  1. Well, now the women's sabre team has to save us, otherwise we will likely only have one team at a SOG that has 6 team events.
  2. UKR-HUN 45-36 in Men's Epee. Disaster...
  3. Our new world champion Siklósi ends with a -6 against Ukraine... We might not qualify for the Olympics because of this.
  4. I don't like how close that match against Ukraine is in Men's Epee. It would be a disaster for us to not reach the QF.
  5. Yeah, she's getting better and better every year: 2017 WCh: 4:05.75 (6th) 2018 ECh: 4:03.57 (2nd) 2019 WCh: 4:01.31 (4th) I wouldn't be surprised if she goes under 4:00 at the Olympics, which should be enough for a medal. I doubt that she can beat Ledecky and Titmus, unless some miracle happens.
  6. Ajna will get it next time in Tokyo, I am 100% sure.
  7. I swear we won't stop hosting literally every important WCh multiple times until the IOC finally gives the Olympic Games to Budapest.
  8. The Aquatics WCh will be back in Europe after 3 Asian WChs: Kazan 2025 and Budapest 2027
  9. Yeah, looking at the current OR, it seems pretty safe to say that KOR, ITA, HUN, GER, RUS, USA, IRI, EGY will be the Olympic 8 in men's sabre, unless one of the European teams (Russia) completely flops in the World Cup.
  10. As I expected it, our women's foil team is way too weak for an Olympic qualification. Let's hope that we can still qualify three teams.
  11. On one hand I am happy that we avoided Montenegro, but on the other hand... yeah, this won't be easy against this Australia.
  12. Holy shit Katinka, I did not expect that time in the heats at all. That must be her best time ever in a heat in 200 IM.
  13. Top 10 nations after 6 events 1. Russia - 506,25 pts 2. Italy - 435 pts 3. France - 431,25 pts 4. South Korea - 425 pts 5. Hungary - 366,88 pts 6. Ukraine - 325 pts 7. United States - 273,75 pts 8. China - 260 pts 9. Japan - 239,38 pts 10. Germany - 190,01 pts
  14. We finally have a schedule for Men's sabre and Women's epee: 10:00 Women's Epee, QF 11:00 Men's Sabre, QF 12:00 Women's Epee, SF 13:15 Men's Sabre, SF 16:20 Women's Epee, 3rd place match 17:10 Men's Sabre, 3rd place match 18:00 Women's Epee, Final 18:50 Men's Sabre, Final
  15. Well, this is historic. For the first time since 1987 Italy wasn't able to reach the final in any of the individual fencing events. (and in 1987 women's epee and women's sabre didn't exist)
  16. I thought that it was strange how Italy only has one chance left for an individual gold, so I started searching for the last WCh where Italy didn't win any gold medals in the individual events. And it's 1995, they won two team gold medals that year, but no individual gold medals.
  17. There goes our incredibly small chance of Olympic qualification in Women's epee. I think for the first time ever Hungary won't have a single female athlete at the Olympics in epee since the introduction of the event in 1996. Our team was way too young, they need one more Olympic cycle to get experience.
  18. United States continues to have a disappointing WCh, they were defeated by Romania in the R16 of Men's sabre. France is also out, which likely means that they won't have a men's sabre team in Tokyo.
  19. Multiple injuries today in Women's sabre, including our Katona.
  20. Yeah... the individual medals are great, but this will be a failed WCh for us if the teams flop. We need to qualify at least two teams (I guess we can realistically qualify three at best if everything works out perfectly, the men's epee team and the two sabre teams?)
  21. Top 10 nations in world ranking points after 4 events 1. Russia - 336,25 pts 2. Italy - 322,5 pts 3. Hungary - 286,25 pts 4. South Korea - 272,5 pts 5. France - 261,25 pts 6. China - 208,75 pts 7. Japan - 190,63 pts 8. Ukraine - 190 pts 9. United States - 166,25 pts 10. Germany - 132,51 pts
  22. 4 years ago Imre won the Men's Epee WCh for us at the age of 40, and now Siklósi wins it at the age of 21. Young world champions on the men's side so far (22 and 21).
  23. lol, they have won every single gold medal so far this year and they would win almost all the individual medals if diving would have the same 4 athletes per NOC system as fencing.
  24. Great comeback from Rédli, he defeated world rank #3 Limardo Gascon from 8-11.
  25. lol, another revenge for the Hungarians for a lost Olympic final. This time Siklósi defeated Park Sangyoung. (that Men's Epee Rio final still hurts so much. It was one of the most amazing comebacks I have ever seen in an Olympic final, too bad it happened against Géza Imre, who would have been such a deserving Olympic champion at the age of 41)
