  1. According to american media IOC still might kick russia out completley, pending on the results of the sochi investigation, though find it hard to believe
  2. good thing we wont have any weighlifters in rio LOL well.... 4 that no one really cares about
  3. how many americans winning medals in Weightlifting? 0 , Pretty safe to assume that we are not doping there
  4. Israel will probably reject the single quota they got in Women's Foil because Delila Hatuel didnt get the Israeli Selection Results (top 16 in european championships)
  5. I remember asking british tennis fans if they consider murray's win in london in wimbeldon as same as winning actual wimbledon, the answer was no, was much more important to actually win wimbledon year later
  6. I dont know if we can judge rugby yet because its a new sport. We see the hesitation in golf. Plus i think they should've put more or different events to make it closer to reyder cup rather then a straight 4 day competition that we just saw with the us open or any other competition every weekend. Tennis tournament is also something everyone can see any day of the year therefore doesn't provide too much intrigue
  7. I was talking to a friend of mine and we got to the subject of competitons that are more important, right now we can only name 3 Football - World Cup, Euro obviously mean much more Tennis and Golf - Majors Possibly Ice Hockey now with the problems of the NHL inclussion on Pyongchang and used to be Baseball since MLB players didnt show up and will have to get some sort of agreement if the federation wants baseball to be a bigger part of the olympics (probably wont happen since just like NHL it's in the middle of the MLB season , even towards the end of it)
  8. at Age 35 Federer will play in 3 events in a very dense olympic schedule? kind of doubtful..... if he makes it to third round singles and doubles semis then he will have to play 3 matches on the 10th!
  9. On Wiki Nadal still appears as unable to participate due to the davis cup bs. Was it confirmed that Nadal is in?
  10. It's time for the IOC to re-evaluate if Weighlifting should really be an olympic sport, so many doping scandals, so many top athletes cheat. Where do the science end and the sport begin?
  11. Who is the last individual place going to? Jesus Gonzalez from Venezuela is ranked 17 at 105kg and Anatoly Mushyk from Israel is also ranked 17 at 94kg
  12. LMAO, last time they were in the playoffs i think Karl Malone was a laker
  13. is the continental cup only for NOCs that didnt qualify anyone through the rankings or if an NOC qualified one team they can qualify second one through the continental cup (like germany on the men side for example)
  14. Personally I'm hoping for a late call for dangelo russel but its tokyo 2020 for him
  15. While i think that our team is still so insanely deep that they should be able to win regardless, they are making it closer and closer, but few more players drop and i will start getting 2004 flashbacks. Dissapointing that Curry wont play, hopefully Lebron stays home, don't want him there
  16. Can the groups get any harder for USA Volleyball? first the Women with China, Serbia, Italy and Netherlands, now the men with Brazil, Italy and France!!
  17. i think they did it that fast so hopefully either Paquiao or Mayweather will suddenly choose to compete which wont happen. Countries with good boxers have their quota filled up pretty much (like russia). Don't think it will be very fair to put amateurs vs pros in Rio. I don't really watch boxing but that's what makes sense to me....
  18. The only sorta surprise i see is at 60, Eric Takabatke finished the ranking period with more points then Kitadai
  19. honestly i am trying to figure it out myself.....  If the athlete qualified through continental qualification, the quota place will be reallocated to the next best ranked athlete of that continent according to the Continental Ranking List regardless of the athlete’s weight category, while respecting the following principles:.  Maximum one (1) athlete per NOC can qualify through continental qualification across all weight categories and genders.  Maximum two (2) athletes per weight category per continent can qualify through continental qualification.  Gender quotas must be respected in each continent, as per the table in D. Qualification Places.  If a continent fails to use its full allocation, any remaining quota place will be reallocated according to the IJF World Ranking List of 30 May 2016 to the highest ranked athlete, not yet qualified, in the respective gender, respecting the maximum quota of one (1) athlete per NOC per event.
  20. like my son says.... MESS! if someone who went through the top 22/top 14 rejects it it goes to the next one , however if it's someone who rejects the continental quota then it goes back into the continental quota list. so if south africa rejects the quota it goes into the african continental quota. If there is no one else to take , which is possible because africa and oceania already dont have enough judokas to fill the quota then it just goes to top athlete not yet qualified as long as no one from that country qualified in his weight (also have to be whatever gender have quotas remaining)
  21. Guys im in eugene right now. Enjoying the prefontaine classic. First night its laid back seat wherever you want. I just stood right next to Pawel Fijadek!! And athletes are walking all over the place next to the crowd
  22. Olympics always been second to the grand slams but this is getting ridiculous. Its the olympics!! Its not like soccer where younger teams play. Wouldnt surprise me if tennis will be attempted to be taken off the schedule for tokyo or 2024
  23. Ashley Nee from USA was given a place in Women's K1! http://www.teamusa.org/News/2016/May/23/Third-Times-A-Charm-For-Kayaker-Ashley-Nee-Whos-Been-An-Olympic-Contender-Since-2008
