  1. According to my calculations these are the provisional quota's per NOC after World Cup 1 out of 4: Men: NOC Max # of different skaters 500m 1.000m 1.500m 3.000m 5.000m Mass Start Team Pursuit 4 1 1 1 1 5 2 1 1 1 8 3 3 3 2 2 1 3 7 3 2 2 3 1 1 1 1 1 1 2 1 1 3 1 2 2 1 1 7 2 2 1 1 1 1 8 2 1 1 2 1 1 3 7 3 3 3 1 1 3 4 2 1 1 7 2 3 2 1 3 1 1 9 3 3 3 3 2 2 3 8 2 2 3 2 2 1 3 2 1 1 7 2 2 2 2 7 2 2 2 3 2 2 3 1 1 2 1 1 1 1 7 1 2 2 2 2 3 *10.000m ranking is purely based on current combined World Cup standings over 5.000m/10.000m. Next week, the only 10.000m will be skated. Total maximum number of different skaters is now 114, though only 83 different skaters per gender may start. Reserves per distance (in order): 500m: 1.000m: 1.500m: 5.000m: Mass Start: Team Pursuit: currently first reserve on two distances. As long as I can remember, they've always qualified multiple skaters, so it would be a pity to see them missing out. I'm also hoping for Gabriel Odor to qualify on the men's 1.500m and/or mass start. also just outside of the qualifying spots only 2 skaters currently ranked high enough for a direct quotum on the 500m, which is probably the biggest surprise. .
  2. According to my calculations these are the provisional quota's per NOC after World Cup 1 out of 4: Women: NOC Max # of different skaters 500m 1.000m 1.500m 3.000m 5.000m Mass Start Team Pursuit 1 1 3 1 1 1 7 1 1 2 1 1 3 8 2 2 2 3 2 2 3 7 2 3 2 2 1 2 7 1 2 2 1 2 3 1 1 1 7 2 2 2 1 4 1 1 1 1 8 3 2 3 2 2 2 3 6 1 1 2 1 1 7 2 2 1 2 9 3 3 3 3 2 2 3 6 1 1 1 1 1 3 7 2 2 2 2 3 8 3 3 3 2 1 2 3 2 1 1 2 1 1 3 1 1 1 7 3 2 2 1 2 3 *5.000m ranking is purely based on current combined World Cup standings over 3.000m/5.000m. Next week, the only 5.000m will be skated. Total maximum number of different skaters is now 112, though only 83 different skaters per gender may start. However, many countries will probably let several skaters skate multiple distances, i.e. will use only Sablikova and Zdrahalova (and maybe Kursova) to fill their 7 quota. Reserves per distance (in order): 500m: 1.000m: 1.500m: 3.000m: Mass Start: Team Pursuit: is the biggest country missing as Vanessa Herzog is injured. Hopefully she'll return in December to secure her spot.
  3. is currently 1st reserve on the men's mass start Still 2 more world cups to go though, but that would be amazing!
  4. Kjeld Nuis just finished 4th at the Dutch National Championships on the 1.000m in 1.07,88. With that time you would've won the world title last season on the same track.
  5. Amazing race from Kiesenhofer! This is why I love the Olympics. It makes for such great stories!
  6. Great race and a great winner indeed. Great gold medal for
  7. This sport is nerve wracking to watch South Korea will annihilate the Dutch team in the final, I reckon.
  8. Congrats to Japan! Who will replace them in next week's tournament?
  11. I was scrolling through the results just now and came here to see if anyone else had noticed. 28,01 in the semi-finals, then 28,01 in the swim-off and then 28,01 in the final. That’s impressively consistent.
  12. Yes, unless another skater achieves a total score of 186 points twice within the qualification period. The personal best of Niki Wories is 148 points, so that's highly unlikely. But great to have a Dutch figure skater at the Olympics for the first time since 1976!
  13. Loved this first race. It was exciting until the finish. Great debut for Tsunoda as well, scoring points in his first race.
  14. https://nocnsf.nl/olympische-spelen/beijing-2022/kwalificatie-eisen For every sport you'll find one link to a document with the international criteria and then directly below it a link to the criteria of the Dutch NOC (all in Dutch though). Section A2 of the documents include the national criteria. For some sports like biathlon and cross-country skiing, the national criteria just state that there is no athlete who has any chance of making the Olympics and therefore no further criteria were determined. As everything is in Dutch, let me know if you need any help with translations.
  15. Figure skating is the only sport for which the Dutch NOC has not published their internal selection criteria yet. There's a very realistic chance they won't accept the quota yet though, as the philosophy is that every athlete that will go to Beijing has to prove that they have a realistic chance of finishing top 8 in Beijing. I don't think a top 16 here is sufficient.
  16. And our only competitive fencer Bas Verwijlen qualified for his 4th Olympics in men’s epee
  17. Britt Eerland won her group and therefore meets the international qualification criteria. However, she hasn’t met the Dutch criteria yet, so she’s not sure of Tokyo yet. She has to be in the top 16 of the world ranking counting max 2 athletes per country. She’s currently 18th on that ranking. She’s the best Dutch player by far and placed 28th on the world rankings at the moment. At times I really don’t understand the Dutch NOC’s criteria.
  18. Third gold medal of the day for
  19. 2nd, 3rd and 5th place for in the men's 400m final. Good sign for the 4x400 m relay tomorrow.
  20. Standings after day 1: Women: Suzanne Schulting - 68 points Arianna Fontana - 26 points Courtney Sarault - 24 points Selma Poutsma - 16 points Xandra Velzeboer - 15 points Sofia Prosvirnova - 13 points Kristen Santos - 8 points Hanne Desmet - 2 points Cynthia Mascitto - 1 point Nicole Mazur - 1 point Men: Charles Hamelin - 36 points Shaoang Liu - 36 points Semen Elistratov - 34 points Itzhak de Laat - 21 points Pietro Sighel - 13 points Sandor Shaolin Liu - 8 points Dylan Hoogerwerf - 8 points Stijn Desmet - 5 points Luca Spechenhauser - 5 points Maxime Laoun - 3 points Konstantin Ivliev - 3 points Exciting tournament on the men's side. On the women's side Schulting will probably win if nothing weird happens, but the battle for the other two medals seems to be wide open.
