  1. We defeated them surprisingly easily, so I think you will most likely beat them in the QF based on your performance in the group stage.
  2. Christ, this "weaker" Serbia is terrifying against Greece. They will easily win a medal even with their B-team.
  3. That's not a new rule. Fencing always had two bronze medalists outside the Olympics in the individual events.
  4. Top10 nations in world ranking points after 2 events: 1. South Korea - 220 pts 2. Hungary - 135 pts 3. China - 130 pts 4. Italy - 127,5 pts 5. Russia - 122,5 pts 6. Ukraine - 85 pts 7. Brazil - 82,5 pts 8. France - 81,25 pts 9. United States - 81,25 pts 10. Germany - 78,75 pts
  5. Well, damn, Szatmári truly saved the day for us, medal on the "first" day.
  6. Only two Europeans in the Women's Epee QFs, and one of them is from Luxembourg. Edit: Three, not two.
  7. Szatmári kinda saves the day for us so far, we still have 2 in Saber. It will be hard to get that individual medal in Saber after Szilágyi's early defeat that I think many expected from our athletes here.
  8. The whole Montano-Gemesi match seemed like a clusterfuck of weird decisions. (and let's just say that the Hungarians absolutely hate Montano because of that similarly heated Athens Olympic final, so they are really happy about this result)
  9. Well, that's probably the biggest negative upset we will get at this WCh... Szilágyi out in R32.
  10. All the higher ranked fencers lost on the red piste including Navarria. Edit: And Kinga Nagy defeated world rank #4 Choi!
  11. What happened to her? I didn't follow fencing that closely since the last Olympics, the last time I saw her was when Szász defeated her in the Olympic final.
  12. Fiamingo already out in Women's Epee, defeated by Rodriguez Quesada from Cuba in R64.
  13. Number of qualified athletes per nation after the preliminary round (bold indicates nations that have at least one qualified athlete in all 6 events): 23 athletes France 22 athletes Italy, South Korea, United States 21 athletes Russia 20 athletes Hungary 19 athletes China 18 athletes Japan 15 athletes Ukraine 14 athletes Germany 13 athletes Canada, Hong Kong, Poland 10 athletes Great Britain, Romania 9 athletes Spain, Venezuela 7 athletes Egypt 6 athletes Czech Republic, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Switzerland, Turkey 5 athletes Estonia, Mexico 4 athletes Cuba, Iran, Tunisia 3 athletes Argentina, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Denmark, Israel, Netherlands, Singapore, Uzbekistan, Vietnam 2 athletes Belgium, Belarus, Chile, Colombia, Finland, Greece, India, Luxembourg, Thailand 1 athlete Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Latvia, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia
  14. The WCh is over for Dénes Varga because of an injury. He's our best player (and one of the best water polo players in the world), so yeah... not a great start for us.
  15. It has to be Danuta Kozák for us (Hungary) if she will be available. She's the only female athlete to win K1, K2 and K4 at the same Olympics in Canoe Sprint, has 5 Olympic gold medals and she only needs to win one more to "beat" Krisztina Egerszegi, and become the most successful Hungarian female athlete of all time. Katinka Hosszú is more well-known and an obvious choice for us, but I am pretty sure about that she's will skip the OC, she will have a 400m IM heat the next morning.
