  1. 99.9% the team would be: Jessica Rossi, Silvana Stanco (women's Trap) Mauro De Filippis (men's Trap) Chiara Cainero, Diana Bacosi (women's Skeet) Gabriele Rossetti, Tammaro Cassandro (men's Skeet) the mixed Trap team obviously has not been decided yet, since it's clear that the De Filippis & Stanco duo is not performing well right now because of Stanco poor condition, but at the moment Jessica Rossi is stuck on her position, not to shoot together with her former husband for any reason (still, the federation is trying to convince her to make her mind up and shoot the Olympic event together with De Filippis)...
  2. I agree...they should grant nominal quota to the world champions and then give the remaining quota available away using their wonderful and well organized 10k races world series... there, you really see the best specialists in the last 12/24 months and you're basically sure to not let any of the best out for a bad day or an injury (that happened 1 or 2 years before the Olympic event)...
  3. 3 & 5 are my picks... other options are quite likely, but in the end I think they won't happen... side poll: no, no and no once again...first remove all the non-sport activities and and the corrupted/ineluctably doped sports like boxing and weightlifting, then we could even talk of reducing quota from the true, honest Olympic sports...
  4. phelps from Totallympics (almost every sport) medial meniscus of the left knee has gone (ligaments have also suffered some damages)...
  5. I can tell you immediately that no Italian would eventually double up... we'll only enter Burgo & Beccaro in the men's K2 1000m and Rizza in the men's K1 200m (plus Francesca Fenzo in the women's 200m, after winning her spot in the European qualifying regatta)... no extra efforts for our guys...
  6. Ariarne Titmus just swam 1.53.09 in the women's 200m Freestyle at the Australian Olympic Trials...2nd fastest time ever and best clocking ever without the rubbish...ops, I meant rubber suits used in the 2008/2009 seasons... after going close to Ledecky's record over the 400m free yesterday, today the Australian superstar got even closer to the big target in the half distance... I guess she's gonna hit the headlines more than once in Tokyo (it looks she wants to swim the 800m free, too)... In today's other races, Kaylee McKeown swam 2.08.19 (PB, but worse than predicted) in the women's 200m IM and Jack McLoughlin easily won the men's 800m Free with an impressive 7.42.51 in absence of Elija Winnington (who focused only on the 200m/400m double of the previous days) and with Mack Horton totally out of shape (he was 5th with a time above 8 mins)...
  7. sad to be said, but this farce is the perfect end of a crazy, completely wrong and messed up qualification procedure... WKF did everything to justify their exclusion just after the Tokyo Olympics... they wanted Kata in, sacrifying 2 weight classes for each gender in Kumite, they accepted to have only an odd number of athletes per event (10) when normally we have more than 100 competitors in each class at the world champs, they put on a shameful and not understandable (and even prone to manipulation) qualification system, they chose the more than controversial round robin system for the final phase of the one and only global qualification tournament and finally, this one... with all the love I feel for the sport, this is just unacceptable and they deserve to be kicked out from the next Games... I truly hope they would eventually understand all of their mistakes and find the way to comeback with a better and fair product in the future, but I fear that's almost impossible with such kind of officials running the WKF... right now, I'm excited for the opportunity to watch the Olympic tournament, but at the same time I'm really sad for the poor management of all this and the consequential lack of perspective in the next future...
  8. it's impossible for him, even considering the eventual ban of COL, VIE, ROU and the limited quota of ALB and a few other Nations... he has too many lifters (also from Europe) ahead of him in the rankings... unless he gets a wildcard, but I don't think he's eligible for that... p.s. by the way, if COL and VIE get banned, ITA would gain a place in the women's -59kg (European quota), since Benteli is apparently out for doping and the German girl would sneak in into the top 8... I don't think we've ever had so many people qualified in weightlifting, at least since the limited quota places have been set...
  9. Lecomte on fire! Rissveds back in top shape just before the Olympics and, if I'm not wrong, Stigger on the podium for the first time in a senior "Olympic distance" race... quite interesting race earlier today in Leogang (AUT)...
  10. no team event...they were just talking of the finals of the individual events naming only the Nations of the athletes involved instead of writing their actual names (sometimes very complicated to remember while writing quickly)...
  11. Gogita Arkania and Tareg hamedi through to the round robin... Hamedi man of the day so far...spectacular ippons and big scores all day long...
  12. Tareg Hamedi vs Daniel Molnar and Thameur Slimani vs Gogita Arkania are the semifinals in the men's +75kg...
  13. that's also the end of dreams for Michele Martina, who lost to Yuldashev and therefore he's out of competition now...
  14. huge ippon by Daniel Molnar with only 4 seconds to be played...so, he wins the pool against Yaldashev...
  15. 1) true 2 and 3, likely, but I prefer go against the odds... 4 and 5, no way 6, possible...but unlikely to me... so, I only picked no.1... side polls... 1 - athletics, swimming, boxing, judo, karate, weightlifting, rowing, cycling, shooting, fencing, gymnastics, slalom canoeing, archery, sailing, taekwondo, wrestling, volleyball, beach volleyball, waterpolo...maybe even tennis... so, 19 or 20, I hope... 2 - I fear it's all in favour of Jessica Fox, but I hope to see a huge upset and someone else gets it...
  16. https://www.sportdata.org/wkf/set-online/popup_mitschrift_main.php?popup_action=mitschriftcatxml&catid=891&verid=386 they will be played just after the end of the main table draw of the men's +75kg...
  17. Semeraro wins it 5-0 against the Swiss girl and she's the first to go through to the round robin...
  18. so, Semeraro vs Quirici and Bratic vs Abdelaziz are the 2 semifinal matches in the women's +61kg class...winners go through to the round robin, losers will have another chance in the repechage finals...
  19. good win for Semeraro...now she's 1 win away from round robin...
  20. for sure at the Olympics there's no team event (which exists in Karate, but only at World and Continental champs)... I guess someone messed things up...
  21. and the German girl is on fire... now we're going to have pool A final between her and Silvia Semeraro... WKF live scoring is going crazy...for them Kopunova advanced against Semeraro (who won 3-2 on the mat, I'm sure of that 'cause I saw the match on Youtube)...
  22. bad Sunday morning for Greece... Chatziliadou out (for now) after a big loss against Kneer...
  23. wonderful act of fair play by Asahina earlier today in the gold medal match against her teammate Tomita... since Tomita was injured at the end of the fight and couldn't even walk anymore, Asahina carried her on her shoulders and tokke her to the locker room...she did even make the salute to the judges and the tatami with her (not so light) teammate on her shoulders... chapeau! we saw some very entertaining judo this week, but for me this is the picture of the championships...
  24. and quite good results are posted, too... among others, World U20 Record over the 400m Hurdles by Sean Burrell (47.85), impressive 19.91 over 200m dash by Joseph Fahnbulleh (followed by Terrence Laird in 19.94) and world leading time in 2021 for Randolph Ross (43.85)... https://www.worldathletics.org/news/report/burrell-world-u20-400m-hurdles-record-eugene
  25. Men's Triple Jump Andrea Dallavalle, 17.35m (wind: +1.7) at the Italian Youth Nationals in Grosseto (ITA) https://www.worldathletics.org/athletes/italy/andrea-dallavalle-14679517 Emmanuel Ihemeje, 17.14m (wind: +1.8) winning the NCAA Title in Eugene (USA) for the Oregon Ducks (he already has the OQM from the indoor season, but this is the first time he reaches the qualifying mark outdoor -it's also his outdoor PB)... https://www.worldathletics.org/athletes/italy/chiebuka-emmanuel-ihemeje-14629166
