5 silvers for Canada tonight at track and field. Canadians came in as leaders on some of those, but oh well.

There's another one about to come in high jump, just wait a couple of minutes.

They're going to have to do it again for gold.

A Canadian has the top entry time for the 200m IM tomorrow, and another Canadian has the 3rd fastest. But the top three are all within a couple of tenths of each other, so we'll see how that plays out.

Our rowers come through with 2 golds, moving Canada back into 3rd for now. Looking at the schedule and what's gone on so far, today could be a big day for Canada. Quite a few chances in athletics, archery, wrestling and some others.

I think Brazil has solidified 2nd place on the medal table. Mexico will likely finish ahead of Canada due to Basque Pelota. Canada will have to work to stay ahead of Cuba. In terms of total medals, Canada could finish ahead of Brazil still. It'll be close.

The USA was only a second behind Canada after two legs of the mixed relay even though Canada had used both men while the USA had used one of each. So...yeah.

Another silver for Canada! Always the bridesmaid, never the bride.

For far too long, Canada was dead in athletics and swimming, not to mention gymnastics. Those are the three biggest events, so it was not great.

Also, not to be arrogant (because I personally have nothing to do with it), but if Canada brought their A-teams in every event they would get many more golds. We don't even have a 4x100 relay team here on the track.

You're correct. We also don't produce many multi-medalists. Like a Phelps or Bolt, to use obvious examples. Rio was the first time in a long time I remember Canada having multiple-medalists.

Meanwhile, Canada is pretty weak. Maybe a couple of chances in rowing tomorrow. An upset in a team sport (Canada is a strong 2nd in field hockey, water polo, softball and maybe basketball, but hard to come away with a gold). Going to have to muster something in wrestling, BMX, and athletics to keep up. It just seems that there is always someone better in everything, hence all the silvers. Canada is good at team sports, but there is always one country better, that sort of thing.
