  9. Looks like is the next country moving inline speed skaters onto the ice. Dalia SOBERANIS has competed in some races. Her times are not good enough to qualify for the Olympics, but for a first time race, her times are very good imo. https://speedskatingresults.com/index.php?p=46&n=72 With more training and races under her belt, maybe she can aim for qualification. @Olympian1010
  10. And baseball there is two chances, with an outside shot. Water polo I'd give it a 10% or less chance.
  11. With Agenda 2020, capacity requirements are now gone. (Damn, I sound like Thomas Bach) lol

  13. I am surprised Canada won two medals on opening day, including a gold in the women's team pursuit, especially after this: https://www.speedskating.ca/news-and-info/news/canadas-long-track-speed-skating-team-headed-to-fort-st-john-for-training-camp
  14. As the world continues to grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic, Swimming Canada has invoked the unexpected circumstances clause of its Olympic team nomination criteria, and is postponing the Olympic and Paralympic Swimming Trials until late May. Swimming Canada will also plan a supplementary Olympic qualifying opportunity in June. The clause allows the Swimming Canada Selection Committee to determine if unexpected or unusual circumstances have arisen during the process of applying these Criteria and have the full and absolute discretion to resolve the matter as it sees fit, taking into account factors and circumstances that it deems relevant. Any such exercise of discretion shall be subject to the Canadian administrative law principles of fairness. The following swimmers have been provisionally nominated by Swimming Canada’s Selection Committee for the rescheduled Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, for the following specific individual events: Kylie Masse (Lasalle, Ontario), 100m and 200m backstroke Margaret Mac Neil (London, Ontario), 100m butterfly Penny Oleksiak (Toronto, Ontario), 200m freestyle Sydney Pickrem (Halifax, Nova Scotia), 200m breaststroke, 200m and 400m individual medley Taylor Ruck (Kelowna, British Columbia), 100m freestyle Markus Thormeyer (Delta, British Columbia), 200m backstroke More: https://www.swimming.ca/en/news/2021/01/22/six-swimmers-provisionally-nominated-to-represent-team-canada-at-tokyo-2020/
  15. They cut 2 per team already... I can't see them wanting the sport off... their governing body all together is the largest medal sport on the program. If it were up to me though I'd get rid of water polo or synchro to free up more quotas for another team sport
  16. Yea because what is happening in India dictates what happens to the Games /sarcasm
  17. The Winter Olympics: Are we a joke?
  18. The IOC is financially sound. They will take a hit but survive. I am more worried about the NFs who rely on Olympic money, especially those who asked for an advance loan
  19. If the IOC supports the decision, I would suspect we will be seeing a Tokyo 2032 games
  20. The article literally says they want 2032....
  21. In 18 months probably with the ISSF championships... ---
  22. So sad. I feel for those who had to miss 2016 and were aiming for 2020. I also feel bad for the baseball and karate athletes who will not live their Olympic dream...
  23. FIH has the best qualification system, all team sports should (perhaps not football) follow this system.
  24. These are not the European Games Australia and China are strong teams... Canada came within a goal of beating Hungary and Netherlands in 2019. These 3 teams deserve it for sure.
