Quick Preview - in *Archery USA won silver in London but Individually we had disappointing performances, Brady Ellison is looking good and maybe we can get a first medal here. *Gymnastics - USA will be in the team finals, but questions about the All Around Final and Individual Apparatus, i think Sam Mikulak should make it to the AA Final, Leyva to Horizontal Final, Nddour to the Pommel Horse and Probably Mikulak to one or 2 other finals. * Team Sports - Basketball,Volleyball,Football should be won easily, Water Polo not so much since croatia destroyed usa 4 years ago, Hockey can go either way though i think argentina. Rugby Sevens i don't know enough about but maybe win against colombia? Beach Volleyball - Walsh/Ross should win but Gibb/Paterson could face issues against Qatar * Fencing - we'll know the draw tomorrow but it's the Hurley sisters and Katherine Holmes, don't think it will be one of our strong fencing lineups but in fencing anything can happen * Table Tennis - maybe a win but they wont go far * Shooting - Virginia Thrasher and Sarah Scherer in 10m Air Rifle and Will Brown and Jay Shi in 10m Air Pistol - Probably no medal, but shooting also very unexpected * Swimming - Medal in 4x100 Relay Women is probable but gold is hard, 400IM men is Chase Kalisz and for women the newcomer Maya Dirado , both medal hopefuls in my opinion, Men 400 Free - Connor Jaeger can Medal Not really bringing up rowing since it's still heats and losers go to repechage anyway

The Idea is good, nothing will happen if the world series will be mid november one year. I'm all for it, but i'm just having a very hard time actually seeing it happening. Would love to see top players from USA, Japan, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Panama, South Korea,Canada,Venezuela compete on an olympic level and not just triple a players who will eventually become stars but not when they play in the olympics.

MLB will NEVER let players go, this sport is way more popular in the US then hockey. People will simply not accept stopping the season for a month and it will really screw up the scheduling since they play every day. I would LOVE to see it happening, but it wont, not this time. MAYBE if L.A wins the 2024 olympics , MAYBE

USA is not much better, even though we have so many good athletes, swimmers, gymnasts. On a regular basis outside of the 3 months before the olympics all people care about most is football, basketball, baseball. (Granted i'm a huge Football fan, but don't really care about the rest). NBC are great because they stream everything, but the TV Coverage is horrible plus their playback rules are really really annoying!!

USA having a poll on nbcolympics.com as to who should be the flag bearer, Time also wrote that it should be Ibtihaj Mohammad, well that will make Donald Trump Happy!

Again, i never argued that USA Basketball are bigger, then Phelps or Bolt. But on par with them So let's open up the question. out of all the athletes in Rio, if you will ask every sports fan in the world, which athletes will be overall most recognizable? I Think it will be USA Basketball, Phelps, Bolt, Dojokovic, Murray. (Maybe Simone Biles as well)

And Parts of the world dont care about soccer and couldn't care less if they stand next to messi, while the other side only accepts the name football for it and while i would love to shake Peyton Manning's hand, someone else couldn't care less about it. Big parts of the world only accept Athletics, Swimming, Gymanstics every 4th year. Different countries have different interests. Just listen to a podcast with Nastia Liukin few days ago where she said that in Beijing when she was already pretty big household name in USA she was afraid to approach Dirk Nowitzki!! Look in China during Beijing 2008 where it was a festival every time Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard went sightseeing. I can tell you that in Israel there is a huge love for NBA, and probably in a lot of other countries. Some people might not like it sure, but i believe larger part will. And also look at Opening Ceremonies of the past since NBA players joined. They are ganged up by the same Americans every time, Just last time i remember selfies from everywhere with Kobe. And i'm guessing this year will not be different even if Lebron, Kobe, Steph or Westbrook stayed home.

In the olympics nba players are the biggest every day stars. Even to most Olympians seeing kevin durant. Carmelo Anthony will be something they often just dream of. Even without kobe. Lebron. Steph. They are still the biggest celebrities along with a very select few. Bolt. Phelps. Djokovic.

How many buildings does USA occupy? we have 555 athletes (i know nba players stay on a ship in a harbor, but that just 12)

Guys, any chance we can put here the dates of the draws to be conducted this week, i know Wrestling and Taekwando will be before the competitions in the second week. I believe Table Tennis is the 3rd, and Boxing is the 4th. I believe this week we also have Fencing, Judo and Tennis, are there dates? also are there links anywhere to see it live? i know there was link for the Table Tennis draw, not sure about any of the others

It will never happen because of the euro's, unless fifa completley changes the schedule and moves the world cup forward one year , the clubs will never agree to send all players to euro and olympics the same year, will never happen
