  1. Even when it looks like the Americans are in trouble and can lose all the swimming finals today, ofc they have a 17 year old to save the day.
  2. Okay, time to turn off v , I don't want to watch this. If we are playing like this, we shouldn't have qualified. I hope this is the end of everyone in charge of this team if we lose.
  3. I forgot to comment here yesterday that out of all the sports so far, this is the one where the lack of the audience made the biggest impact for me. At least in most sports there's enough atmosphere to sell the big moments. Here there isn't anything supplementing the audience reactions during the routines, the silence is terrible.
  4. Don't compare the Winter and Summer Games. The Winter Games don't have any issues with limited number of athletes quotas because it's still a smaller event compared to the Summer Games. The inclusion of surfing (as the inclusion of any new sport) means that the number of athlete quotas get reduced in other sports. And I say this as someone from a country who definitely don't benefit from additional Winter Olympic events.
  5. The problem is that the other "boring" sports have a long legacy at the Games, so there's no question about that they should stay in the program. Surfing on the other hand was added to the program to reach a new audience and I would be very surprised if they succeeded at that because this might be the worst broadcast of the entire Games.
  6. Paris2024 has to "save" this with Tahiti, because if they can't with that location... At least skateboarding can maybe improve by becoming more of an Olympic sport, surfing on the hand... I don't know how you can make this a watchable event that has a right to stay in the Olympics.
  7. They wont get as much spotlight here as our medalists, but our athletes in triathlon did such a good job, a 12th place in the women's race after yesterday's 7th place, both are our best results in these events. Nice to see that we are finally improving in this sport. Also, congrats to , a historic gold is a great way to start the day.
  8. This is crazy, Japan is unstoppable in the final set.
  9. GOLD in fencing! And for the first time since 1980 Italy doesn't win any fencing gold medals in the individual events...
  10. Poor Velikaya, always the bridesmaid, never the bride.
  11. Well, that's that. I hope that it was because Márton couldn't handle the pressure because other explanation is far worse for our team.
  12. I don't know what would be more cruel, 3rd silver for Velikaya or 2nd lost bronze match for Brunet. (But I know which one I want to happen. )
  13. The Russians are just too good in women's sabre. Two Russians in the women's sabre final for the second time in a row.
  14. So far is the only country that can stop in judo.
  15. Unless I am mistaken, at the very least one of (or both) and will win their first ever medal in fencing at the Summer Games. And this is 's chance to win their first ever fencing gold.
  16. Yeah, that draw was unfortunate. I wasn't even sad when Karakas lost, I was like "whatever, she had almost no chance to win a medal anyway with this draw".
  17. The refs gave the draw to against us, disgusting. Now the goal difference will decide the 2nd place in the group.
  18. After that injury I wouldn't have guessed that Márton will be in the SF, but here we are. She got lucky with the draw, fenced against lower ranked athletes, and she very much struggled against them, so I am not sure if she has any chance against Velikaya. Still, we have never been this close to win a medal in women's sabre.
  19. Meanwhile Italy is down to men's foil to save them, just like in Rio. This would be the first Games since 1980 where Italy doesn't win any individual events.
  20. Pusztai is out, but Márton somehow survived one more round, it would be a smaller miracle if she reaches the Top4 with the injury.
  21. It looks like Márton won't withdraw, we will soon find out if this is a wise decision.
