  1. Kate Walsh and Helen Richardson are officially married (they even use the double surname now) and won together the women's field hockey gold medal for GB in Rio...
  2. I think in this case they're right... I remeber very well the final between Kye Sun and Tamura...it was one of the biggest shock of the Games...
  3. just another example... Mykhailo Romanchuk and Marina Bekh (married couple with serious medal chances in 2 different sports)
  4. thanks... I asked that because some Italian media have started speculating after she was 3rd in Rome GP last week (and, above all, because she's who she is and because she and Lorenzo De Luca are a couple since last year)... they always have to find something not sport related to give space to sports not being the usual suspects (Football, Ferrari and Valentino Rossi)...
  5. c'mon, man! how could they schedule CAN vs FIN at this time of the day?
  6. I expected that... too much hype for surf and skateboard on "la Repubblica"... however, all of our guys are still alive into the repechage rounds... and I see that Claire Bevilacqua has a very favourable draw now...basically, she only has Sally Fitzgibbons as WSL surfer in her heats (and maybe Paige Hareb if she advances to the main round #5)... it would be a shame if she doesn't take advantage of that and earns a spot among the top 10 of this championship... p.s. I see that in the main round #3 is still in the race that Chilean girl with the best name of them all...Lorena Fica for those who can't speak Italian, fica is the vernacular name for "vagina" (and it also means a particularly beautiful woman)...
  7. @dcro how many chances are there that Jessica Springsteen makes the US team for Tokyo?
  8. my picks: - no.1 has always happened since the medal race format has been used, so, I guess it will happen again (maybe even more than once)... - no.3 might well happen...it wouldn't be the 1st time, in case... - no.5 is one of the most obvious pick of the entire poll series (maybe it would have been more tricky and interesting if the "couple" had to be made by 2 athletes from different Countries)... - no.6 is also very much expected... 2 & 4 are very, very unlikely to happen to me, so I didn't pick them...
  9. athletes and table draws are exactly the same as in London... actually, this tournament must be seen as the simple completion of that one...
  10. I picked 1 (these Games are so controversial that it's very likely they get more attention than it would happen under normal circumstances), 2 (they definitely have the chances to grab a couple of medals between Taekwondo and Athletics) and 3 (the Olympic tournament has always been quite rich of undisciplined teams and players...it might be the young age or the inexperienced -incapable and biased- refs that normally we can find there, but a huigh number of red cards is always possible)... 4 and 5, to me are out of order, nearly impossible...no. 6...well, I might happen quite easily, but I hope it doesn't in the end...so, I don't pick it as a true statement...
  11. c'mon! ARG has 40,000+ covid cases a day and increasing, JPN less than 10% of that and going down (not to compare the number of people dying among those who get the infection)... let's try to keep thing withing the correct proportion, we just can't compare JPN with South America or any other South-East Asian Nation...
  12. no, only athletes involved in an actual competition can fight for quota places...
  13. after the heartbreaker in the air rifle, I didn't really believe she could comeback and earn this qualification... but she did it! and she did it in style, winning also the most unexpected European title... congrats to her!
  14. Gold Medal and Olympic Quota for Sofia Ceccarello...
  15. some results of the men's Freestyle weight classes: 57kg: Aryan Tsiutryn (BLR) vs Musa Mekhtikhanov, 9-5 (Bronze: Ramiz Gamzatov) 61kg: Rustam Karakhanov vs Abasgadzhi Magomedov, Magomedov by Fall (Bronze: Zhargal Damdinov) 65Kg: Alik Khadartsev vs Dasha Sharastepanov, 3-2 (Bronze: Chaiaan Mongush & Ramazan Ferzaliev) 70kg: Viktor Rassadin vs Kurban Shiraev, 1-8 (Bronze: Rezuan Kazharov & David Baev) 74kg: Aznaur Tavaev vs Nikita Suchkov, 12-9 (Bronze: Aiub Abregov & R.Bogatyrev) 79kg: Amanula Gadzhimagomedov vs Akhmed Usmanov, 1-3 (Bronze: Arsalan Budazhapov, KGZ & Iusup Aidaev) 86kg: Magomedsharif Biikaev vs Zelimkhan Minkailov, 3-2 (Bronze: Tazhitin Akaev & V.Valiev) 92kg: Guram Chertkoev vs Tamerlan Tapsiev, 10-0 sup. (Bronze: Nurgun Sergin & Z.Karimov) 97kg: Igor Ovsiannikov vs Magomedkhan Magomedov, 2-8 (Bronze: Devid Dzugaev & S.Gadzhialiev) 125kg: Khamzat Khizriev vs Zelimkhan Khizriev, 7-8 (Bronze: Ostap Pasenok & Vitalii Goloev) all of them are Russians, unless differently indicated... on this website, you can find the replays of all the tournament's sessions... https://sportrecs.com/video/fJIOpsIAukg2s2HsEwo-Jw from there, you can extract all the results you want (women's wrestling included)...you just need a lot of time and a lot of patience... on youtube, instead, you can find some selected matches (finals, but not only)... p.s. in a few days (maybe weeks) on the UWW and/or Wrestling Russia's websites they will publish the full results, I'm sure... but for now, we only have to wait or watch the videos...
  16. my 2 cents... the place goes to the best ranked Nation (in the final world qualification regatta) that hasn't qualified any other boat to the Games yet, considering both the final rankings of the world champs and of the continental qualification... if there's no Nation matching this criteria, the first below the line at the final world qualification regatta gets the quota place even if they already have more boats qualified to the Games... basically, you have to look at the final ranking of the final world qualification regatta...if in the LM2X there are 1 or more Nations that haven't qualified any boat to the Olympics, the best among them gets the place...if there are no such Nations, the quota place goes to the best team overall in that same regatta that missed out on the qualifying positions, making irrelevant the fact of having already some quota places or not...
  17. and after a few reasonable defeats, finally Italy gave up their dignity in the last period against the team that on paper was the less problematic for us in the whole championship...
  18. Polling should have switched to Italy when she had a chance... now she would be a safe starter for us...
  19. yes, it's quota for
  20. c'mon, man! that's too much! It's time for someone to take action against this troll...
  21. that's a no brainer... from any perspective, Weightlifting is just a farce... then, I'd also pick Boxing and Karate (with the continental spots' mess), if only it was a multiple choice poll...
  22. for what concerns the first 5 statements, I only picked 2 and 3 as true... the 6th one, well...I'd like to wait and see the actual starting list of that competition...on paper, it should be true...but, what if CHN for some unknown (or known) reason is forced to enter a girl in that weight class? so, for now it's 2 and 3 for me, but only considering the statements 1 through 5...
  23. what a comeback by the Czechs!
