  1. Parallel Slalom WC Davos | Davos, Switzerland Men Gold- Arvid Auner Silver- Dario Caviezel Bronze- Fabian Obmann Women Gold- Miki Tsubaki Silver- Michelle Dekker Bronze- Flurina Neva Baetschi Tsubaki on a tear to start the season with 6, yes 6, podiums in her first 7 races (and she was 4th in the non-podium one) Flurina Neva Baetschi also with her first career WC podium in front of her home crowd! 2. Big Air WC Klagenfurt | Klagenfurt, Austria Women Gold- Luca Harrington (182.60) Silver- Timothe Sivignon (180.40) Bronze- Matej Svancer (175.40) Women Gold- Liu Mengting (170.60) Gold- Flora Tabanelli (170.20) Bronze- Muriel Mohr (166.20) Interesting to see how quickly Mohr and Tabanelli are progressing through to the senior ranks, they’ve now been on a couple of podiums so far this season. Full Results Side note: Sorry guys for the lack of updates, this has been a really busy time of my life and I didn’t have time to be updating stuff on Totallympics. Since there’s a lot for me to catch up on, I’ll probably do it all over the next couple of days.
  3. I forgot this was going on, as long as I find a place for streaming I’ll definitely be watching

Abby McLarnon I’m assuming didn’t send a squad? Full Results
  5. Still deciding, but NHL, NFL, NBA, club volleyball (as usual), Gim-Kim in some Korean Curling event, GSOC WFG Masters, Women’s U18 World Championships, and the Australian Open for sure, Junior FIS World Championships, BWF Malaysia Masters, big air/slopestyle freestyle skiing and snowboarding/alpine snowboarding, other winter sports (Luge/bobsleigh/skeleton/alpine skiing), Speed Skating European Championships Water Polo WC and Men’s Handball World Championships I’ll be following along with scores.
  6. For my predictions I’m assessing a number of factors into it. For example in the comeback category, I prioritize injuries/life or career threatening stuff over breaks. World Championships, World Cups (and similar stuff for sports that don’t have those) also factor into it. BEST MALE ATHLETE for sportsmen in Olympic sports #1: Leon Marchand #2: Armand Duplantis (3 WR’s in a year…) #3: Tadej Pogacar Odermatt not being nominated is unexpected. BEST FEMALE ATHLETE for sportswomen in Olympic sports #1: Summer McIntosh #2: Sifan Hassan #3: Lisa Carrington BEST NON-OLYMPIC ATHLETE for athletes in Non-Olympic sports and disciplines #1: Shohei Ohtani #2: Patrick Mahomes #3: Max Verstappen BEST PARALYMPIC ATHLETE for athletes with a disability #1: Catherine DeBrunner #2: Jiang Yuyan #3: Stefano Raimondi BEST YOUTH ATHLETE for athletes up to 18 years old (born after January 1st, 2006) (including Olympic, Non-Olympic and Paralympic sports) #1: Summer McIntosh (again) #2: Lamine Yamal #3: Darja Varfolomeev BEST MEN'S TEAM for national men's teams or groups (including Olympic, Non-Olympic and Paralympic sports) #1: basketball team #2: waterpolo team #3: volleyball team BEST WOMEN'S TEAM for national women's teams or groups (including Olympic, Non-Olympic and Paralympic sports) #1: volleyball team #2: handball team #3: field hockey team If I’m gonna be completely honest, after #1 and #2, I had a hard time choosing one because all four teams had their struggles… BEST DOUBLES/PAIR OR MIXED TEAM for doubles and pairs or mixed teams and groups (including Olympic, Non-Olympic and Paralympic sports) #1: Caterina Banti/Tito Ruggeri #2: David Åhman/Jonatan Hellvig #3: Paul O’Donovan/Fintan McCarthy I had to let out a laugh when I saw that Duda/AP were nominated, because even though they won gold they were not on the same page at all through most of the season and went months on the Beach Pro Tour between May and July without a single medal BREAKTHROUGH OF THE YEAR for the most