  1. Sinner defeats Djokovic 7-6 (4), 6-3 for his 3rd Masters 1000 title of the season at the Shanghai Open, and his 4th victory (out of 5) over him in the last 11 months. Djokovic had his chances in the TB, but his net game cost him.

  5. Rafael Nadal has announced his retirement from tennis. Always knew this day would come, didn’t ever want it to happen. Davis Cup will be the final tournament of his career. All the best Rafa, what a legend of the sport you are!
  6. Season opening loss Canucks blow a 4-1 lead to the Flames, losing 5-6 in OT, they were pretty much nonexistent during the 2nd and 3rd periods. Props to Hughes for bagging us the point though, great save on an empty net. No worries, we brush this game off and move on, the rust will probably wear off as the season progresses.
  7. Kusti Nõlvak (beach volleyball)
  8. Maria Sakkari has announced the end of her season due to a shoulder injury. @Makedonas
  9. Utah Hockey Club won their inaugural regular season game yesterday, defeating the Chicago Blackhawks 5-2!
  10. Victor Lapena fired. After another disappointing Olympic outing it’s not that surprising IMO.

  14. Hüberli/Brunner announce the end of their partnership after 9 years together I love these girls, they were my second favourite women’s pairing after MHP/Wilkerson (and probably the only other women’s pairing I rooted for, besides Mader/Verge-Depre somewhat) so it’s such a shame to see them split. Brunner will take a break from beach volleyball and focus on starting a family (she still has that desire to return), while Hüberli will continue with a new partner. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DA0nWvZMmnq/?igsh=MXgxcHFvamt3OTc3Yw==
  15. Fernandez defeats Shnaider 6-7 (7), 6-3, 6-3 in the round of 64 at the Wuhan Open! Best win for Canadian tennis in at least a month I would think?
  16. Wish I could say the same, for me it’s rare when there’s a day that there’s absolutely nothing on for me to watch There’s even stuff on Christmas (NBA and NFL), although usually in the days leading up to it there’s less sporting events going on.

  21. I wish the ISU would make each of the sessions shorter… they all last between 3-5 hours (and sometimes 10 hours with the qualifying sessions) and me personally I find it highly annoying and unnecessary, because there’s so many breaks in between (for ice resurfacing it’s understandable, but it doesn’t take the 15-20 minutes long breaks to do it…)
  22. Finals are set An all-Canadian final on the women’s side, as Team Homan looks to win their third title of the season (and improve to 18-1) against a hungry Team Einarson who have had a less than ideal start to the season, they were also the last Canadian team to beat Homan over a year ago (same event coincidentally), while on the men’s side it’ll be a battle between Olympic medalists as Team Mouat goes against Team Gushue!
  23. GSOC HearingLife Tour Challenge Semifinals Women Team Fujisawa v. Team Einarson Team Lawes v. Team Homan Men Team Mouat v. Team McEwen Team Dunstone v. Team Gushue
