  1. no, I think they're not... the race through the forest is so spectacular... however I don't understand why this sport is not at the Olympics yet...they already have in their program that so beloved by the IOC mixed relay that should turn Bach and his friends on more than a full store of viagra pills...
  2. they are...it would take a miracle for Italy to beat them when it really matters (unless we go shopping in the US and build a team beyond imagination for the other European contenders...but this is highly unlikely...actually, basically impossible, since our "new" policy in this sport is to play with Italian born girls only as much as possible)...
  3. rischio...ma alla fine le nostre ragazze sono ancora vive... ora ci giochiamo tutto contro le Cinesi, direi...e che la fortuna ci assista...
  4. some fresh news... William Karlsson, one of the revelation players from last season, avoid arbitration hearing and signs a 5.25 million US $, 1-year deal with Vegas... https://www.nhl.com/news/william-karlsson-signs-contract-with-vegas-golden-knights/c-299302978?tid=281072352 meanwhile, goalie John Gibson signs a 8-year contract extension (financial terms undisclosed) with the Anaheim Ducks... https://www.nhl.com/news/anaheim-signs-john-gibson-to-contract-extension/c-299674724?tid=281072352 on the gossip side, the troll duo of the Summer is once again on the covers... https://www.nhl.com/news/pk-subban-lindsey-vonn-enjoy-some-cliff-diving/c-299678622?tid=281396148 will someone able to stop them? I don't think so...
  5. but this time our 2 "flagbearers" in shooting sport finally won the gold...

  7. nice that we don't have the usual Asian sweep in a women's event...
  8. wow! Armenia was really on fire in the FS events...only the mighty Russia did better than them... p.s. @MHSN what about the Georgian freestyler Urtashvili? he destroyed every opponent he faced this week...is it because they were not so good or is he really so impressive?
  9. I've always known that...but still, there's a math formula to compare performances in the individual events and in the internal fractions of a relay... of course every day is different and "normal" athletes just can't clock the same exact time everytime they jump into the water... today the really important thing for Miressi and the whole Italian team was trying to understand how he could cope with the big pressure our media put on him...well, he responded better than the most optimistic preview and won with some margin the gold medal (and also set his new PB, which is always great in such kind of event...the fact that overall his leg in the previous days' relay was slightly better is just marginal, just a small detail to keep in mind for the future...but nothing so important for today)... by the way, the most beautiful surprises come at the end of the day...Burdisso and the men's 4*200 free relay did really make something nobody believed it was possible until a couple of hours ago... and Burdisso's young age and the fact that we were missing Detti (and in the next future also Miressi, who could become a really strong 200m free specialist...he already has a 1.43 in short course from almost a year ago) could be seen as really encouraging in perspective in both these events...
  10. Still, the race was won with 14.36 and Greg is not improving anymore since 2016... I think that all of his Australian journeys and the Open Water project are taking a lot off his 1500m skills... I hope he's gonna turn his trend around or Tokyo's podium finish could become very complicated... congrats to Wellbroeck...frankly I didn't expect him to swim 14.36... Miressi...great job, great win (I didn't expect him to manage that pressure so well)...but, tbh, I expected quite a faster time from him (46.9 in the relay's anchor leg means that he should have got at least a 47.7 in today's final)... in any case, I think it's only a question of time...he's gonna go below 48 secs very soon...

  12. yeah, in a certain way... but still, I definitely prefer that (not that I don't like meat...it's just a step down in my own ranking)...
  13. fish and vegetables...don't forget the main part...
  14. noooo.... I didn't know you were so sensitive about that...
  15. meanwhile I'm waiting for the day they will show us 4K pictures (and add commentary to all those files still without it)...
  16. street food all the way... and who cares of the rest?... but I'm for fish and vegetables at most, rather than meat...

  18. well, I know about Quadarella history (she's the typical Italian athlete...until last year she used to train just once a day since she was going to highschool -where you have to attend classes everyday for 5/6 hours from September to June... basically she became a professional athlete after the end of her highschool education..that's why we always have a lot of those guys improving around the 19/20/21 years by quite some margin and we normally don't have 16/18 years old senior medal contenders (unless you're special like Pellegrini, who was so good at 16 that she started winning medals at that age in Athens despite not training like a pro yet)... Hungary instead has a different system...they really push everybody to the limit since the youngest age, therefore they have the "big jump" in their performance earlier than the average (the only thing they have if compared to other Countries, they can make their champions last for a long time -just look at Darnyi, Cseh, the same Katinka)... I don't know a lot about Titmus, but I don't think she's a differend kind of girl within the Australian standard... however, I'm just guessing and hoping...as I always say, my opinions are just opinions..and therefore are subject to fail (actually, most often I don't get it right)... my words are not "the Truth"...I've never thought to be God...
  19. well, a few years their situation was really complicated (not sure now it's a lot better, though)... once I read an interview by the great Yana Klockova and she basically said that swimming for her Country at that time was an "act of faith", since they didn't have almost any infrastructure nor a good coach (all stayed in russia when the 2 Countries split)... so, I can understand their guys taking some difficult decisions such leaving their own Nation... but stil, I have always so many doubts about Azerbaijani sport (and not only that)...
  20. just read the post above...it's not weird...you just can't compare Italy (and the other Latin Countries) with those I mentioned...the difference is enormous in all aspects of life... here in Italy you won't find more than 3% of people under 25 years going to live by themselves and living their life as "real adults"... in your (and many other) Countries this is difficult to understand...but that's how things go... all of our lives are postponed if compared to many other Nations and this reflects also on our sporting results overall, in the senior ranks...
  21. in the points race the most crowded group is always the main reference (you can add or take off points from that)...people only need to keep that in mind..and then it's not such chaos as many could think (well, a good tv commentator always helps in this case...and our tv is quite lucky...we have a certain Silvio Martinello at the mic right now )...
  22. more in general, Latin girls (and partially also Latin men) become "real women" ("real men") later than girls from GBR/USA/AUS and Northern European Countries... it's just a cultural question...unless life situations forces us otherwise, we normally spend more time with our original family before starting our own living project...and this reflects also on all the other activities, including a full physical and mental development... there are many studies trying to explain that...without a single convincing theory, to be honest...
  23. day #3 recap Men's Laser (4 races): Sam Meech 3 pts, Kaarle Tapper 5 pts, Tom Burton 7 pts Women's Laser Radial (4 races): Paige Riley 8 pts, Marie Rindom 9 pts, Line Flem Host 10 pts Finn (6 races): Ed Wright 22 pts, Max Salminen 22 pts, Nicholas Heiner 22 pts Men's 470 (6 races): Anton Dahlberg/Fredrik Bergstrom 15 pts, Keiju Okada/Jumpei Okazono 20 pts, Tetsuya Isozaki/Akira Takayanagi & Mathew Belcher/William Ryan tied with 21 pts Women's 470 (6 races): Ai Kondo Yoshida/Miho Yoshioka 17 pts, Hannah Mills/Eilidh McIntyre 19 pts, Camille Lecointre/Aloise Retornaz 27 pts Men's 49er (3 races): Logan Dunning Beck/Oscar Gunn, Lucas Rual/Emile Amoros, Mathieu Frei/Noe Delpech & Jorge Lima/Josè Costa all tied with 3 pts Women's 49er FX (3 races): Jena Hansen/Katja Slskov-Iversen 2 pts, Odile Van Aanholt/Marieke Jongens 3 pts, Ida Marie Baad Nielsen/Marie Thusgaard Olsen 4 pts