improved athlete (aged 19 or over) or national team (including Olympic, Non-Olympic and Paralympic sports) #1: Adriana Ruano #2: Jasmine Paolini #3: Shinnosuke Oka Again, some of the nominations are confusing to me. Vaast is surfing at his home break in Tahiti and like a lot of sports that advantage is big, Lafond had a best jump of 14.90m in 2023 and Alfred was a medal contender in 2023 as well. I would put Joan-Benjamin Gaba up there, he came into the Olympics completely out of the medal mix and he won silver and beat Hifumi by ippon in the mixed team final COMEBACK OF THE YEAR for athletes or national teams who made a comeback performance in 2024 (including Olympic, Non-Olympic and Paralympic sports) #1: Sunisa Lee #2: Paula Badosa #3: Kristof Milak SPORT MOMENT OF THE YEAR for any sport moment from 2024 #1: Djokovic finally winning an Olympic gold medal in men’s singles tennis (and none of the other choices come close for me, honestly) #2: Letsile Tebogo’s gold in the men’s 200m, first ever gold for Botswana and he also beats evil Lyles in the process #3: Armand Duplantis’ gold and WR in men’s pole vault I wasn’t a fan the opening ceremony, and I thought the general consensus was that most people on here didn’t like it either, so I’m not sure on how it got nominated but… Also thought there would be at least one non-Olympic nomination, but I guess not. OLYMPIC SPIRIT AWARD for athletes or teams related to the 2024 Summer Olympics or Paralympics who exemplify the spirit of sportsmanship in the Games or showed great determination in overcoming obstacles #1: Kinzang Lhamo crossing the marathon finish line #2: Fariba Hashimi fulfilling her Olympic dream, having to hide her practices from her parents and the Taliban for doing a “boys’ activity” #3: Same thing for Manizha Talash, I can’t imagine how hard that must be for them… Honestly, this was a tough category. Besides Skotheim, who I very clearly think is last… I feel like it could go in any order.
  7. BEST MALE ATHLETE for sportsmen in Olympic sports #1: Leon Marchand #2: Armand Duplantis #3: Marco Odermatt #4: #5: Tadej Pogacar #6: BEST FEMALE ATHLETE for sportswomen in Olympic sports #1: Summer McIntosh #2: #3: #4: #5: #6: BEST NON-OLYMPIC ATHLETE for athletes in Non-Olympic sports and disciplines #1: #2: #3: #4: #5: #6: BEST PARALYMPIC ATHLETE for athletes with a disability #1: #2: #3: #4: #5: #6: BEST YOUTH ATHLETE for athletes up to 18 years old (born after January 1st, 2006) (including Olympic, Non-Olympic and Paralympic sports) #1: #2: #3: #4: #5: #6: BEST MEN'S TEAM for national men's teams or groups (including Olympic, Non-Olympic and Paralympic sports) #1: #2: #3: #4: #5: #6: BEST WOMEN'S TEAM for national women's teams or groups (including Olympic, Non-Olympic and Paralympic sports) #1: #2: #3: #4: #5: #6: BEST DOUBLES/PAIR OR MIXED TEAM for doubles and pairs or mixed teams and groups (including Olympic, Non-Olympic and Paralympic sports) #1: #2: #3: #4: #5: #6: BREAKTHROUGH OF THE YEAR for the most improved athlete (aged 19 or over) or national team (including Olympic, Non-Olympic and Paralympic sports) #1: Adriana Ruano #2: Joan-Benjamin Gaba #3: Truls Moregardh #4: Cole Hocker #5: #6: COMEBACK OF THE YEAR for athletes or national teams who made a comeback performance in 2024 (including Olympic, Non-Olympic and Paralympic sports) #1: #2: #3: #4: #5: #6: SPORT MOMENT OF THE YEAR for any sport moment from 2024 #1: Charlie Lindgren’s (own) goalie goal against the Lightning in the NHL #2: Rachel Homan’s split for 3 in the 9th end of World Championships final #3: Faroe Island’s tie against Norway at the Men’s Handball World Championships #4: Vinesh Phogat beating Yui Suisaki in women’s wrestling at the Olympics #5: Truls Moregardh beating Wang Chuqin in men’s singles table tennis at the Olympics #6: But there’s so many, it’s really hard to choose… OLYMPIC SPIRIT AWARD for athletes or teams related to the 2024 Summer Olympics or Paralympics who exemplify the spirit of sportsmanship in the Games or showed great determination in overcoming obstacles #1: #2: #3: #4: #5: #6:
