Kim Jun Ho 15-12 Gold Medal Match: Gu b. Kim Jung Hwan 15-12 Here is the Full Final Ranking (and Results) from Today's competition: http://fie.org/competitions/2018/1015/results/rank
  2. WTF...that's an absolute farce... hope someone would sue FIBA for this sh*t...
  3. 2018 world champs and Japan are not directly qualified, I guess... at least, the .pdf file seems to suggest that... http://www.fiba.basketball/womens-calendar-timeline for what I understand from it, almost all the teams from the continental champs will go through to the regional OQT, which will determine the 16 teams that will play for the 12 Olympic spots (Europe will not play the regional OQT, but will send directly to the world OQT the top 6 of Eurobasket 2019)... p.s. remember that we're talking of Women's Basketball only...
  4. on the other side, congrats to Hartung (it was time for him to get back to success) and, above all, to the amazing Estonian girls, who made history earlier today...
  5. sadness and disgust... this what I feel right now if I think about these European Champs for what concerns Italy... shame! shame! shame!
  6. Curatoli is still in play, but the other Italians are out also in the men's sabre... definitely, these Europeans so far are very disappointing for us... by the way, the quarterfinals in the men's sabre are: Hartung (GER) vs Szilagy (HUN), S. Bazadze (GEO) vs Curatoli (ITA) in the top half of the draw and Ibragimov (RUS) vs Statsenko (UKR), Seitz (FRA) vs Danilenko (RUS) in the bottom half...
  7. it looks we have a problem with women's foil...all scoring systems have stopped working in the early rounds of that competition... who knows when we'll know how it went? well, this time it wasn't a very long wait... all fixed now...
  8. nice...hope you enjoy that...
  9. and as expected, another tragic day for the Italian epee specialists...after the boys, also the girls had an awful day, with no one of them being able to go beyond the round of 16 (and I only forgive Fiamingo for that, since she at least first won the Olympic final re-match against Szasz, but after that, she lost to Popescu, not the weakest fencer at the start today)... p.s. 3 Estonian girls in the semis... now let's see how the sabre guys go...but the start is not promising (Berrè and Curatoli are set to face each other in the early rounds and Montano already lost to Deary, GBR in round #1...and finally, Samele will face Hartung, GER -no.1 of the table draw- in the round of 16)...
  10. Men's Individual Sabre Final Results: Gold: Max Hartung (GER) Silver: Kamil Ibragimov (RUS) Bronze: Dmitriy Danilenko (RUS) & Sandro Bazadze (GEO) Semifinals: Hartung b. Bazadze 15-14 Ibragimov b. Danilenko 15-9 Gold Medal Match: Hartung b. Ibragimov 15-12 Here is the Full Final Ranking (and Results) from Today's competition: https://www.fencingtimelive.com/events/results/6CDCDFCF626A483EB28F4C35DDF6FA4E
  11. Women's Individual Epee Final Results: Gold: Katrina Lehis (EST) Silver: Kristina Kuusk (EST) Bronze: Julia Beljajeva (EST) & Violetta Kolobova (RUS) Semifinals: Kuusk b. Beljajeva 15-7 Lehis b. Kolobova 14-13 Gold Medal Match: Lehis b. Kuusk 15-14 Here is the Full Final Ranking (and Results) from Today's competition: http://fie.org/competitions/2018/738/results/rank
  12. he can't even wash the shoes of super-Mario...
  13. c'mon, man! the re-match of the Olympic final (between Szasz, HUN and Fiamingo, ITA...2 of the most decorated epee specialists of the last 10 years) in the round of 32... and Fiamingo (who won this time, after trying to waste a 14-12 lead) now has to face the former no.1 in the world, Ana Maria Popescu (Branza) from Romania in the next round... p.s. not that she's ever been the slim kind of girl, but nowadays Szasz looks really overweight...she doesn't look a professional athlete at all... only her immense class allows her to compete at this level...
  14. Women's Individual Foil Final Results: Gold: Komaki Kikuchi (JPN) Silver: Jeon Hee Sook (KOR) Bronze: Fu Yiting (CHN) & Nam Hyun Hee (KOR) Semifinals: Kikuchi b.
  20. watching this Swiss team and realizing that they're playing this tournament meanwhile Italy are back home in front of their TV screens, is depressing as hell... I have a mixed feeling of sadness and disgust that's really difficult to explain... p.s. not that watching France, Argentina and Germany made me think that we don't deserve to be among the participants of this world cup... p.p.s. and the kiss of death strikes again... Switzerland has just tied the game...
  21. This was obvious... now we have to accept the fact that Deriglazova at the moment is the the clear number #1 in this discipline, the new queen of foil... we don't have anymore the talent (and not even the depth) we used to have... we have to enjoy each and every medal (silver and bronze, too) like a great result, as it is (and it's always been) in the other weapons... women's foil is no longer our Gold medals factory...and sooner we understand that, earlier we would have the chance to restart from the beginning and maybe get back where we were...but it will take a lot of time (and for sure it won't happen with the current generations)... in this frame, I still hope in 1 or 2 "lucky single shots" (possibly at the Olympics) by Errigo and/or Di Francisca (if she can get back to her best shape, sooner or later)...
  22. Errigo & Volpi easily through to the semis... I hope Synoradzka can avoid the usual ITA vs RUS share of medals...
  23. well, in Fencing there's always a chance for teenagers to shine among the senior ranks, since tactics and technique are predominant on the simple physical strenght... she's very promising...but she's not the first girl of that age to win international senior medals...
  24. the live scoring website is back...so, I've fixed all the news about today's events (see posts above)...
  25. Women's Individual Foil Final Results: Gold: Inna Deriglazova (RUS) Silver: Arianna Errigo (ITA) Bronze: Alice Volpi (ITA) & Martyna Synoradzka (POL) Semifinals: Deriglazova b. Synoradzka 10-4 Errigo b. Volpi 15-8 Gold Medal Match: Deriglazova b. Errigo 15-9 Here is the Full Final Ranking (and Results) from Today's competition: http://fie.org/competitions/2018/740/results/rank
