  1. And we got rewarded with a high score in diving on a dive that was not great. Karma!
  2. I know it'll be a tough job, but I hope her success carries on to Tokyo next year. But let's first see what happens in Stuttgart.
  3. Again and again? I said it once. Anyway, if you read my posts you would know I wasn't accusing Smith of doping, I was saying Americans are quick to blame other countries when they have such sudden success.
  4. LOL, Oleksiak is a foot taller than all the other girls.
  5. On Canada's relay final vs prelims: Masse: +0.14 Prickrem v Smith: -2.19 MacNeil v Smith: -2.48 Oleksiak v Ruck: -0.52 What an improvement in the middle.
  6. I agree. Ruck, on the other hand, was underwhelming.
  7. As a Canadian who saw the US shame Ben Johnson in 1988 while giving the gold to Carl Lewis, you'll excuse me if I don't trust the fair application of drug standards across all countries. Again, to be clear, I don't think Smith is juicing. I'm just saying every time someone from certain countries shaves off multiple seconds from their PBs to give out of this world performances suddenly there are accusations and rumors.
  8. Good meet for Canada. 9 medals, most ever. Three medals for Masse, Pickrem, Ruck and Oleksiak. Surpirse rise of MacNeil. Not bad.
  9. Not making any accusations, but can't help but think if Regan Smith was from China or Russia people would be asking questions about her performances here.
  10. Masse, MacNeil, Pickrem and Oleksiak in the relay for Canada. Hopefully Pickrem isn't too tired, and hungry for a medal after that IM.
  11. It's tough for Canada (women) to compete for gold in the medley relay with such a weak breaststroke. Second slowest of the qualifiers, 2 seconds slower than the 4 teams who finished ahead of them. Unless Pickrem decides to do two finals tonight, Canada will just fight for bronze. I guess they could put Wog in, not sure how her 100 is (though her 100 split in the 200 race wasn't that far off Smith's split in the prelims today). Our men were so close to getting into the final, less than a second off. Wasn't expecting them to make it, but it would have been nice.
  12. I honestly don't understand what you're going on about. One individual swimmer says she thinks she can go faster with more work, and suddenly she's greedy and all of Canada is arrogant? Have you ever spoken to any athlete anywhere?
  13. I fail to see how an athlete wanting to improve is greedy, or deserving of negativity. Wanting to do better is a good thing for everyone.
  14. Personally, I really like relays but I find the 4x100 and 4x200 redundant. It's always the same countries winning medals. However, now that Canada wins medals in these I think they're the best thing ever and should stay on the program.
  15. She's said in each interview that she's not happy with her times. Still PBs in the finals and medals around her neck, so as a viewer I'd say she's doing her best. But according to her she can do better.
  16. Sanchez had a faster time in qualifications (by 0.02, but still, Ruck is supposed to be the next star).
  17. Ruck also had the 6th fastest time on her leg. Not exactly impressive. She has not had a great meet.
  18. But Canada looking good for the women's medley relay tomorrow. Got the gold medalists in the back and fly, bronze medalist in the breast (if they go with Pickrem) and the defending Olympic champion in the free who just had the fastest time in this relay.
  19. Yup. With respect to our whole team, can't do much with the state of the men's program as it is.
  20. Oleksiak and Manuel tie again for the best female 100 in the relay at 52 even.
  21. Masse now ties Pickrem for most individual medals at the WCs. But Masse has 2 golds, so technically ahead. Until tomorrow (hopefully) where Pickrem has a good chance in the 400 IM. Edit: Most individual medals for Canada.
  22. Wow, the Netherlands barely sneaks into the final of the relay by 0.08. Both Germany and Poland miss out on the finals by less than a third of a second.
