Yeah, my understanding is top 4 go for medals. Canada will still race to improve their standing, but no chance at a medal.

I had my doubts after Italy and Germany, but Aus left the door open for a top 4. They were doing great till the last 2 laps. Oh well. On to soccer.

Massive disappointment by the Canadians. Top 4 would have been tough after Germany's time, but Aus left the door open. Unfortunately the Canadians imploded on the last few laps. Medal favorites to last place.

That whole situation is a joke. They cheated at the highest level across the board and their punishment is....they can't use their flag and have to slightly change their name. If it was Uganda or Mongolia they'd be banned. Idk if any of their athletes are doping here, but history and the complete lack of consequences suggest that it's likely. Of course Italy just had a sprinter who barely ever got under 10 seconds win the gold medal suddenly, so I'm not saying only one country has suspicious results.

And only 4 total wrestlers to begin with.

Surprising last semi final. We'll see how that affects their final.

De Grasse into the final after a long delay. But he didn't look as good as he did yesterday.

At least the swimmers got the job done, and the beach volleyballers won their match unexpectedly (though I'm convinced it means Pavan and Humana-Paredes will lose now). But yeah, basketball sucked, diving and sailing disappointments. Wrestling, too. Hoping Andre can do something special tonight. And still an outside shot in vault.

The good(?) news is even if she didn't miss that one dive Abel probably wouldn't have been on the podium anyway. Some athletes can step up when it counts, like that American.
