  1. Men's Individual Epee Final Results: Gold: Yannick Borel (FRA) Silver: Nikolai Novosjolov (EST) Bronze: Bogdan Nikishin (UKR) & Richard Schmidt (GER) Semifinals: Novosjolov b. Nikishin 10-9 Borel b. Schmidt 15-10 Gold Medal Match: Borel b. Novosjolov 15-14 Here is the Full Final Ranking (and Results) from Today's competition: http://fie.org/competitions/2018/739/results/rank
  2. Sauer (GER), Kreiss (HUN), Synoradzka (POL) and (currently) "her majesty, the queen of foil" Inna Deriglazova (RUS) are the last 4 girls qualified to the quarterfinals of the women's individual Foil... pairings are Volpi vs Kreiss, Errigo vs Sauer, Synoradzka vs Martyanova and Deriglazova vs Guyart in the semis, we'll have the winner of Synoradzka vs Martyanova against the winner of Deriglazova vs Guyart and the winner of Volpi vs Kreiss against the winner of Errigo vs Sauer... p.s. by the way, Deriglazova didn't look that brilliant so far...she's been lucky she hasn't faced a really tough opponent until now... but I'm sure that she'll change gear in the following rounds...
  3. meanwhile Yannick Borel (FRA), Nikolai Novosjolov (EST), Richard Schmidt (GER) and Bogdan Nikishin (UKR) are the 4 guys qualified to the semifinals of the men's individual Epee (and therefore they are also the medallists in this competition)... I don't remember right now who's gonna face who in the semifinals...but I'm sure that Novosjolov and Borel are at the extreme opposite of the table draw (so they won't face themselves in the semis)...
  4. Volpi, Errigo (both ITA), Martyanova (RUS) and Guyart (FRA) are the first 4 fencers qualified to the quarterfinals of the women's individual Foil...
  5. day 1 ends with the surprising Gold medal won by HKG in the men's Foil... disappointing day for Japan more than anything...
  6. no, if they don't fix the problems with the live scoring website...
  7. and the streaming has gone crazy... now with the girls...and no names on some pistes and a completely wrong "table of 8" in others...
  8. well, that was expected after the shameful results in the last world cup stages... there's not enough talent in that team...and we can't rely only on Pizzo (who's not a youngster anymore and he's so injury prone)... p.s. is it just me or the live scoring system is KO once again?
  9. naaa...I watched the episode and Tulen clearly hit the ground after a corp-a-corp and not Borel... the refs watched the video for quite a while and I think that in the end they got it right... pity for Tulen, who had a great comeback, but imho there was no "robbery"... p.s. and Borel must be inspired in this kind of bouts, today...also in the following round, in fact, he won in the OT against Santarelli, after the Italian came back from 1-7 to 14-14...
  10. Men's Individual Foil Final Results: Gold: Cheung Siu Lun (HKG) Silver: Heo Jun (KOR) Bronze: Huang Mengkai (CHN) & Ha Tae Gyu (KOR) Semifinals: Heo b. Huang 15-10 Cheung b. Guo 15-12 Di Tella b. Rodriguez Quesada 15-10 Gold Medal Match: Hurley b. Di Tella 15-14 Here is the Full Final Ranking (and Results) from Yesterday's competition: http://fie.org/competitions/2018/797/results/rank
  15. p.s. however, as you might remember, earlier after the Hockey Worlds I announced my retirement from prediction contest (and I'm not gonna change my mind)...
  16. in Italian, we use the word "cappotto", which literally means "coat"...
  17. in the women's Sabre, Velikaya was absolutely unstoppable...a full lap ahead of the rest of the field... in the men's Foil, Garozzo threw the title away...you just can't lose a bout from 14-11 up when you're the Olympic champion (even if the refs make a clear mistake on the forelast hit)... however, congrats to Cheremisinov (2nd individual European Gold for him), who killed the Italians on his way to success... and we already have a Russian double in day #1...
  18. it looks like a good day for our foil guys, but once again it's a disaster for our sabre girls... individually, they just can't get a decent result...that's scary (and annoying)...
  19. Women's Individual Sabre Final Results: Gold: Sofya Velikaya (RUS) Silver: Cecilia Berder (FRA) Bronze: Marta Puda (POL) & Svetlana Sheveleva (RUS) Semifinals: Velikaya b. Puda 15-6 Berder b. Sheveleva 15-9 Gold Medal Match: Velikaya b. Berder 15-10 Here is the Full Final Ranking (and Results) from Today's competition: https://www.fencingtimelive.com/events/results/E096EDA404CD493B9DD20ACAF00CB949
