  1. She went out much harder than she usually does and maybe suffered a tad as a result. Still an incredible talent
  2. Just going to say that Ollie Morgan’s time for a heat swim is utter stonking. Hope he goes even faster tonight…
  3. My gut instinct is that they will give Anderson every chance. In my mind she really has to go. Bird I really don’t know about - you’d assume surely with no other representation in the 400m or 800m then he has a very strong argument. i think the issue from the quota is mainly on the Big freestyle squads we will take on both men and women with the relays in mind. If the distance freestylers get in (Amelie and Dan Jarvis and Kieran), the 30 gets tight considering we are likely to have 4 backstrokers go on men’s and women’s side.. breaststroke looks likely to have 2 women and 2 men. Fly is looking like 2 women and men too. I’m assuming the IMs will be dean Scott Max Litchfield, Colbert and Katie and Abbie (already counting in the individual stroke totals above). 16 from combined fly, breast and back + 3 distance swimmers would take you to 19. mens free squads - proud Burras Dean Scott guy richards whittle max litchfield (8)but I’ve counted Jimmy in the fly, so this adds 7. womens free squads - Anderson Colbert wood Harris hope Hopkin. Possibly okaro to make the team for the 4x100. That would be 7 but already counting Medi in the backstroke, so it’s 6 to add to the count. that gets you to 32.
  4. my other takeaway from tonight was in the junior girls 200m freestyle. Amelie was absolutely nowhere at 150 and stormed back to almost win the entire thing. She sets a PB in the process and the way she came back is very encouraging for her 1500m tomorrow.
  5. Seems like the expectation is that Wilby will get selected. Backup for the medley relays at least
  6. Interesting one for me was Leah Schlossan going 1m 58 in 5th. Youngster putting a case forward to be considered for the relay IF Freya Anderson doesn't go.
  7. Phoebe Cooper with an impressive 2m flat 200m free...Great junior prospect.
  8. I think Stephens will be taken. World Champion and made the qualification time. Just got her pacing slightly wrong tonight
  9. Poor Kieran. 0.21 secs off a consideration time of 3m 45 just feels insanely tough that he won't even be considered under the discretion criteria?
  10. A number of the evening sessions are sold out which is really positive, alongside the TV pick ups from BBC and C4.
  11. This is a fair point on Euro Jnrs - to me i'm still surprised that she isn't going into the 1500m as fresh as absolutely possible as that is her main chance to make the Olympics. We have ruminated above that UK Aquatics might not take her even if she goes sub 16m 10, and that will really sting if the 200m races today take a little bit out of her. If the 200m was at the end of the week then I'd understand her swimming it more.
  12. The schedule didn’t line up for her if she is going for 200IM 400IM and the freestyle relays. Although making the individual 200IM will be very hard, the workload will still be a lot for her without this and I’m not surprised she is not racing the 200m free individual
  13. I think it very likely we take more than 30 and they ditch this limit.
  14. BBC seem to have forgotten Jimmy Guy exists which is a bit of an oversight 🤣 https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/swimming/68625830
  15. Even as big a fan of Amelie that I am, she is not getting anywhere near Katie or Freya in the 400 IM.
  16. The relays is what the entire GB program has revolved around but I agree it really throws up a conundrum without Freya there. my assumption is that common sense would prevail and if the QT is met with Freya’s 2023 SBs then they would take the relays possibly with a delay upon awaiting to see how her return is looking.
  17. I’m not sure there will be too much of a backlash for Freya to get a spot.
  18. Just depends on whether she gets a discretionary pick. I think it’s possible she still makes the team as without her the 2 freestyle relays are basically finished of having any chance.
  19. The quality and depth in British women's triathlon is remarkable. Sian barely raced from what I can recall last year and to win here, albeit over the sprint distance, beating Zaferes in particular is very impressive. Obviously remains incredibly tough to get to Paris ahead of GTB, Beth Potter or Kate Waugh.
  20. Anderson is a bit of a mystery this year. Also didn't go to Australia with the rest of the Bath camp...no injury reported but without any racing its hard to know whereabouts she is performance wise.
  21. As I've consistently said on the swimming threads, I'm bullish on Amelie's prospects. I think she gets the BST in the 1500m (800m is perhaps a bridge too far with her schedule planned though), and makes the final in Paris. She has been noticeably absent in the last couple of weeks from the events where Salford has had representation (e.g. Manchester International), whereas her 16m 10 was set in the middle of regular swim meets so assuming this time was set in the middle of a heavy training block, a taper should set her up for something special in London. It would be another benefit if Fleur can push her; I'd be pleasantly surprised if that happens and is possible on account of Fleur's wonderful short course season but not sure she can knock 20 seconds off her PB to push Amelie. I wonder how close Amelie has to get to the BST before she gets taken to Paris given the future she has ahead of her, and her rate of progression meaning that by the time end of July rolls round she may have improved by a few more seconds!
  22. Not sure about the options of bringing in Jess as a replacement as late as July as indicated is a possibility? Good to see that she is moving forward in her recovery at the moment.
  23. I’m very interested to see if Jonny Marshall can push Ollie Morgan. He has to come straight off the NCAAs (and yards) but he has been so quick over short course recently that it’s not impossible he drops a big chunk off his PB 54.3 in long course.
  24. I must admit I have no idea why she is being entered into the 200m and 400m free - doesn’t make sense. To make those times (especially the 800m from where she is) would require her to be as fully rested as possible. maybe she doesn’t line up in all of them or her team is super confident on her getting the 1500m time?! Can’t work it out. Freya Colbert not doing the 200m back was notable to me. Dean and Scott against each other in all 3 events should also be fun (100m 200m free 200m IM). I also noted Matt Richards is entered into the 50m alongside his main 2 events (no 100m fly) which slightly surprised me.
