This was the funding situation for Ski Jumping  Canada vs the rest of the sports. I think a medal will definitely help!

So, still reeling from this morning. To highlight the absurdity of the ski jumping medal - unless both short track relays medal and use their alternates in the heats or the men's hockey team medals, ski jumping will be the only sport where every Canadian at the games will have won a medal.

I wouldn't sleep on Crawford in the Super G. He is stronger in Super G than in downhill, and his fourth place in downhill didn't really look like a fluke (he looked really good in both training runs).

If it was up to me anything that isn't a judo throw or taking a short cut outside of the course limit would be allowed.

Fontana's scream wasn't in celebration as much as it was a release of the anger she's been carrying since returning from a year's break after the 2018 Olympics. Fontana won gold four years ago, but it was made clear that her husband and former U.S. short track skater, Anthony Lobello Jr., wasn't welcome as her coach.
"I'm kind of overwhelmed with a lot of different emotions — happy, relieved," Fontana said. "I don't usually yell, but it was a way to let it out, all that anger."
Italian federation officials passed Fontana in the hallway after her victory and didn't offer congratulations.
"I wasn't looking for them to come up to me," she said. "It's actually better if they stay away."

Okay boys and girls, I don't think any of us are allowed to complain about bad luck the rest of these Olympics no matter what else happens from here on out. Because that medal used up, like, a century worth of luck.

Honestly this would have been an amazing result for Canada even without the disqualifications. Beating Czechia and Poland was really impressive for a tiny, underfunded program.

By the way, now the only sport Canada has not medaled in is Nordic Combined.

Ski Jumping Canada is based in Calgary, but its national team operates out of Slovenia, a hotspot for the sport. Loutitt lives in Bled, while Strate, Soukup, Boyd-Clowes, Eilers and Nicole Maurer are in Kranj, about 30 minutes away. They all train together in Planica and compete all over Europe and Asia.

Feels like we won two medals today.

This sport was DEAD, literally DEAD after this cycle. The athletes had to move to Slovenia to even train with Calgary's jumps closing. HOLY FUCK this is huge.

If you told me Canada would win a ski jumping medal, but not in figure skating I'd have laughed at you