  8. I’m voting tomorrow but I might need time to edit my predictions
  9. After a Men’s World Juniors campaign that was so disastrous that I didn’t even want to talk about it at all… (Easton McCowan I hope you never put a Team Canada jersey on ever again, and management that’s what you get for leaving so many big players off the roster) there’s more Hockey Canada embarrassment at the Women’s U18 Worlds We’re tied with Slovakia, YES Slovakia… 2-2 after 2 periods. 45-5 in shots, but the team isn’t looking dangerous at all… Not gonna rag on them because they’re only kids but these girls need to wake up.
  10. Yep, women’s trials will (hopefully too, because of how dominant they are) be boring in terms of the winner, but you never know what’ll happen. Men’s trials has Gushue, Jacobs, McEwen, and Dunstone all in contention.
  11. Realistically, I think there’s about a 5% chance they don’t by World Championships, and about a 0.01% chance at all, because well it’s Peterman/Gallant… but yeah you’re right. I know you must be super happy with the result, I believe you were rooting for them from the beginning? (I was too)
  12. Peterman/Gallant will be Canada’s Olympic representatives after defeating Homan/Bottcher 10-5 in the Mixed Doubles Olympic Trials Final. Undefeated all week long, just incredible
  13. And it’s all over! Peterman/Gallant cap off their unbeaten week with a win in the final and are going to the Olympics!!
  14. Homan with a shot for 4 to make things interesting, but the red stone jams on the yellow stone in the back 8 and they only score the 2. 8-5 Peterman/Gallant with hammer coming home. Almost seems inevitable at this point.
  15. Homan/Bottcher convert on their power-play, with a wide open draw for two. With how this game has been going, and that whiff by Brett, slightly underwhelming of a score but at least it’s something? Peterman/Gallant up 6-3 and have the hammer in the 6th end.
  16. After 4 ends, Peterman/Gallant with a commanding 6-1 lead over Homan/Bottcher after scoring a 2 in the 4th. I can really tell how badly Peterman/Gallant want to make it to the Olympics, what a performance by them so far. Still lots of game to go though, and I wouldn’t put it past Homan/Bottcher to make a comeback.
  17. And there’s a good shot by Bottcher, as he executes on the short run
  18. Canadian Mixed Doubles Olympic Trials final between Peterman/Gallant and Homan/Bottcher, here we go! (I’m aware I’m late, I’ve been typing this in between rocks)
  19. Odermatt, and I’ll do the rest later
  20. Tran/Kleiter and Homan/Bottcher defeat Jones/Laing and Cotter/Cotter to advance to the 3v4 playoff game. Winner to the semifinals (against the 1v2 playoff game loser, either Weagle/Epping or Psterman/Gallant), and the loser is eliminated.
  21. Lott/Lott and Walker/Muyers both out Well… I hope the final will be Peterman/Gallant v. Homan/Bottcher. Them or one of them with Weagle/Epping, I don’t trust any of the other pairings.

  23. As long as it’s not multiple countries worldwide (unless it’s countries bordering each other…), anywhere in India, Saudi Arabia, and probably even Doha I’m fine with pretty much anywhere.
  24. Excellent news, I’ve just talked to Devin and all matches will be live streamed for free on the Curling Canada YouTube channel https://youtube.com/@curlingcanada?si=qAScw4KIBTe7rdHO
