: 8-0. Tomorrow Portugal will try to tear off the European title of the the defending champions and Switzerland will play against Spain for the Bronze Medal.
  4. imho, if he misses Rio 2016, it's just because something went wrong in their "preliminary internal" tests...basically, he was caught once again (but it will never become official news for the rest of the world, of course)...
  5. and Eva Risztov, who initially got the Bronze medal, later was disqualified because of a shameful (intentional) cut of the course... by the way, finally the Gold medal went ex-aequo to Rachele Bruni, ITA and Aurelie Muller, FRA, meanwhile the Bronze medal went to Arianna Bridi, ITA... in the men's event (always over 10k), Gold went to Ferry Weertman, NED, who just outsprinted Jack Burnell, GBR (Silver) and Marc Antoine Olivier, FRA (Bronze)...
  6. Olympic Basketball tournament for men full details (groups, schedule and start times of games) here: http://www.fiba.com/olympics/2016/news/serbia-croatia-and-france-complete-line-up-for-rio-2016-olympic-basketball-tournament
  7. well, actually he only made 1 foul...the other 4 were invented by mr. Boltauzer (together with the 4th by Hackett in the key moment of the game and many more whistles that cearly changed the path of the whole game)... then we can discuss about Italy's lack of offensive talent, about Gentile's shameful attitude, about Messina's building and tenure of the team and anything else, but yesterday's game were gifted to Croatia by mr. Baumann's hired killer, named Matej Boltauzer...
  8. in the meantime, yesterday Sarah Sjostrom swam 55.96 in the women's 100m Fly at the Swedish Nationals...
  9. The Korean Tae Hwan Park will be in Rio, after all... http://totallympics.com/index.php?/topic/116-doping-cases-and-bans-in-2016/&do=findComment&comment=29392
  10. Tae Hwan Park ban overturned by CAS - He'll swim in Rio https://www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/news/park-tae-hwans-additional-doping-ban-overturned-rio-bound/
  11. directly from the FIE official document about qualification: REALLOCATION OF UNUSED QUALIFICATION PLACES (...) - If the fencer qualified through the zone qualifying event, the quota place will be reallocated to the next best ranked fencer in the same weapon, at the same zone qualifying event. so, the winner is: Olga A. Leleyko however: "The FIE will confirm the team quota places and the names of the fencers who qualified through the FIE Ranking Lists and the zone qualifying events to the NOCs/NFs on 9 May 2016. NOCs must confirm to the FIE by latest midnight (GMT+1) on 6 June 2016, the use of team quota places and the participation of each fencer qualified by name. From 12 June 2016, the FIE will reallocate the quota places which have not been confirmed by the NOCs." and as of today, July 7th the starting list for the women's individual Foil on the FIE Olympic website still reports Hatuel's name (even if they clearly say that this list is still a provisional one...but, at the same time, we are now already a good month beyond the confirmation date)... http://rio2016.fie.org/ranks?weapon=F&gender=F&event=I so, I'm not so sure that at the end ISR NOC decline her quota place...
  12. earlier today Sarah Sjostrom swam the best time of the year over the women's 200m Freestyle at the Swedish Nationals: 1:54.34... in the same race Michelle Coleman clocked 1:56.12, slightly slower than 10 days ago in Rome...
  13. actually it was in the quarterfinals, not in the semis (which will be contested tomorrow)...
  14. and by the way, Amnat Ruenroeng* (THA) and Carmine Tommasone (ITA), the 2 only real "PRO" who have been outside the AIBA system untl now, will meet tomorrow in the Lightweights' Semifinal... basically, this will be the only match with a bit of non-AIBA flavour not only of the entire tournament, but of the entire history of the AIBA connection with the world of real PROs... a great success for the world governing body, I guess... *by far the most successful boxer starting in this farce...he even fought 5 times for the IBF Flyweights World Title between 2014 and 2015 (beating former AIBA stars like McWilliams Arroyo, PUR and, above all, Zhou Shiming, CHN, one of the most overrated Olympic Champions - actually, double Olympic Champion - ever)...

  17. Cate Campbell stole the show, but she's not the only Aussie in good shape 35 days before the start of the Games... here some other news from Downunder... http://www.swimvortex.com/james-magnussen-gathers-momentum-in-time-for-4x100-aussie-rio-relay-tilt/ http://www.swimvortex.com/cate-campbell-drops-a-52-06-bomb-for-100m-world-record-faster-than-mike-wenden/
  18. yes, but despite their good records as a pro (Tommasone is unbeaten), they are nothing special... but still, I'm very curious to see what they can do in the AIBA context... here you can find some infos about them (just fill the form with their names): http://boxrec.com/people
  19. Pulyaev, Iartsev and Valkova for sure, as they were involved in the Meldonium chaos (and therefore to me they are playing dirty at 100%)... all the other guys , instead, are not guilty until the contrary is proven... but you know..."not guilty" doesn't necessarily mean "innocent"...
  20. team Italy for the Olympic Games Women's Foil Elisa Di Francisca, Arianna Errigo Men's Foil Giorgio Avola, Andrea Cassarà, Daniele Garozzo Team Event only: Andrea Baldini Women's Epee Rossella Fiamingo Men's Epee Marco Fichera, Enrico Garozzo, Paolo Pizzo Team Event only: Andrea Santarelli Women's Sabre Rossella Gregorio, Loreta Gulotta, Irene Vecchi Team Event only: Ilaria Bianco Men's Sabre Aldo Montano, Diego Occhiuzzi
  21. and he also had a 89-meter+ throw and the remaining 3 were all around or above 85m...very very impressive... not only, the second German, Julian Weber, improved himself up to well beyond 86 meters... Germany is definitely going to be the main force at the Games in this discipline...
  22. I hope so... but we all know that they are like Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde when it comes down to the Olympic Games and that they don't care that much about the remaining competitions... so, I don't think that last year's results have any consequence on their minds...unfortunately... however, based on yesterday's results, I guess that in Rio they will swim at least 4 or 5 seconds faster than in Kazan, putting them well outside the reach of any other team...
  23. Thomas Rohler!!! just a few minutes ago in Turku he had 2 throws beyond 91 meters!!! of course I'm writing about men's Javelin...
