  1. Well, I meant that the women will win 8-9. But you're right, Canada won 6 swimming medals back in the 70s, so technically 12 would make it double I was talking modern times. The point still stands, Canadian women are miles ahead of the men.
  2. All I can see is that there are no reaction times logged for the last two of their swimmers, although split times are there.
  3. The Italian commentator just said "Momma Mia" and thus my life is better now.
  4. His backstroke leg was 7th overall in the heats, .01 top 5. Not bad.
  5. It's not on the sidebar for me, I click on "others" and when I click on the FINA WC it keeps bringing me to random youtube channels. But really, it's fine. Italian is good for prelims.
  6. Apparently it "expired". But it's okay, I've got the Italian one going. Thanks.
  7. The disparity between our men and women is crazy now. Only one man has even made a SF so far, and I don't see that changing. Meanwhile our women are going to double the best medal count Canada has ever gotten all by themselves.
  8. As far as I know. In 2017 I believe the US had 4 completely different swimmers in the final despite having set the WR in the heats.
  9. The line ups for the mixed relay tonight. https://swimswam.com/day-4-relay-lineups-u-s-australia-use-b-squads-in-mixed-medley-prelims/ Looks like Canada is going with their A-team (not much choice). US and AUS going with B-teams.
  10. Semenya is a completely different situation. She was born the way she is. Sun chose to cheat (and destroy evidence). On top of that, Semenya is not disrespectful to her competitors.
  11. When will we find out the participants for each country for the mixed relay tomorrow?
  12. OMG! Drag Race and Olympic sports together at last! My two favourite things!
  13. I have to agree with you that American media is unnecessarily suspicious of non-American swimmers (and athletes in general) doing well. There's even rumblings on other sites about how suspicious the sudden rise of Canadian women is. I find this interesting considering the US's history with performance enhancements, both caught and obvious yet allowed. As a Canadian it was frustrating to watch Ben Johnson embarrass our nation while Carl Lewis had to remove syringes from his neck to get the gold (metaphorically, of course). However, Sun is a proven cheat and has a terrible attitude. I only heard praise of Hosszu in 2016, the Canadian media was fawning over her. I think Sun is a strange hill to die on to defend non-Western athletes. Efinova has done much more to recover her image and has earned the, marginal, respect of her competitors again.
  14. No, it was started by Yang being a drug cheat, destroying evidence and being ridiculously over the top after winning on a technicality. Some other competitors are protesting silently and peacefully, that doesn't give Sun the right to be aggressive and insulting. Maybe he's getting his cues from the thugs in HK right now, but I'll leave that to the politics page. Just to be clear, I lived and worked in China for 3 years. I loved it, and the people. The pollution and weather is what drove me away.
  15. Sun got aggressive on the podium and shouted on live TV at another competitor, "You're a loser and I'm a winner!". And yet it's everyone else's fault.
  16. Masse is the first Canadian to defend her/his gold medal at the WC. Second Canadian to get a 2nd gold medal at the WC after the great Victor Davis.
  17. Oleksiak went out really hard, faded towards the end. But that should get her into the finals anyway.
  18. It's decriminalized in the Netherlands, not legal. I lived there for a while. Locals don't partake, just the tourists, anyway.
