  1. she's one of them, but potentially there are a lot more of those average pool swimmers in the long distances that could make the same move...in many Countries... p.s. Gabbrielleschi is one of those...she's only at her second year outside the lanes...and today she was better than Vermeulen... p.p.s. in any case, I think Van Rouwendaal's worst enemy in Tokyo (and in Korea) will be the water temperature...it will be extremely high, I fear (and SVR could have some troubles because of that...at least, more than some of her main rivals, especially the Italian and Brazilian girls, who normally love the hot water)...
  2. Panziera is not an average girl...she was expected to this kind of level for years...but she has been underperforming for quite a while for personal reasons... p.s. for you is it more surprising a technically perfect swim like Panziera's bringing her to world excellence than the so funny and almost illegal swim by Burian getting so close to the Italian? c'mon! the only "amazing" and surprising clocking by an Italian this week is Codia's 50.6...but still, sometimes it happens that you have a perfect race once in your life and get what you never expected before the race (and however, he had a PB of 51.0 and did make the final at the world and european champs -winning medals at the short course europeans, too- already earlier in his career...so, it's not that he improved more than 20 seconds in a year -any referral to Wellbroeck is not unintentional)... p.p.s. of course 2 or 3 Italians having the meet of their life is a farce... meanwhile teenagers like Milak, Kolesnikov, Chupkov, Chalmers or Freya Anderson coming out of nowhere -not necessarily this year, of course- and almost breaking world records or people like the Americans or Hosszu -not this time for obvious reasons, of course- winning multiple olympic gold medals in the most different disciplines is absolutely normal... or watching people swimming a sprint race with 2 secs advantage on the rest of the field is also absolutely beyond any suspicion... c'mon, man! calm down and let your frustration out of your door...shouting at the bad Italians is not gonna make you live better...
  3. with all those Russians, Hungarians and Britons also on the podium is not so difficult...
  4. with Codia swimming this morning's heats in the relay, he would have not won the individual race...that's sure...better like it's gone... p.s. however, we could have used Restivo in the backstroke leg and Burdisso in the fly leg...in that case, we surely would have qualified for the final...and then, who knows? p.p.s. in any case, nobody seems really caring about that fail, after the unexpected rain of gold medals we enjoyed earlier this afternoon...
  5. sure, but there are athletes who can cope with that a lot better than average and others that are more penalized by that (Bruni, for instance, is one of those, since she's a lot lighter than her main rivals -and normally the heavier you are, the more you get some help by the full bodysuit used in cold water conditions)... for what concerns the Tokyo race, at the moment Van Rouwendaal is the main favourite, no doubt about that...but we still have a couple of years to go, so there's always the option to find a newcomer to open water swimming that could upset her... we can only wait and see...
  6. Aru has no talent (he was only lucky -and very suspicious- in his only good run at the Giro a few years ago)...if they make the mistake to count on him to win a medal, it would end up in an epic fail for us...
  7. I still think that the women would eventually find their course also very tough...for them there's no need of a Tourmalet/Mortirolo kind of climb to make a big difference... meanwhile I hope Nibali would finally have his revenge after the unlucky Rio ending of his Olympic campaign...this course seems to be really good for him...
  8. già...non dirlo a me...che sono uno dei fans più accaniti dello sport NCAA americano (che di fatto è anche una delle pochissime cose che invidio agli amici d'oltre Oceano)...
  9. so, nothing... I was just reporting the best results of the day (and Campbell's time is one of them) and some other clockings by the most famous swimmers competing in Japan this week (and Dressel is surely one of those)... there was no comparison at all between their results (I think you should know that I'm not a fan of certain events and I'm experienced -old- enough to avoid certain "impossible" comparisons... p.s. I forgot to mention also the 4.07 by Kalisz in the men's 400 IM from today's action...
  12. Taylor Ruck!!! Ledecky lost again over 200m Free (she was 3rd, beaten not only by Ruck, by also by Ikee)...even if we have to say that she swam 8.09 over the 800m Free half an hour before swimming the 200m... meanwhile, Cate Campbell swam 50.9 in the anchor leg of the Mixed Medley Relay (Caeleb Dressel swam 50.50 in the Fly leg for the USA)...
  13. Olympic Road Race courses revealed...and we're gonna have some tough, really tough races...especially the men's one... https://tokyo2020.org/en/news/notice/20180809-01.html
  14. Final Results Men's 470 Gold: Kevin Peponnet/Jeremie Mion, 56 pts Silver: Tetsuya Isozaki/Akira Takayanagi, 60 pts Bronze: Jordi Xammar Hernandez/Nicolas Rodriguez Garcia-Paz, 62 pts
  15. Final Results Women's 470 Gold: Ai Kondo-Yoshida/Miho Yoshioka, 33 pts Silver: Silvia Mas Depares/Patricia Cantero Reina, 39 pts Bronze: Hannah Mills/Eilidh McIntyre, 41 pts
  16. Laser, Laser Radial and 49er FX standings are official now (and therefore also the Olympic Quota list)...
  17. Final Results Finn Gold: Zsombor Berecz, 70 pts Silver: Max Salminen, 74 pts Bronze: Pieter-Jan Postma, 76 pts
  18. we need a perfect outing by our pitchers...that's always the key... but I fear we played our jiker with yesterday's game, already... in any case, this is our first QTF appearance in 12 years, so this tournament is a success for us even if we lose against MEX...
  19. great finish of the men's race... Rasovsky attempted more than once to suicide himself with a strange trajectory...finally he was able to do it on the finish line... really modest performance by the Italians...
  20. that's OK, since the 10th and last fleet race has been completed... I only wrote to @Gianlu33 to wait for a while to post the Olympic quota, because the final result of the last race is not official yet, there could be an appeal that we don't know about it...I just want to make things official when they actually are official...
  21. however, if this result is confirmed, the gold medal will be an affair between Kontides and Wearn only, with Meech, Hanson and Buhl fighting for bronze... p.s. good 7th race by Camboni in the men's RS:X (he's second behind Van Rijsselberge in the overall ranking), meanwhile we're putting even the Olympic spot at serious risk among the girls in the same class...
  22. you have to wait for the confirmation on the official website...we don't know if there is any appeal still to be discussed... that's only the result at the finish line of the 10th race... patience...you need more patience...
  23. results are not official yet...on the official website the last race of the Gold Fleet is still missing...
  24. still too much Orange on the podium for my taste... but, being serious for a (short) while, chapeau! to Van Rouwendaal...she's really the no.1 open water swimmer in the world right now... very happy about Gabrielleschi's result, since she's still learning how to play this game (she only started last year to swim outside the pool)...she definitely couldn't do anything more than she actually did today... and decent result also by Bruni...she was still tired from yesterday (she doen't have the same body as the Dutch super-girl) and she was also really annoyed by the water temperature and the full heavy bodysuit... in Tokyo (but also at the next Worlds in Korea) we're gonna see something different for sure (but Van Rowendaal will be still on top, I fear)...
